  1. Everyone wants to be Brighton though, why most teams don’t take a similar approach who knows, there was lots of talk about us looking at Alvarez before he went to city but who knows if that was the case. The problem is now as well it’s not as simple as picking up cheap young talent from abroad, that young winger palace just bought cost 26 million, Forrest paid 20 million for a defensive midfielder from the same league last season, Brighton are about to pay 20+ for a 19 year old from ligue 1 too. So that model is now becoming more expensive as well as having more risk involved You could name signings from every season we’ve spent back in the league in relation to what our goals were at the time and credit our scouting, apart from maybe the spending of the grealish money.
  2. Why? Because we’re not taking a punt on a 23 year old who’s had one season with spezia? I could list all the signings we’ve made who show we’ve got a good scouting network. Backed up by the fact we have the third best value squad in relation to transfer fees and player worth in the league.
  3. He’s a European level attacker with an extensive injury record who didn’t play a full 90 for galatasaray, and don’t take this as me hating on him I’m excited to see how he gets on. But there’s good reason to be sceptical about how he’s going to adapt to this league. I don’t rate Bailey but he’s obviously one of our better options. IMO Coutinho is finished physically and anyone’s mad to think he’s going to be a difference maker for us. And I’m not against the selling of archer and JPB, my point was I can’t see us finishing with signing a left back and maybe a right back if they both leave but I should have been more clear, apologies.
  4. Bailey, inconsistent and injury prone, Zaniolo completely untested and also rumoured to have a groin injury, Duran is completely untested, coutinho is finished at this level and Traore is also not up to standard and also gets injured constantly. So realistically we’ve two attackers who up until now are up to standard and stay fit.
  5. If archer and JPB leave then we’re very light in attack, we’re already light there to be fair. Bailey and coutinho both suffer from injuries and it would mean we’re putting a lot of faith in Duran. Attacking wise our bench at the weekend was pretty desperate
  6. I’d be shocked if we haven’t tried or are trying for felix
  7. If we lose archer and JPB you’d assume we have signings coming in
  8. https://x.com/xgphilosophy/status/1439998349474664453?s=46&t=sTGvjtf6_DViKOnngWTX0w thread from 2021 but explains it. We overachieved the most in terms of expected points that’s all.
  9. Everton aren’t the worst side in the league to be fair. But great timing after last weekend and will be good for his confidence
  10. There’s no chance he’s staying here surely
  11. For what it’s worth Bournemouth almost had him in january, and their recruitment has been great recently. Almost had Jackson too who looks great for Chelsea now but was injured.
  12. It’s in relation to expected points. We over performed by 12 points last season, more than anyone else.
  13. Lovely cross not sure we have someone to get on the end of it though
  14. Never seen him play, stats look good though. Kamaras we’re much better before he came here so it’s hard to judge
  15. They had 55 million to spend on lavia and 110 to spend on Caicedo, they’ve priced themselves out of any other targets
  16. Suggest a 50 million replacement for him then if that’s the case, you’ll struggle
  17. Exactly, and why aren’t we being instructed to do similar. I don’t think we want to be the team Newcastle are, but it’s naive to think we’re going to pass around every team with quality players and catch them with an offside trap.
  18. Good review. Also chat at the end about our lack of pressure on the ball higher up the pitch which I’ve been banging on about
  19. It’s frightening, saw an article yesterday they’re planning on changing the rules allowing the long contracts next season. Bit late now. They have 22 players at the club on contracts longer than 5 years
  20. And we’re possibly moving out archer and Digne to free up our FFP position for a new forward. Why isn’t everyone taking advantage of the longer contract?
  21. If I remember right it was him under the previous name that knew about Ings
  22. Appreciate the reply, doesn’t seem to work for me though
