My opinion is purely based on survival, relegation wouldn't be the end of the project, just a set back. A set back we could do without though. Staying up is and always has been the priority

Exactly, yes it's difficult to accept but we are ahead of schedule. Projects are often shitty for a while but things do improve. People forget how utterly garbage from top to bottom we were.

Wesley is/was one for the future. If he returns from injury he will be better next season.

Smith, Terry and the rest were employed IMO as a project. Villa are currently a project. Yes the performances and results are shocking at the moment but sacking everyone and starting again is basically failing the project. I can totally understand why people want wholesale changes behind the scenes and in the coaching set up but I think that would be a mistake. My patience with the whole situation is wearing thin, we have needed stability and financial stability for donkeys years, now we have that we need to have faith in what we have. Yes, Smith has his faults and no-one is perfect but he needs time. The first season back was always going to be difficult and we knew we would get some canings and the apparent lack of effort is down to the players IMO. If Smith et al get the sack then so be it, I just think it would be the wrong decision. This isn't based on blind faith, it's how projects work. Maybe we will be better off when we do sell certain players, that money can be reinvested.

The fans were great today, watching the post match interviews with City players and all you can hear is villa fans

God there are some glass half empty people here. Yes we were under the cosh for large periods, but we didnt give up. We should have defended the incorrect corner better and if it wasn't for the post we could have got extra time. Plenty of fight shown today and I will be much more disappointed if they don't show that same fight in the league.

11 games left, aside from the top 3 there isn't a massive difference between everyone else. If we can start to defend, even just a little better then we have a good chance of surviving. Surviving should be seen as success, even next season 11th to 17th would be a success. We have been sh1te for years and if we hadn't got promoted last season we probably wouldn't have Grealish, McGinn or Mings today. Smith's current unofficial target is survival, and he is trying to do it playing football not anti football. Christ I've just seen our remaining fixtures, scrap everything I've just said. Surviving won't be a success, it'll be a bloody miracle. West Ham away could be our biggest game in recent history.

Oh I'm a Villa fan, a non cave dwelling one too. I don't want him to leave but I completely understand why he would. I'd be disappointed if he went to the Manchesters but that is up to him and the board. I binned my claret n blue specs a long time ago but don't think for a minute that I'd not want him to spend the rest of his career with Villa... There are so many rubbish players that have won titles and trophies so certainly Jack deserves the chance to do the same. If Villa can give him that then even better
