It’s a huge risk of course, but it’s not like we’re spending huge fees on players every window. Our current squad is full of players we signed for low fees and could make big profit on, so I don’t have a problem with adding a few of these Diaby type signings if it takes us up a step.

I think it’s probably to do with the fact we’re relatively low on the list of premier league teams most expensive signings. Everton paid 45 million for sigurddson in 2017 for example, it’s been going on for years.

But you’re quoting singings spanning over 4 seasons of windows where the club has been in very different places, different recruitment, different directors, different managers and different goals. Emery and Monchi have a history of winning, we haven’t had their quality at the club in a long time. Maybe we are overspending, but if this is who they’ve identified then we have to trust it.

If that’s what it takes and Unai wants him just pay it imo. If we’re to believe Doku is his replacement who id also be happy with he’s probably going to cost upwards of 40 million anyway and has missed 40 games in the last two seasons injured.

I think he’s a good player, and would probably benefit from playing a purely defensive role. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s starting on the bench this season with a centre back playing ahead of him.

It’s not that simple. We bought a lot of players which filled a gap for where we were at the time. 19/20 20/21. We’d make profit on 90% of our starting 11 now. But we don’t want or need to sell them.

Or you move to the best league in the world, do your ACL etc and suddenly you can’t get back to where you were. And that 350k a week is never in reach again. Neves has come out and said he put the money he was offered before his career as it was more beneficial to his family. I can respect both

They’re actually too completely different players to be fair so it’s hard to even compare them. Different roles and that.

I have to disagree here, rice drives with the ball and is much better at turning defence into attack. I think it’s very harsh calling him a plodder too. Kamara takes it defensively though. But their possession stats don’t compare.
