  1. no team "should" beat sunderland, theyre a bloody good team I disagree. I think they’re mediocre, especially away from home.
  2. Houllier looks like an Hindu Godess in that picture!
  3. Whole away end was singing his name today and he gave us all a little wave and a smile. He got the chance to pick our best side, where all of them were fit and we got a good result, which on balance probably should have been two points better. Lets see what January brings and hopefully we can start accumulating points and striding up the table.
  4. Who got banned As for the OP, he may as well be a monobrowed, knuckle dragging ,Tiltonite- they share the same sentiment after all. Wanting the Villa to lose? **** off.
  5. I think O’Neill is to blame for not having the negotiating skills of Redknapp or Moyes who got more, but paid less for it. If you look at the context of the past two seasons, then we did indeed go very close, but fell away at the crucial times. Better squad management and a few less Marlon Harewoods, Beye’s and Sidwell’s might have done us the trick with a bit more variety and quality. Ultimately he failed though, which was very disappointing and it now feels like a missed opportunity- especially as we look enviously on at Spurs. I believe that the man is a word removed for walking out on us. I was an O’Neill fan, I wanted him to give it one more go- but now he belongs in the same category as Billy McNeill and O’Leary in the list of despised Villa managers. It was a cowardly act of self preservation- whether it was calculated, who knows? Either way, the facts are there, he baulked at the task and walked out on us, starting this nightmarish season off. The response from his acolytes in the media made it clear that brand O’Neill had been protected and how dare little Aston Villa do what they’d done to him? He’s not the only reason though, he’s just one of the characters I hold responsible for this mess.
  6. Easy rule for them to follow. Keep your knob heads off the pitch and they won’t get half the away end chucked at them. I guess in fairness they could be referring to how it went off at half time.
  7. I believe Lerner is resposnbile due to his naivety and loyalty towards O’Neill with regards to spending. He backed him to the hilt, but this money was not spent wisely. We do not have a squad of quality or depth to rely on. In fact, we’re over reliant on a few key inderviduals and over reliant on one method of attack. I think O’Neill is responsible for failing to get us into the top four with the money he’d spent. I think other managers have shown a greater capacity to get better bang for their buck in relation to spending and/or wages than O’Neill. His failing feels like a missed opportunity. I also hold O’Neill responsible for doing one of the poorest stunts in Aston Villa’s history- walking out on the club five days before the start of the campaign. The self preservation of brand O’Neill has cost us dear. He had two options, walk in May or give this season a shot and try and finish what he had started. Either scenario would not have seen us struggle as we are now. We could have recycled players out the door and brought in fresh faces and had a greater choice of manager. I blame Houllier for his odd team selections and his ruffling of the players feathers which has put so many noses out of joint. It might needed to have been done and it might be morally right- but now was not the time to do it. I also blame him for failing to deliver enough good performances and crucially enough results. I blame the players. It was clear to me yesterday that some of them lack professional pride and integrity. Some of them are not interested in playing for the manager or playing for the club. Their behaviour and attitude is a disgrace.
  8. British Board of Communists- right wing?
  9. Went off at half time too. Kicking the wooden door through and giving the metal roller door a right shilacking. Couple of Noses dragged through and given a right kicking.
  10. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to say when you’re sincerely comparing the Irish and German manufacturing industries.
  11. When I get one from you that answers my question, then I'll give you one.
  12. I think it would be more interesting for you to explain why the Irish and the German economies are similar.
  13. I think we'll finish 6th. We're in the pack at the moment, plodding on till January where we can invest in one or two players at the same time as our injuries will be coming back. A good run in the later half with the home games against the lesser sides and we'll be alright. The league is crap.
  14. I thought the BBC 5Live analysis of his comments was pretty spot on. Essentially they said his generalisation was wrong, but you can make a decent argument if you move into specifics for him being right. People on trackers for example who are in employment will have done very well so far. Those with savings will have lost out due to the low interest rates. They also compared this recession with the recessions of the early 80’ds and 90’s and how unemployment, interest rates and inflation have remained a lot lower, leaving fewer people losing out. The obvious difference being the huge debt we face now and how it takes longer to work its way out the system. Still, his comments weren’t the sort to be made while being wined and dined and he shouldn’t have made crass generalisations and deservedly walked. As an aside, I'm struggling to think why I read this thread given some of the inane contributions in it.
  15. Your car will be fine. The route from Aston uni through Digbeth and up onto the Cov Road will be where it will go off before hand. Its after where you're most likely to cop a punch in the dark.
  16. The fact the Noses propaganda machine has been working over-time tells you everything. He got a good smack and went down as a result. He didn't get sparked mind, but there you go. "It wasn't him! It was a look-a-like". Blah -blah-blah.
  17. They'll be well up for it, especially after Cud got sat on his arse by that 18 year old boxer.
  18. Especially as these are the same people who defend the previous incumbent so staunchly, despite him seeing it as just a job and a stepping stone to something else, who regularly and routinely criticised the home support. Unrequited love is so sad.
  19. And so consistent in your views! What? Its sink or swim time for him now. There's no opportunity to blood him slowly, he's got to do it and I am looking forward to seeing if he can. I hope he does as I think he's a really talented player.
  20. I completely disagree. O’Neill never bought into the Villa in the way the likes of Taylor, Atkinson and Sir Brian did. To him it was just another job. No different in that sense to O’Leary. What about the second bit of the statement? Do you think Houllier has "bought into" the Villa in the way you saw Taylor, Atkinsin and Little doing? I think he's realised we're a much bigger club than he first anticipated. That's usually how it starts, but he's only been here five minutes. I'll get back to you in a season or two.
  21. The only thing I do know about the train network, is that ours are pretty poor due to all the bends in the old layouts making for high maintenance and low speed.
  22. I completely disagree. O’Neill never bought into the Villa in the way the likes of Taylor, Atkinson and Sir Brian did. To him it was just another job. No different in that sense to O’Leary. As for Nathan, I’m really excited about the kid taking his chance.
  23. We’re just unfortunate that our Safety Council is one of the very few who bother to enforce these illogical rules.
  24. A leasehold sale is still a sale. If we want it back before the end of the lease we will have to buy it back. Unless we nationalise without compensation, of course. A leasehold sale I am pretty sure is not a sale. That is a freehold sale. Just reread what you said. I am not sure why we would want to renationalise it? Much as I would like to see all the railways renationalised it isn’t going to happen, nor are the railways coming back as a unified company (the natural state of the railway is as a private company). Basically the govt and the two wars have ƒucked the railways. The state still hold the freehold reversion. £2.1 billion for 68 miles of track? I know next to nothing about the high speed rail network, so I can't really comment on how good a deal this is.
