I'd prefer him to go out on loan and get regular game time. He's not going to be playing a lot with us this year, let alone start a game. A mid table championship side or top league 1 side where could start regularly could help him develop. Sitting on the bench at villa park (which he won't do often, I think the midfield seats are for Hourihane and Nakamba) and getting 2 or 3 more cup games is not enough progress.

Agreed. I think it would be weird to still sign a winger now. Barkley signing means jack stays on the left. A winger would be a back-up to jack or would mean Traore on the bench. I don't think a £18m player was signed to sit on the bench. We are not yet in that position.

I still believe there is a player in there, he just seems to struggle with injuries a lot. There might be some behind the scenes stuff going on, but that is pretty much all speculation. we have seen the player Engels can be (opening game against spurs last season). He had some bad performances too of course, but could that also be because he wasn’t 100% fit? I would give him another season, if there is no improvement we can still sell him.

I would not like it if we are to become a club that has to sell. Imagine next season no spending power unless we sell. That means losing our better players because the squad players wouldn't generate any money. Who do you plan to sell next summer: Grealish, McGinn, Luiz, Mings,...? it's not like selling Hause for £5m or Hourihane for £10m will give us a decent transfer budget.

Agreed, he's a decent option to have as a squad player. There are others that are higher up the list as potential transfers out. Nakamba puts in an effort, has good tackle but needs to improve his passing a bit.

Great news of him signing a new contract. I always found it strange that people see this as 'lack of ambition'. True he might be able to win more trophies elsewhere and I'm sure that many footballers will measure their career by their trophy cabinet at the end. But who remembers all the (part-time) players of the first Chelsea title under Abramovich? They'll have a decent trophy case, I'm sure. Jack has the opportunity to become a villa legend, if not THE villa legend, should he play his entire career at Villa. Even if he doens't win anythings, Villa fans will love him forever. I'm sure many teenagers of today would tell their children in a few decades about the times they went to Villa park 'to see grealish play'. It seems like choosing to be remembered by many people (global fan base) who know your name, but aren't sure when exactly you played or being remembered by a few (Villa supporters, not too few I know) like a superstar until he's old, buying him a beer 'for that goal against SHA after taking a punch' in pretty much every pub in Birmingham. Someone mentioned Shearer at Newcastle, let's hope Jack does the same. (I know Gabby only played for us and is our club top scorer, but his last few years weren't really any good, so there is no comparison)
