  1. It is true......but how long did it take him to start? division 4 in 6 seasons, suggests it could be 2, but I,m asking you.....but hey!.....each job has so many different challenges, it always subjective to make these kind of comparisons with teams in different countries to Uk. our guy has started almost immediately with wins......he just had a lot more to focus on.....so there is a tangible level of improvement. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  2. Of course he hasn't proved me right.....he is in the middle of an incomplete job. it seems You was expecting the job to be complete after one window, in terms of promotion.....does that make him no good or your judgment impaired? There have been many positives that have been written by many posters and to my knowledge you have embraced none....you say no one understands your point have you tried once to understand the counter argument.....no? you call us out for having a strong opinion, but you are equally as intransigent with yours. look, I have no issue with your opinion of him....I just disagree with you. you think the football is shit, so do I ......you think he can't fix it, that's where we go our separate ways. I was never expecting promotion this season, that's where we differ again.
  3. pete, that is exactly my take on it. and not to be a clever clogs, that is the precise explanation Graham Taylor explained to me in building a team......it can't be done( unless you get lucky) with your initial signings it has to evolve on a rolling basis of marginal improvement. but of course all that depends on the building managers base point to start with........we was possibly a div 1 side, when we went down from the Prem.
  4. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see Jack dominating his position and dominating the ball in to the bargain. He is friends with Delle Ali and he should be up there sparing with him, in terms of performances. Its a bloody tragedy for us, what he is producing.......I sincerely hope he can find his mojo from somewhere. A fully functioning all singing and dancing Jack Grealish, would have us rising like a Phoenix from the ashes.
  5. The most significant bit for me is ........6 seasons. The problem as I see it, We fans have no idea of the magnitude of some of these challenges and expect to have everything fixed in a few months. The poison we have had to change, will take some time. .....but we will do it.
  6. GH you may not be wrong.....but personally I just have a different opinion. The football is turgid I think he will fix it. I just happen to think, he will sign a few more players to try and fix it....I think he will. If he could fix it with the current crop he would, but a pre season may help too. at the moment he can't fix it with the current crop at the stage we are at.....he may bring in players that will help the balance. The midfield at present does not look balanced to me despite signing Hourihane and Lansbury......and that is effecting the other departments.
  7. That " choice" in his view may be by necessity.....its to be established or unearthed. That "choice" is very conditional IMO
  8. That is actually interesting Danny Murphy alluded to players playing in a number of position to learn the full game....I think we as fans can get a bit hung up with playing out of position......the Pro's don't seem to be so concerned with it......Mon was forever switching players around. Quite often I have read so and so Manager doesn't know what he is doing.......could it be it's us that don't get it as opposed to them.
  9. Its interesting how we all see the game differently......there is not one jot of jacks game I see in Gareth Barry.
  10. He could beat a man and see where it takes him like his last goal.....he can do it, why doesn't he do it more.
  11. Terry, I do get your argument, I really do and yes I accept that you have not asked for him to be removed. you think he is being too cautious.....nothing wrong with that, it's your take. I just happen to think under the circumstances he can't get his main objective of hard to beat any other way......frustrating but that's just my take.....as you have already alluded to, it may well change. However, in the meantime.....why don't you just write to him and ask him why he is playing so cautious and negative.....He may give you a feasible answer that is far more accurate than folk like me who is just prepared to wait until he gets it right.
  12. I think where the uncertainty comes in, or difference of opinion,is some folk think the players are all ok so it must be Steve Bruce. I am not convinced all the players are ok.......at the moment. It may well be he feels he needs more time with them......it may well be that he needs other players to get more out of them and improve the balance.....It may well be that he feels he has bought wrong and that he can't get from them what he thought.....Or as some are alluding to that players are ok and He us no good. Every poster will make his/ her own choice. whatever the problem in the shite football......I think he is the right manager and I think he will get it right.....but agree, it's not right at the moment.
  13. I am as light as Blackpool tower......perhaps a might have helped me.
  14. I do get folk are not happy with it.....FWIW neither am I rightly or wrongly it seems I am more inclined than most to give him more time. If he was happy with the football, I don't think he would come out and condemn it and if he could get us to win, secure points and play convincingly, I think he would.....don't forget we have watched turgid football from previous managers who called it "really excellent"......at least the bloke is honest. but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt and believe in time he will. if folk disagree......que sera sera.....its their call.
  15. So Tony Morley, Ken McNaught, Peter McParland, John Gidman, Des Bremner, Mark Walters, David Geddis, Ian Taylor, Brian Little, Colin Gibson. who I see in the corporate regularly Don't give a toss anymore......you 're having a laugh.
  16. Well none of us have monopoly on the right thesis, its just opinions. However, I have not heard one adverse remark towards Bruce from our ex pro's and they watch the games just like we do. I have not heard any adverse comments from the media pundits either.questioning his approach. I guess it will be interesting looking at the odds to go up next season from the betting industry.....that's always a good indicator.
  17. So by deduction am I to assume that if like he said that he will have a busy summer. And by doing so attracts the players to give us convincing winning football, you will be happy. even if SB is still in charge. is it fair to think if he delivers that, you will be happy?
  18. How do you know it's those players that they think are not up to it.
  19. Well I think that too is rubbish....anyone could clearly see how brittle it was, we nearly slipped back in to it in Jan/ Feb. and even when we was winning it was unconvincing.......of course we was not fixed, by any stretch. He has had to secure points and the spectacle is seconadary......rightly or wrongly, but that what he has done. I just happen to think If had been able to play a brand of football that secured points, looked convincing in the execution and went for the play offfs........He would.
  20. Have you considered the players around Lansbury and Hourihane at their respective clubs allowed their manager to play them the way they did. i think you may see a few surprises in the summer.
  21. I did say the possession stats was a tease and not just for you. I agree the caution as you call it ,is by design ,he refers to it as "hard to beat"as for over doing it that's a matter of opinion and it seems like it's not his. if you think he has overcooked it, fair enough, he maybe is trying to avoid conceding which brings me to the point, perhaps he feels at this stage, he can't trust them to do both.....and subsequently doesn't want to continue hemarogging goals. I hear him make reference quite often lately to the points you make about spectacle......He embraces that, so if it was entirely down to him I'm not sure he would. I am unsure why he hasn't fixed it yet, but I suspect based on his comments on Sunday that he will be busy in the summer, that he feels he hasn't got the full compliment of players to play lie we want. contrary, to what you alluded to, that I can't see it.....I can see it crystal clear. where we seem to differ is whose fault it is directly. If it is initially the players, it is his fault for signing them, picking them etc, etc. so in that context yes it is the managers responsibility.....but on that note, I think he needs the time to do it and if that means changing/ evolving players it can't be done in one window. I am not backing him unconditionally, but Despite me too, not liking the current spectacle, I think he is right for us.
  22. why don't you write to him and ask him or when he does a sports forum ask him. I did it once to Graham Taylor.....I got all the answers i needed and was more enlightened in the process....they can't always disclose their thoughts in public but one on one they sometimes do. .......don't tell me....it shows.....i beat you to it
  23. In isolation, absolutely not. but when your first priority was to avoid relegation, perhaps you could be forgiven for doing so.
