  1. Gary Charles was the best rb of the last fifteen years. Look at the video of Little's team, he got forward at every opportunity. Or was he a forward?!
  2. Excellent, I'll give it a try Rev, downloading it as we speak.... 8)
  3. Do you need a decent spec PC Rev, what's the least you need for it to run?
  4. Nick that's a bit of a lazy argument I feel. Because you don't agree with the view that he's lost it, it's a "one eyed view." That's a bit, um, one eyed to be honest. Last season saw Angel in terrible form for all but a couple of games. I'd say that's a realistic basis for the view that he's past his best. What are you basing your view on that he'll come good again? He's not 25 more, and he's had some awful injuries. What little pace he once had has now gone, I now think he'd struggle to beat Teddy Sheringham over 50 yards. What I noticed most though is his reluctance to, or inability to get a shot off. He was never the quickest, but his skill lead to him creating time and space for himself. Now though, defenders just get there first, or put him off his stride. I know our midfield doesn't create that much, but JPA doesn't seem able to create much for himself either. A 20 goal a season striker will put away a good mix of sitters and half chances. On the form of last season, JPA will be lucky to have 20 shots on target all season. I'd love Angel to have a good season, but I just don't see a player able to cope with the demands of the Premiership anymore. He'll score some of course, maybe even this weekend, but I'm willing to bet he won't get into double figures this season.
  5. It's a bit different if you've got the two fastest wingers in the prem as part of your front three, and the likes of Lampard, Makele and Cole in midfield! It just wouldn't work with the three players we've got. All three do their work in the penalty area, and only one has any real pace. None of them would want to do any work on the wings. And our midfield just wouldn't cope with the extra workload. Can you imagine a midfield three with one of them being Solano? We'd get torn a new hoop every match! It's a nice idea, but it smacks of the manager not having the balls to drop someone, which I'm sure isn't the case.
  6. Playing all three just isn't an option. I remember when Brian Little tried to shoehorn Milosevic, Yorke and Collymore into the same team with disasterous consequences. If we do get Baros, it'll be a seat on the bench for Angel.
  7. Pelle said: What about most of last season when he was awful. After a full pre-season I thought he was supposed to come back sharp as a tack. He looked like he was trying, but any decent defender will have him in their pocket this season. Then there are the constant offsides.....
  8. And what did he do for the following 85 minutes? How many passes before the goal do you count Bicks? A little lay off to the person who actually put the cross in isn't enough for our number one striker, I can't remember a single shot he had in the whole game.
  9. Hev said: Both he and Jlloyd were equally terrible on Saturday. It's a toss up as to who was the least use on the pitch. At least Samuel has time on his side, I fear we've seen the best of JPA at Villa, and it was two years ago. JPA's never been the quickest, but I think the injuries have taken their toll, and he's just too slow. The mind's still sharp, as his run past a couple of defenders showed, but he's too easily to deal with for the majority of Premiership defenders now.
  10. Well I took some advice off here (I think it was The Rev?) and have my tickets to see The Go! Team in Manchester in October. Looking forward to it now. What's a Sigur Ros gig actually like Pete?
  11. They actually show us as being pretty well skint actually. Not massively in debt, but without a pot to piss in without selling the land. We're just not being run well enough to generate enough excess cash to buy decent players.
  12. Where would that put yours then?! Somewhere around Spaghetti Junction?!
  13. When you're in a hole, you're supposed to stop digging Al! :winkold: Most influential on the right my arse! Don't remember him ever playing there!
  14. The Rev's right, for a while it seemd that every goal we scored was a contender for goal of the month on MOTD. In Saunders and Atkinson we had the perfect blend of frustrating skill, and out and out graft, but both knew where the net was.
  15. Ron for me. Closest we've coming to winning the title in years, and a great league cup win, plus some outstanding goals.
  16. If David O'Leary doesn't shape up soon, the order of managers on the poll above is how I'd rate them!

    Are You ?

I can't see anything to be optimistic about. We've been lied to about the quality of signings made. Overall the squad is no better than the one that finished last season, and there are still doubts over Delaney and especially Laursen's fitness. We only have two senior strikers. O'Leary is getting more and more negative about the club. If we sign anyone lese, it'll be a last minute panic buy. Ellis didn't croak when he had the chance. The latest accounts are as bad as ever.
  18. Oh just admit it Al, you've arsed it all up! Why not just add "best midfielder 2003 onwards whose name is Gavin McCann" and have done?! :winkold:
  19. Merson was supporters' player of the year two years running playing in the centre of midfield. When Gareth Southgate signed, he was a midfielder, it's not where he ended up playing though is it?!
  20. Where's Merse?! A shocking oversight of our best midfielder in recent memory.
  21. I'd have him at VP like a shot.
  22. Me three. One of the things I like about Vass is that he's our only striker that likes to work the flanks as well. Angel, Phillips and even Moore are all much more about getting chances in the box. He's not the most natural finisher, but he does a lot more work than the other strikers. I'd like him to stay and get Baros, as Vassell just gives options that the others don't.
  23. I think I'll call into the Thai takeaway on the way home, beats Chinese hands down.
  24. I'll think he'll mainly be used as back up to Solano on the right of midfield. He's a bit like Hitz really, scores a few goals but otherwise doesn't have enough of an impact on a game, especially when we're up against it.
  25. The usual suspects for beers: Al (LV) (plus Aston), Blandy, Jon, Bicks, Jon F, Denis, Mike F. Said hello to Ian R and Paul Barnes at the march, and bought a ticket from BC-lions once.
