  1. I rather enjoy a bit of underwater content. Love the atmosphere and that feel of exploring the unknown. I think it comes from being wowed by it in Tomb Raider 1. GW2 has some very well developed underwater gameplay.
  2. This game never stops looking amazing.
  3. You don't. No matter their religion, passionate fundamentalists don't subscribe to reason or facts - only faith with the promise of reward. Blinkered, willful ignorance is espoused as a virtue in their religious texts.
  4. Generally, the MMO with the biggest "wow" factor for a gamer is usually the first one they got invested in long term. And its likely they're actually just being wowed from experiencing the concept of an MMO rather than the actual game. The beginning of the Warcraft thread here is pretty telling of that - "huge world, we're all playing together, amazing!" etc. Many people still claim Ultima Online was the best "wow" factor MMO ever because that happened to be the first MMO they got heavily involved in. I'll bet that in 5 years time, for many people, GW2 will have been their first MMO and nothing will match the "wow" factor they nostalgically associate with it. Either way, whether a seasoned MMO player or new to the genre, GW2 is definitely doing something new. Its somewhat iterative rather than truly revolutionary but it gets the most important part spot on - its a helluvalotta fun!
  5. You can do group things at low level in GW2. In fact there is infinitely more things to do, grouped or otherwise, at low level in GW2 than there ever was in WoW.
  6. Well they've said they're working on Xen right now but what they have in mind for it (complete retooling due to original Xen being a bit shit compared to the rest of the game) means who knows when it'll actually arrive. I will say though that Xen in the original game made up a lot less that 25% of the game, there's not really all that much missing and the best of what makes HL good is present in the mod right now. Also, free.
  7. Yes. Here's the lunar rover tracks from Apollo 17. Taken by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in 2011
  8. If anyone here is on the fence about buying this game, just go for it. It's pretty spectacular.
  9. The whole moon conspiracy thing was done to death and thoroughly debunked in a VT thread back in 2008 but it doesn't seem to exist on the forum anymore.
  10. The moon landings happened. Fact. No, getting a living object through the Van Allen belt is impossible Anyway RIP No it isn't.
  11. Here's my guy in his fancy pants clothes.
  12. I rolled on Desolation but I might be transferring to Gandara soon. Undecided as of yet.
  13. This came today. Its rather big.
  14. Kung fu pandas and pokémon? What the hell happened to that game?

I recall them being well received. I managed to get them for free from some Steam deal ages ago. Still not played them though which is criminal when you consider the Monkey Island games are some of my all time faves (well, 1 and 2)

The Longest Journey is a great point and click adventure. Looks like shit these days but the reason its so rated - the story - still stands pretty strong. And yeah Shalebridge; still in my opinion the greatest example of horror in a video game. Best way to play it though is to go in completely blind.
  21. Depends on how bad you got it really. The nastier side will **** you over for a good while. About 15 year ago, I was struck with a particularly nasty dose and it left me bedridden and debilitated for a good 3/4weeks. Drink lots of fluids (water) and get lots of rest. Natural yogurt also helps.

So you like military/war games then? I'm not having a pop here, it just seems like even you're not sure what you have against steam other than the nebulous notion you're having your rights violated.

Devils advocate - its very pretty; everything else in it is vacuous hipster nonsense with prose that's about as deep as a puddle. The "hold W" experience for the terminally pretentious. But hey, for less than £2, its worth investigating to see what side of the fence you fall on.
