  1. After last week in Cardiff I'm off to Twickers today to complete the England/Australia double header! Can't wait! Should be a cracker. Wouldn't be surprised to see us get tuned as the Aussie backline looks awesome and I can see them clicking and overwhelming our inexperienced boys. But at the same time, we've got plenty of potential. Who knows. Gutted that Manu and Corbs are out as they're probably my two favourite players (no homo ). Interested to see Tomkins make his debut after watching his brother last week . Here's hoping for a reversal of the score line, though!
  2. Really? Balls I was looking forward to that, big fan of the first one too. Yeah I thought it was absolute toss. Not even remotely funny. The mrs loved the first one but wanted to turn this one off. I thought it was basically everything that could've gone wrong with the first one, had it been in the wrong hands. Hated it. And it's not just relative to the first one - it's crap in its own right.
  3. Perhaps somewhat optimistically, I watched Kick-Ass 2 last night. I'm a big fan of the first one but I'm sad to say that the sequel was one of the worst films I've seen in a long time. It basically takes everything that was good about the first and gets rid of it. There's no anarchy or humour. The sub-plot with the girl was just awful and Jim Carrey was completely wasted. It can't feel good to be that director - seeing how much someone else made of the same basic premise and how much he **** it up.
  4. The whole final season of Lost was utterly, utterly awful and smacked of writers who'd lost the plot (pun intended) or just didn't care. But yeah, until that point it was great.
  5. Not a truly terrible performance but a thoroughly underwhelming one. We just have too many 'nothing' players who don't do anything particularly well. There's no attitude, no bite and we are beyond toothless in attack. I hate to single players out but Kozak and Weimann look gash. On a positive note, Luna MOTM for me. Kept Townsend quiet for most of the game and had a few decent moments going forward.
  6. Also 6-minute episodes is a terrible idea. One of the best things about Breaking Bad was really getting into an episode.
  7. He only scored one against Madrid as Taylor scored the first. Stan was only on for 25 mins or so but he had an impact! Hendrie was superb that night as well. I can't remember a hat-trick against Spurs? Maybe my memory has gone! Blimey my memory is playing tricks on me there then! I'm pretty much positive about the hat-trick though . think the hat-trick was a UEFA Cup game but not sure against who Jeez I must be getting old! My memory is shocking. Just checked and he only scored 2 (Draper got the other 2).

  9. Was only a kid when Stan was with us but two memories stand out for me: 1) His performance and two goals against Atletico in the UEFA Cup second leg game. Best atmosphere I can ever remember at the Villa. 2) Hat-trick against Spurs on Boxing Day, includi the injury free-kick into the top corner. However, I do remember generally being very frustrated with him as well, with such performances being few and far between.
  10. Hear hear! Up there with season 1 of Eastbound & Down for me. Although the new ones are slightly disappointing IMO.
  11. I'm actually quite envious - you've got a lot to look forward to . Heads up though - watch out for the new Netflix advert for it on TV... Filled full of MASSIVE spoilers!
  12. I was a little surprised/disappointed at the lack of surprises but at the same time, if anything had been a surprise it wouldn't have ended in the way I personally wanted it to and it wouldn't have been so immensely satisfying. I also thought that it needed a lot more Jesse! On the whole it was pretty much flawless and I found it a genuinely emotional episode. I'm absolutely gutted it's finished! Good bye to far and away the best TV show I've ever seen. I can't imagine how anything will ever compare.
  13. YES!!! Villa don't concede early and then take the lead?!? WTF???
  14. There must, MUST be a reason (or reasons) why we seem to start games so poorly. It's been going on for so long now that I've come to expect it. I'd be interested to hear Lambert's thoughts on this and what is being done to address it.
  15. I can't remember the last time a result gutted me quite as much as this. Feeling genuinely angry after that. Typical Villa - build you up and get you feeling positive then same old same old. Blurgh.
  16. Holy shit, that was good but how the hell am I going to hold out until next week?!
  17. I haven't seen Pain & Gain but it sounds like the sort of premise that would be awesome if it was done by the Coen brothers. However, as it's Michael Bay, I'm 99.9% sure that it will be utter shit.
  18. Ah yes of course, cheers mate . I really need to find the time for a rewatch!
  19. Probably goes without saying that this was awesome, as per. However, my memory is failing me slightly:
  20. I don't think it's writing him off to say that he was absolutely awful on Saturday, until he moved to RB, when he was slightly better. His inability to pass or control the ball reminded me of NRC... And he didn't do any of the good things big Nige did. Hope he manages to get over this and kick on!
  21. Has anybody seen 'The Arrival of Wang'? Looks intriguing. Wondering whether it's worth staying up for.
  22. I know, 3 points and a 0 goal difference after those 3 opening games is something to be positive about but I just can't help feeling really deflated after that game. Massively disappointed to lose that. I think Liverpool were there for the taking. After all the positive feelings of this past week, we've still just lost our first home game of the season without scoring. It's clear we're lacking a cutting edge and I'm growing increasingly concerned about Vlaar. He inspires almost no confidence IMO. On the plus side, I bloody love Delph. I felt as if he was a class above everyone else in a Villa shirt today and nobody else was quite on his level, in that he tried a few things, played passes, made runs etc. that nobody else read.
