  1. Ah, thanks so much. I was trying to work out how to say how much water is in the Pacific Ocean in a way that doesn't sound like maths. So for one audience, I think I can now say, "190 zetta gallons, dude." But it's so confusing with the changing standards, different preferences, different countries, etc.
  2. Thanks for sharing. My wife had just sent me this a few days ago ... trigger warning as the article is actually very disturbing ... we have kid about the same age.
  3. Had some old Russian friends over for dinner last night. They were saying how the war is on their minds from morning to night. They're desperate for it to end and very much rooting for Ukraine and also against Putin. I knew all this generally, but didn't understand the intensity of their sense of constant worry. They're Russian and Jewish, so that have a particular perspective.
  4. So underrated, always. Love 'em. This is fascinating. Where is it from tho? Never heard of. This is right in my zone. I could listen to these guys for the next 20 years and be reasonably happy. This video gives me weird thoughts. Weirder than usual. It's extraordinary. Such a culture-blending mind-****, you have to stand back and salute.
  5. This is how I always want to play on Fifa but my passes always get intercepted. It's flowing liquid football, innit?
  6. Great thread idea ... I picked Keep Bailey, Loan Philogene, but it's a deliciously horrible set of choices. My real vote would be keep both, of course! I think JPB and the club might not be hurt badly with a tasty loan deal, but Bailey is going to have to prove himself soon. He's a great player, but the standards are rising around him.
  7. It's always been my hope this summer that he slowly comes to the inevitable conclusion that we're exactly where he really needed to be, all along, but he wasn't there in January, IMO, and he wasn't there in June. Perhaps now he's gain a clearer-eyed view?
  8. Well, it never feels that way to me, which means there's probably something deeply wrong with me .
  9. The Atlantic oceans holds 190 "gazdojillion" (made up example) gallons of water. (I'm looking for the correct expression for 190 to the 21st power.) I don't generally understand how to convert these huge rows of zeros into word-based expressions because the zeros always confuse me.
  10. I hear you. Much depends on the price, I suppose? Archer scored 11 second division goals last year (it's not nothing), and he's came very close a few times in this summer series. Look, I'm all for upgrading if there's a great option, but where are you getting the "massive upgrade" from?
  11. I mean, yeah, we all trust in Emery, but not without a rationale. It's not so black and white. It's not a matter of whether or not -- it's a matter of how skilled in Emeryball our second keeper is whilst we're racing for the CL should Martinez be out for whatever reason. All it takes is one badly timed Martinez red card for us to lose critical matches. We have an abundance of mid-fielders and forwards and CBs. Don't we want to be shoring up manifestly weak spots? This doens't seem "bad day at the office." This is a huge blunder: I guess, but I don't think it's that simple. Fall guy = scapegoat = unfairly maligned. Not sure matters of fairness really come into it when you're looking at a keeper who doesn't seem to have the skills set we need. If the price is right ... it's a big if.
  12. Anyone know how to properly describe the number 190 to the 21st power in "illions"?
  13. Hey, you may be right. But where's the evidence? That's all I'm after. We need evidence, don't we? Just because someone played for Barça or Man City -- I know you realise -- surely isn't enough. We're not silly enough to fall for that sort of brand allure, I know. Not saying he might not be great, but I'm not seeing any persuasive arguments for Ferran Torres other than where he played and that Emery apparently admires him.
  14. Sorry! Fixed. I worked gainfully as a subeditor in Britain for a while and still slip up sometimes.
  15. Genuinely confused about why we'd ever be interested in Ferran Torres. Is there some parallel universe where he's scored lots of goals? I'd even favor the overrated Felix over him. What am I missing here? We still have a glaring lack of a second keeper option. There is utterly no question that's what we should be sorting urgently. We have a glut of strikers, midfielders and CBs. We could probably use a fast RB. Why are ****-ing around with striker talk?
  16. Here's mine. It's for two main systems we'd use as needed: Main system: Carlos-Mings-Torres with high line Secondary system: Cash-Konsa-Mings-Moreno with more traditional defensive line
  17. We have new and returning-from-injury players, and we need to decide how to use our resources best on the Villa defence. There are some strong personalities, there are leadership issues, there are player-development issues, etc.etc. It's confusing. Glass half-full version is we have amazing and interesting and versatile choices of defenders. Glass half-empty version is ... what a mess. We have a mish-mash of players with overlapping skills and yet big weak spots remain, too -- and we may need to recruit (eg, an RB). But time is running out. You've got to figure this all out for us and make it coherent. How do you line up only our back line now?
  18. Ramsey for Bailey and McGinn for Cash works for me. Out of possession, Moreno and Cash simply drop back and Bailey and Diaby drift wide and you get more of a 3-2--2-1. Aren't I amazing?
  19. So many possibilities, but would like to see something like this, with JPB (RWB) in for Cash or Diaby, Buendia in for Diaby, Konsa (in for Diego), McGinn and Kamara for Dougie and Youri, Digne for Moreno, and Archer for Ollie as subs. The tricky part for me is what do with all our midfield talent. Our midfield cup runneth over ... I also would have no qualms with Konsa starting instead of Diego in this set-up. I want to see Bailey back on the left.
  20. Just re-watched. Am I missing something big here? How is Schade not offside? The over-the-top through-pass is struck whilst he's past the last defender. Is there an angle I'm missing?
  21. Rubbish. We’re just very selective in our positivity.
