  1. Ah yes. The Warsaw fans really took that instruction to heart didn't they?
  2. Full league programme happening over this weekend. We'll probably be fed up of Arsenal by Tuesday.
  3. From the sumo world, former yokozuna Akebono dead at 54. Probably not a big name to most. But back in the early 90s when Channel 4 used to cover the 15 days of a sumo tournament in one programme, he was one of the top dogs. Right from the era that first got me into sumo in the first place. American born and the first non-Japanese yokozuna in history (top rank in sumo). A true pioneer.
  4. I've a few responses here Should cruise control be a part of learning? Not for me, although I've no strong feelings on it either way. It's a feature, and by no means essential to actually driving a car. Personally, I like to know what gadgets my car has at my disposal, so I'll go and seek it out and experiment. But that doesn't mean it needs to be on a state course to get a licence. As for the second point about fewer traffic problems on motorways. Maybe I'm inferring incorrectly here that there's some element of added safety to cruise control? If that's not what you're saying then fair enough, I've picked you up wrong and you can stop reading. But if someone was saying that cruise control was in some way safer than not using cruise control then I would disagree with that. Cruise control, even to a tiny degree (and I'd argue it's not a tiny degree at all, but for argument's sake let's say a tiny degree...) requires an element of detachment by the driver from what is going on at their feet. That's kinda the point of cruise control. Leave it to the car. Now if something happens in front of you on the motorway requiring immediate action - as plenty of things in front of you often do on a motorway - then the driver who does not have cruise control on, is more engaged with their driving than the cruise control driver is. Even for a split second if it's to get your feet back into position or they're in position and need to find the pedals and apply them. For me, cruise control is less safe than not using it. After all, it's you doing less driving and having less control. Even in a miniscule way.
  5. Not sure. He probably should've started with a bowl of Bran Flakes.
  6. Cracking fight at the bottom. I'm mates with 3 Wednesday fans and their season has been very strange. Cut adrift early on, they've battled back, and seem to have been on the brink of escape for a few months now but can't quite get the momentum going. But it's so close now. Their form, and the form of the likes of Huddersfield has dragged other sides into it who would have previously assumed themselves safe. It's set for a hell of a finish. More interesting to me than the fight at the top.
  7. Yeah I guess that, or McGinn doing a Jack of all trades again in one of Emery's merry-go-rounds.
  8. Thank you for that. Very informative. Sounds like we actually have a few similarities stylistically in how the individuals match up. Sounds very much like it will come down to who will win the individual battles. Hopefully the Premier League quality will show through. But we're not above making mistakes, and our form has dipped recently, so it's not a bad time to be playing us.
  9. The addition of a solitary profiterole was the final straw for me.
  10. Africa used to be my weakness so I made it my strength. I guess the tiny islands, Pacific and Carribbean would be my weakest at the mo.

  12. Referee: David Coote. Assistants: Tim Wood, Mark Scholes. Fourth official: Paul Tierney. VAR: Peter Bankes. Assistant VAR: Nick Hopton. We've had Coote 3 times this season. The 4-1 victory home to West Ham, 2-1 victory at Brentford and the 0-0 draw at Goodison. He doesn't rate that highly amongst the VillaTalk massive. We liked his performance against West Ham giving it 72% and ranking it the 4th best overall referee performance this season. But we have him at 46% in 23rd place for the Brentford game and 33% and 30th place out of 32 for the Everton game. So, more of the West Ham performance please David. Unless he just has a home team bias ...
  13. 4-0 defeat and other results updated. Starting to look a little ominous now. Not that the Chelsea result was unexpected against 4th in the league. Next up is a trip to Arsenal, where I'd be amazed if we got anything. Then it's the 3 must-win (easier) games to finish out the season against Forest, Norwich & Newcastle.
  14. Attendance for this is down as 45,314 on fbref. That can't be right. That's nearly 3,000 more than the next highest (City @ 42,321)
  15. That's why he's the ultimate troll. Looking forward to people jumping on him now just as he gets exclusively used in the CL knockouts.
  16. Salah for me. He'll want to murder United and usually does.
  17. Ben I think it's fair to say things haven't gone to plan so far this week. Yet.
