    I have a strange feeling we'll be signing James Beattie in January - things haven't gone well for him at Everton and today he didn't play (with a 19yr old rookie being prefered upfront) and I heard a commentator/pundit saying that Everton are looking to offload him... He appears to be the type of striker MON is after but I hope my hunch is wrong to be honest :shock:

    The papers today are reporting our alledged target Alan Smith is opting for a loan move to Bayern Munich over us, the Barcodes and Everton in January... maybe he's the makeweight required for them to sign Hargreaves?? I personally think we should be looking to sign a more 'physical' striker who'd give us presence up front and can hold onto the ball...

    I reckon the Milner deals done and dusted - Newcastle have announced that the Roedent will have cash to spend/waste in January - £4m of that will surely come from bringing Milner back home to VP.

    if we're after a target man - we should go in for Miroslav Klose or Luca Toni, the latter would be easier to get IMO due to the docked points at Fiorentina and the little hope of European football next season Ashton would be great but I don't think west ham will sell

    Angel regularly bags me 20+ goals each season and Bouma is wicked at free-kicks, I've had him score 15 goals one season!!!!!! Some of the stats are so far off - esp McCann's passing ability (way too high!!), have they seen him pass??!!!??

    Cheers - I fear that we'll agree a deal with one but have to wait around until all of the other bids are either tabled and reviewed before we can finalise. Hence taking up more precious time... I have a feeling Doug wants to be in charge for at least the first game of the season - looking smug and quoting how he's lead us into the new season and a great future.... :evil:

    SSN are reporting that the americans shown around yesterday are NOT involved with the Lerner bid and are also reporting the club WILL make some form of statement later today. A statement about what I don't know! I really hope that this is resolved sooner rather than later as I do replacing DOL. If Doug were (how I wish) to accept say Lerner's bid, does he have any legal obligation to listen to any of the other potential bids?? Or can he say, 'I've found the buyer I'm looking for, club sold'?

    I wonder if the club are asking the prospective buyers - who they would prefer to be in charge, ie Curbs or O'Neil??? and then install them at the club with the proviso that the deal goes through and certain ammounts of funding is allocated straight away??? I personally think the chances are very slim - it makes too much sense for a start :winkold:

    I read it too and replied. It's a shame he and Mike McKenna can't work out something together - one stronger appeal would work better than several IMO. However, it's great to see people caring about our club as our chairman so obviously doesn't in his present state. Good luck to all and they have my support to rid the club of the old goat

    I'm actually quite gutted about this news - ok, great we're up for sale and Dougy finally wants out but in the mean time, looking at our immediate future we'll definately won't be improving the squad during the Jan transfer period :cry:

This is following him stating we won't be involved in the transfer window in Jan due to no funds!!!     The papers have Notlob linked with Hidetoshi Nakata from Fiorentina - man, i've always wanted to see him play for us. He'd add an extra spark of creativity to our midfield for sure as well as a boost to shirt sales in the East - we've got to start looking at raising our profile over teh world.
