  1. I don’t really see how you can argue that from a Labour perspective. The only difference between the coalition and the opposition is when the cuts would be made. A big cut now versus a staggered approach. Given what Ed Miliband has said about us being at our maximum threshold for what we can stand tax wise, then this suggests that ultimately Labour would have cut just as deep. If you were arguing from a non-partisan point of view then I think your argument would hold more credence.
  2. Was there mention of a cut of one of the SSBN's in that time?
  3. There hasn’t been any air-superiority aircraft in the FAA for some time now, by taking away the GR.9’s all we’re doing is completing the picture and removing our ground attack capability. Its quite disastrous what has happened to the Royal Navy in recent years and this cut is just another continuation of the jam tomorrow policy. I assume the Prince of Wales will have a CAT on it, but hopefully by that time the economy will have picked up enough for us to have stuck a few F-18's on the new platforms. I doubt the will of the Treasury though. The Treasury's line of thinking is that we haven't had proper carriers for 40 years, so whats the rush? Tossers.

I think those who have said he needs games are right. He is drifting in and out of them at the moment, but when he does have a spell, then he looks very dangerous. I think his ideal position is in the hole where he played on Saturday. I see no sense in having him drop deep to collect the ball when he can create so much in and around the opposition penalty area.
  5. I voted Conservative in May and nothing has changed in that time that would make me consider voting for somebody else.
  6. Blandy, are you a solicitor by chance?
  7. Not really, there is no modern day equivalent example. Our public spending went on the Royal Navy and from the late eighteenth century to 1815, an increase in the size of the army, as we’d become involved in continental warfare. Even our empire building was privatised at that point in time.
  8. That was easy to counter, considering the 100 Days Campaign was over and we could wind up a number of army divisions, which was where all that public expenditure came from, fighting Napoleon.
  9. The death of the Liberal party FTL :-( On the plus side, this arguably strengthens Labour, as the dissafected Lib Dem supporters will in all probability drift to them in large numbers ... The death of the Lib Dems internal coalition maybe. Its very early days yet, we're in the maelstrom of events right now and things may well look very different in five years time.
  10. Poor students will be better off under the system. I don’t see the big fuss about increased student debt. Its only a taster of the endless debt you’ll spend your life in.
  11. Why pretend like that is the case? Every day you’re on here dripping with rage and posting comments that border on the demagoguery over you hatred/outrage at the Conservatives. You’re free to criticise and you do and nobody has once ever stopped you from doing it.

    Give Goughy a call.
  13. Whitby is a dick. In fact, every council bod Birmingham has had since the early 90’s has been an ambitionless twerp and doing Birmingham a great disservice, regardless of political colour.

He's had a few injuries and hasn't been match fit- that's one of the main reasons why he hasn't started.
  15. Yeah me too. The fact it’s a Saturday 3pm means that fellow away schemers won’t return tickets en masse, as this is what we signed up for. Couple the three week break for away games, the cheap prices (relatively speaking) for tickets and we’ll do all right.

Always loads of cockney Villa at this to boost numbers in the neutral section.
  17. 2300 will go I reckon. That's usually the number. I don’t see Spurs, being three weeks prior to this and Fulham, being 2 weeks after this, having too greater impact. Whats the cause for the break between the Spurs game and Chelsea?
  18. Ground zero for assault rifles comes from the German Stg 44. The AK-47 is very similar looking, with the banana clip. The Scar-L 16 series has been dropped by SOCOM. They're looking at the H/17 model with the 7.62mm now. It doesn’t help the case that the MoD bought our Special Force’s weaponry from Colt and now Diemaco, but I think the L85 should be in there over that abortion the F2000.
  19. The Colt Commando is the CAR-15, essentially the carbine model from the Aramalite series and it is what the M4 was developed from. Its what British Special Forces used before we went Canadian.

I’ve been there and had a toilet seat lobbed down at us! If you’re on the front row of the upper tier, then all you need to do is lean over and you can drop things on the support below. The past three times I’ve visited have been these past two seasons with the Villa and the last time the Albion were promoted and on every occasion the back row has been covered in mesh. Maybe its to do with the view, but I assumed it was to do with dropping objects.
  21. Left and right wing are archaic descriptions.
  22. You’re absolutely right on the carriers. I think you’re still pushing your luck with two. Having just one is a farce as we’ve seen with our buddies across the Channel. All that said, I won’t believe we’re going though with the second carrier until I see it floating down the Clyde. I can’t see them going with the F35/C variant because of the extra ware and tear on the airframes caused by having a cat. Although I have read that the ski jump can be taken off the carriers at a later date? I’d also read about the F-18 option, but if cost is the big issue (and it always is) why bin the FA2 and leave the Navy without any air-superiority for ten years only to buy the F-18? Bad news indeed. Those are ships. This a boat
  23. Blandy, after listening to Fox give his speech to Chatham House I got the impression that the Navy would be spared the cuts. Its incredibly difficult to imagine just what they could cut, but I think the elephant in the room really is The Prince of Wales. That is what I think they’re gunning for, because it would allow them to (in their eyes) get away with 6 new AAD’s, and shrink the Type 23 forces and put off a replacement. Then they have the option of either cutting the F35 order or cutting the Tornados from the Crabs and allowing more F35’s to be used by them from the joint pool. And what an utter nonsense that would be. But I can see them doing it.
