For what it’s worth his defensive stats are very similar to Milivojevic at place and Romeu for Southampton. I think he has potential to be great but not in the position we play him in

Are his defensive stats great though? Bissouma, Fred, Ndidi, and Rice all have better stats than Douglas. I don’t think playing as a CDM makes use of his qualities

I would be disappointed with JWP, don’t think he’s the answer when we have McGinn, Doug and Sanson. I don’t think he fixes our midfield issues

I disagree with some of the above, I don’t think we’ll be fighting to stay in the division and a lower table finish would be surprising. Losing Jack will obviously have a big impact around the squad but with the likes of Ming’s, Martinez and Young around I think we have enough leaders in the team to keep things together. I think Ming’s should be captain moving forward. I think we’re very lucky to have signed Buendia so early in the window and that could be a big difference in us starting strong, I’d imagine Ings won’t take long to settle he said himself in his interview he’s used to moving around at this stage in his career. Bailey is a worry in terms of getting settled but I don’t think we’re too dependent on him coming in and making a big impact because of the other two mentioned. I agreed this has been a funny preseason and I don’t think anyone knows how we’ll even line up next weekend, hopefully if the club sort a replacement for tomorrow we can get an idea of that. Douglas and the olympics is far from ideal and we still have a few weeks of the window to hopefully strengthen in midfield and at the back. But we still have a strong enough team to compete until then. We’re been very lucky with our first three fixtures and that could be the difference in how things look in a few months time IMO

If you’d have told me a few weeks ago we’d be signing Bailey for less than £40million I’d have laughed. We have the money to spend I don’t think it’s impossible

I would love a statement signing as a replacement, Oyorzabal would be huge but would probably cost 60-70 million. I don’t think Cantwell’s a bad player but 30-40 million is probably too much if that’s how much it would take for him. I don’t think JWP is the answer for midfield, too similar to Doug, McGinn and Sanson. Definitely an upgrade but still leaves us lightweight through the middle. Soumare would have been a great signing and I think with an Ndidi/Bissouma type our three options in midfield are good enough. I don’t rate Doug as a DM and think we’d benefit using him in a different role. Marv is good defensively but doesn’t have the ability on the ball or passing that we need. My signings would be Oyorzabal 60-70 Kamara(Marseille) or Zakaria 25-40 Axel - loan to buy

I dont understand why were still saying players wont come to a relegation threatened side, look at QPR and Newcastle? Both signing players that we would happily welcome to our team, dont think our position in the table is the problem
