The stakes were much lower then and thats only 1 decision. The big decisions being made day to day around the club to me dont look that great. The players we've signed, the stupid video when Jack left, the disastrous coaching changes. I dont know what say he has had in all the things that have gone on and its possibly unfair but im just not confident atm.

This is a dangerous time for the club now. Get this wrong and it could be another downhill spiral for us and tbh i dont really trust Purslow and Lange to get it right.

I'm actually pretty gutted for the guy tbh. Not that surprised and a lot of his tenure was simply not good enough bought some great memories and really restored a sense of faith and joy around the club. Sucha shame the way it all ended.

I honestly think id rather take a risk on Smith keeping us up over a risky appointment like the Denmark manager, could be a Remi Garde disaster again.

Possible but he's always conveniently getting illnesses and covid every week despite being pictured training for the whole week before, something doesn't add up there.

The Villa socials seemed intent on making sure he was on the maining training photos all week so im not sure how he suddenly couldnt even make the bench.

Were in a relegation battle now, every single stat tells you that. How is him being given until January seem likely to you out of interest? Because to me and seemingly everyone else it seems extremely unlikely that he even makes the next week.

Yea the specific players is questionable but also the actual positions and priorities made. We seemed to sign individuals rather than signing players with an 11 in mind.

Well i hope the board are looking at some of the other higher ups at Villa too then, its not just Smith that is to blame for this. Whos is in charge of the consistently rubbish recruitment?

Percy is right to point out its not just the fact that we've had a bad run atm, its been consistently bad for a long time. Can't spend 300m quid and lose 20+ games a year. That is a relegation team, plain and simple.

Well yea in those terms its hard to feel sorry for anyone in elite football then but theres more to it than purely money, especially in this case.

He'll be the first manager for a long time i wouldnt be happy to be sacked. Obviously if the run continues he will be but even if he deserves it in the end i think i'll still be sad considering where we were and his love for Villa. Can be a cruel game sometimes.

Something about the whole coaching overhaul suddenly happening and players all losing their heads after what seemed like such a tight knit bunch of players just doesn't sit right to me. Shakespeare seems like a good bet as one of the reasons why to me, admittedly based on no inside knowledge, something has gone on behind the scenes.

It does all look very grim doesn't it? The way the players are reacting to his decisions as well looks so bad. All looks very ominous.

Things aren't going our way and we have a lot of injuries fair enough but more worryingly the players just don't seem that arsed. Really fearing for Deano at the minute, hes got an awful record since Grealish and some key back roomers have left and i just dont think the owners and Purslow will accept us being in even slight danger of a relegation scrap after all the money we've spent.

I'm not a big fan of Smith at the moment myself but if you want to see us lose 8 in a row so we get a new manager then i think you need to re-evaluate some things. That is just absolutely ridiculous.

I remember loving him in the championship tbh, maybe im just misremembering or maybe its the fact that United took him back and then didnt play him for two full seasons but he just looks so far off PL level at the minute. I hate to be too harsh to a player but i think i'd be pretty relieved if United got desperate and recalled him.
