  1. probably worth bearing in mind that City now have arguably the best squad in the premiership. As well as earning a shed load you can play alongside some of europes best players and have a great shot at some trophies. Not a bad sweetener. Why wouldnt you go there?
  2. disagree, i think he'd play. Toure, Barry and Milner in the middle. Johnson and Silva on the wings. Tevez up front. Potentially a great move for Milner, if he plays and plays well hes probably looking at competing for the premiership and playing in the champions league. Find it strange how people rate him as great and worth 30m plus but not good enough to get in citys starting 11
  3. Loyalty doesnt necessarily come into it. He only goes if we accept a fee. He can obviously play his card but i havent heard any transfer requests going in.
  4. It's completely different PieFacE. Sorry Rob but I think you're badly and sadly deluded if you think we're that much different to City ultimately. There's a lot of this going round at the moment and it smacks of people finding nothing other than the chance to try and take the moral high ground as they've nothing else to use. None of us are happy that Milner, and Barry will have gone to City, none of us like the fact that a shit club like them are all of a sudden mixing it with Europe's elite in the transfer market, none of us like Manchester City. But you don't hear us resorting to ridiculous claims in order to try and make ourselves feel a bit better about it all. Accept it and move on. Whatever mate, you obviously can't accept the fact that some people don't like the idea of "selling out". You don't know me personally so don't try and put it down to the fact that Man City have got a billionaire owner in the last few years. It's nothing to do with that. It's not taking the moral high ground. It's me and my personal feelings on this subject. Whether it's in football, music or anything else. I despise it. I'm only mentioning it now because it effects us directly with City supposedly taking Milner off us. but weve done it with players from other clubs. Blackburn didnt want to sell Warnock, Newcastle didnt want to sell Milner. We used our weight to take players from lower placed clubs, City just have more weight.
  5. i think they'll go for Milner still. Silva Milner Barry Toure Johnson and tevez up front. Decent 5 man midfield with the option of bringing in Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Bellamy, Ireland, De Jong, Viera, Wright Phillips. Love em or hate em thats a squad that should compete with the best.
  6. i'm not sure any sensible person who wants us to be successful would be saying that trickie. Why do you have to lose your integrity to be successful? This really pisses me off. Why do some people find it so hard to believe that others will place their values over instant success? I'd feel no sense of acheivement if we won the league by spending £300m. Well done, you have more money than anyone else :? does this mean you only take pleasure from beating the handful of teams that have spent more than us in the last few years.
  7. Yes he is. £28m for milner is too good to turn down but I don't trust MON to spend the money wisely. We really need to kick on next season finishing 6th 4 seasons in a row would not be good. By my count we now need to buy a RB, two CM's and a Striker and that's just for the first team. Starting the season with 4 brand new players in your first XI with possibly another 2-3 squad players on the bench. Not sure MON has the transfer nous to make it work... I love villa fans, when was finishing 6th 4 seasons in a row not good? what an arrogant statement
  8. you really think the first you'd heard of this would be a player announcing it on twitter?
  9. i own prescription rayban aviators. bloody brilliant
  10. Bonkers positive. Yes, we've just signed a new £20m sponsorship contract and we have a billionaire owner who has consistently spent money on improving the club/squad plus we have quite a few players to sell/release to raise funds. I dont know where I get my ideas from. The owner also indicated sell to buy, as well as the club being self sustaining. Your also assuming players will want to come to Villa and sit on the bench. MON has shown no evidence that fighting for your place ensures you have a chance of being in the first team unless your a favourite. Players are dumb agents are not. Good luck with your 5 players in. MONs lack of rotation works both way. A player may think he'll come to villa to sit on a bench and get few opportunities but he may also believe he can come in an establish himself and is unlikely to be dropped if he makes the odd mistake.
  11. Apparently were in for Cho Yong Hyung, South Korean Defender. Should probably have its own thread. Football 365
  12. didnt work for us, tried everything. he was two weeks late and induced. Best of luck. My lad has just started teething, manage to rack up a full 3 hours sleep last night.
  13. congratulations mate, hope your enjoying it.
  14. cant see why, he gave him back the captaincy and picked him for another season. Weve seen MON freeze players out for much less than Barry did.
  15. I keep watching the defensive midfielders and defenders with the hope that one will catch MON's (or our scouts') eye and that we'll have direct replacements for Petrov or L Young. (For the record - I like Petrov but I can see him becoming less and less effective in the next season). wouldnt get your hopes up, cant see why club captain and virtual ever present Petrov is about to be replaced. Our opinions aside, MON rates him and wants him in the team
  16. we pay more wages than spurs. fact. Not sure how it's spread out, but as a total. Surprising, but true. that was the impression i was under as well.
  17. Wont happen but if he joined. Villa Park should be a cauldron of vuvuzelas The mental image of VP full of vuvuzelas Cannot see us competing too much with Spurs this summer sadly though... For obvious reasons like CL footy & London/Birmingham Plus of course that little matter of size of wages! i was under the impression Spurs had quite a decent wage structure. Didnt think they had anyone on much more than £60k - £70k per week.
  18. if were gonna do a comparison with Spurs how about the Dunne/Collins vs Woodgate or Young/Milner vs Bentley. Weve had some poor purchases not doubt but some crackers as well
  19. A levels seems to be becoming more important now, the best graduate course will look at how you've performed and studies consitently across your GCSE's, A-levels and Degree courses. Best of luck guys.
  20. Is it Milners fault if Villa agree a fee for him? If we get offered 30m and Villa take it then i dont see how its Milners fault. And if United or Chelsea are only prepared to offer say 20m then what do you want to happen. Milner to join a champions league club and fulfil his potential at the expense of 10m. I will only be disappointed in Milner if he puts in a transfer request as i believe hes owes us another year.
  21. how will he be letting us down?, his loyalty is to himself and to money, next season he will be where-ever the best deal for james milner is, if that is away from villa then so be it, he is a self employed professional footballer, and will always chase the best contract, its not letting anyone down, its just the way it is How would he be letting us down? Do you not think that he owes us more than 1 good season since we payed over the odds to resurrect his career, helping him to become one of Englands most established players? Personally, I think he does. agreed but what if the club agree to sell him?
  22. anyone got any decent warm up and warm down tips. Ive been running for a few weeks now trying to get 2/3 runs in a week but for the days after my legs feel terrible. Very tight arund the groin area and very tight calves as well.
  23. Not better than Duff at Chelsea. Completely different style of attacker but Duff was so dangerous for those 2 seasons. which was how long ago? hes ten times the player now. Just offer a bigger signing on fee then reduced wages. Whats the difference between paying him a 9 - 10 mill signing on fee than the club. The amounts were obviously less but i believe we did the same with Sidwell so that he would fit into our wage structure.
