  1. id have him back, also wouldnt want him to play alongside Petrov but it will never happen. I strongly suspect he will be playing in a midfield 5 for city with toure, milner and Silva and Johnson on the wings.
  2. id rather we looked for an exchange involving Santa Cruz than Ireland.
  3. whilst im sure money is a factor, he is also going to play for a club that realistically have a chance of challenging for the title and playing alongside some of the best players in europe. To be fair to City they are showing ambition, read the threads and see the players were linked with. Its frustrating i know but to say you dont understand his reasons for leaving is just blinkered.
  4. youngs croosing the last couple of seasons has been poor IMO. after he has spent 5mins dancing with defenders the opposition have 6 guys behind the ball and the cross comes to nothing. Jm (again just my opinion) is far more dangerous. Ive said it before. Ash Young is the best crosser in the premiership for me. They just look shite as our strikers have the killer instinct of a pea completely agree, best crosser in the prem. Take away penalties and Young and Milner i dont think were very far apart in terms of goals and assists last season.
  5. on the other side of the coin, the club are pretty much saying "thanks for the service james, but if we can get 30m for you then your out the door.", but hey thats football.
  6. Its a good job none of us are the manager as we'd pretty much be running back to Mancini now taking whatever we can get based on paper speculation. If they want him they should still pay the price we want to lose him, remember the Lescott scenario, it may take up a month but surely its worth it for the extra 5-10 million we would receive.
  7. fixed As someone who suffers with them, very, very very wrong. They're far from just a headache. migraines are headaches for girls....man up
  8. And Ashley has said he wants to stay and sign a new contract, we should reward that kind of loyality? Personally I don't call that loyalty. If he had other options on the table ala Milner and said he wanted to stay and was happy to sign a longer deal. That would be loyalty and I'd be happy to reward it. I don't though call it loyalty when no other offer exists, I'd call it taking advantage of the situation and fancying a pay rise personally. Especially as contracts mean nothing these days other than having an influence on the transfer fee. People used to say Barry was loyal, he wasn't loyal. He did a job for us and then at the first sniff of a better opertunity came along with Liverpool he turned his back on us in seconds, no loyalty at all. If Young wants to extend his contract, great. I see that as protecting our interests and if that takes giving him a bit of a pay rise so be it but I won't kid myself its about loyalty. As for Milner, well all we have to go on is hearsay and rumour but it sounds like his head was turned just like Barry, it remains to be seen if he follows him to Man City. If he doesn't we need him to sign a new contract, not to show loyalty but simply to protect our interests because if not his price will drop with every month. There is though in my view at least, no such thing as loyalty in football these days. totally agree, no loyalty in football from players or clubs. If a player gets a better offer he goes, if a club gets a good offer for a player he goes.
  9. So might they Shillzz. I suspect Barry would be valued at less than £12m now & Ireland's value might be around £8m so that would give them Milner at a cost that is about the one we have already said no to. Personally, I'd be more than happy to see Barry back at Villa, which i recognise might put me in the minority. But if you take silly money out of the equation, can you seriously say that Milner's worth to a team would be more than the combined value of Ireland and Barry. In my opinion, Milners ability is fairly similar to the 2 players mentioned, so to get them both in exchange for him would represent a good deal. I accept what youre saying however, but I also think the £30m values being bounded around are wide of the mark. I cant imagine City paying more than £25m for him, if that. if think the 30m figure is what people suspect Villa would want to part with him. I dont think anyone is really debating that this is not over priced but they have lots of money, have previously paid well over the odds and we do not want to sell.
  10. i dont understand the obsession with foreign players, id rather have good players regardless of where they come from. Keane and Ireland would do me fine.
  11. agreed, would also have Barry back though not to play alongside Petrov. He was one of the best for putting his foot on the ball and always looked to find Young with his first pass. Cant see MON not having him back after trying so hard to keep him.
  12. subscribed and happy to help, also unaware of the associated running costs.
  13. a free transfer is not necessarily that anyway, look how much Joe Cole is going to cost Liverpool on a "free"
  14. alternatively if we want him to stay and havent accepted a big from City why make him miss his holiday. To my knowledge Milner hasnt handed in a transfer request or stated he doesnt want to be at villa.
  15. I would say it's as hard as you make it. Maybe we don't even ask ? It's wages that are the main problem I suppose but get the right players in and a full extended VP will be full every week thus paying the wages, don't and it won't be full and this gives a nice excuse to why we can't have the signings we need and around and round we go. Maybe we are leaving it late so we get a shock and awe job with 4 or 5 mega signings but in reality I will be left shaking my head again I fear. With no news coming out of VP it's hard to stay happy as larry at the moment. well we averaged about 38k per week at VP last season didnt we, are the extra 4k going to raise enough in wages to play these top players?
  16. What's shocking about that? We've got these kids and they're never given a run out. I'd rather throw them in at the deep end, see what they're about rather than spunk money up the wall. I'd love to see Bannan and Delph(when fit) thown in. If we find out that they're not good enough then fair enough but I'd rather us find out Couldnt get in the blackpool starting XI - find out - DONE Some of my mates are Blackpool fans and they said he was one of the stars of their season. I've not seen any qoutes with MON saying Bannan had no future?? I haven't seen any quote either Rainy. However, I was talking to a guy who works at Villa Park and he too is a fan of Bannan's. He told me that he heard it from someone very close to the player, whilst watching him for our reserves last season, that MON had told Bannan to look for another club because he doesn't have the physique to make it in the Premier League. The guy seemed pretty genuine and the person who he claims told him is a very reliable source. would surprise me, MON often talks about Young being 7 stone wet through or something like that and doesnt seem bothered. If we doesnt keep him it will be because he doesnt rate him as good enough.
  17. its a nice theory but if its true then why do so many people seemingly move for more money. Ashley Cole demanded a transfer over 5k a week didnt he? Look at pretty much everyone whos signed for City including a former Villa captain with over ten years service. Face it, a footballer will leave to double his wages, it matter regardless of what they're earning.
  18. ive been bitten by a spider and my leg has swollen up and gone a very strange colour. Didnt realise at the time so didnt even kill it, safe to say there will be a murder spree of epic proportions later (spiders only in case im being watched).
  19. No, in a reasonable world. just dont think its the world we live in. It's hardly going to get any better if people hide behind the 'it's the way the world is' excuse. I'm sorry but I see that kind of thinking as a big cop out for, on the whole, people who, either, don't want to try and make the world a better place or who don't actually want it to be any better. In my view what people are actually saying is 'it's the world I want to live in'. I think that if your really interested in a better world then perhaps slightly more mature and possibly educated people such as yourself and Chindie take the time to explain your points of view and feelings before branding a younger person like AVFCPOB "Pathetic" and "Lower than a snakes belly". We all make mistakes as you've said, but they surely they have difference in the degree that they are committed. For instance ive told the odd lie but wouldnt brand myself as a liar. The OP admitted that he would look at the questions of an exam that he had worked hard towards in order to better his future. While everyone is happy to admit this is cheating is it really fair to treat him with the disdain you would reserve for someone who has memorised answers with no attempt to research the subject material.
  20. No, in a reasonable world. just dont think its the world we live in. Dont know anyone who's lived the perfect life. Would you claim Snowy to have never broken any of the 7 sins?
  21. Here Latest attempt is £5.5m. I think it's clear what game they're playing. i think its great after the comments from Brady and co the other week about how we shouldnt bid for Parker as they dont want to sell and it just insettles clubs and players. I hope they keep bidding all summer in increments of 500k, get a bid accepted at the end for Dorrens say "No, why would i play for a slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag"
  22. In an ideal world, in this one nice guys finish last. Look at the questions, focus your studies, get on the course you want to go on and have the career you want. If you go through life worrying about upsetting people you'll get no where.
  23. I think you should just agree to disagree before the thread gets locked, you both have different opinions and Chindies is wrong
  24. were only talking about looking at questions not answers arent we? Sure it helps to research your answer but you've still got to provide the information and format your points. Im guessing this isnt in relation to multiple choice answers or something, on that basis i think its ok and isnt really any different to being told what subject matter to research by a teacher anyway, which as i remember it is how it happens.
