  1. But we had a manager that gave us a better spectacle, he launched the season with 1 win in 14 i just don't think it's as simple as you are suggesting.
  2. That's a fair response GH but you don't go from 4 wins in 18 months.......to 2 goals conceded in 9 games and 7 wins in 8......without growing pains. There has and had to be radical changes.....the acceptable spectacle may have taken a bashing in doing so. Example... "The bank/ Airline may increase security and in doing so, effects customer service/ experience. you are not wrong in what you are witnessing, I am with you......I just happen to think your expectation is a bit premature. just My opinion.
  3. A legitimate one. you obviously don't read all my posts, I have answered my take on why the brand of football is possibly the way it is......Steve Bruce's gesticulations from the side line during games, suggest the contrary to what you have him down for.....It is not commensurate with playing to plan in terms of the spectacle do you honestly think Steve Bruce is asking them to play in a way that has you with your head in your hands Sorry, I should know better asking that question. I think you are getting confused between what he is responsible for......and what the players are giving him.
  4. I am loathe to back a player technically better or not when there is an absolute chasm in their attitude. i would not touch a player with an iffy attitude with a ten foot barge pole.....positivity in a squad is sacrosanct. a bad apple, effects the barrel. We have had our unfair share of seeing it.
  5. what did Eddie Howe do before Bournemouth?.....its all a selective argument, Sheepy. He finished 8th in his first season with Burnley and in his 2nd finished 13th. The present spectacle is a result of where we are in the rebuild.....its not finished. do you not get that? Or do you refuse to accept the rationale? did you think one window and a few weeks was going to produce an all encompassing team that ticked all the boxes and sent the fanbase home in ecstasy. slowly, slowly catch a monkey.
  6. To set about proving their argument right. The take up of season tickets recently does not mirror your argument that football on display is abysmal unless the fanbase is suseptible to pain and grief. or the fans see this a progressive state as opposed to the finished article and suspect it will get better. I wonder which?
  7. Chris, I take your point I really do......but the more you are explaining it.....I am more convinced, not less that Steve is an asset for us. Ron Saunders was always teased with his philosophy about 110 % work rate.....similar derogatory remarks was made towards his style too. I was happy in total with Ron's Football.....so I will stay with Steves too, but bare in mind he had been with us months and I would suspect the spectacle will get better. out and out expansive football, you are probably right, he will never do that and Sir Ron wouldn't either.
  8. I don't think we are playing hoofball.....it may not be eye candy, but its not hoofball. ......has Eddie Howe 4 championship promotions on his CV......Jaap Stam couldn't stop us beating them at home......not exactly nailed on testimonials to your argument. I beg to differ, about them pulling their hair out....if that was the case it would seep out......no secrets in this world. pass and move is basic......but as a player, you can't be in control of a colleague....you may move and you may pass.....but he don't, you look an ass.....He is still working on it. ps The only time mutiny is a danger.....is when you are consistently losing....He has stopped that.
  9. Possession is important....but like all aspects of football, in isolation, they are meaningless. Football is a compendium of many many aspects. Possession for me, is never argued properly, it has to be accompanied by so many other important aspects of the game.
  10. Call a meeting to get rid of him.....there's a derelict telephone box in Aston to hold it in.
  11. I would suspect that if some of the fans who are opposed to Steve Bruce, put their reasons to him face to face/one on one......I think they would have a different opinion after the responses. Just my opinion.
  12. I agree with most of that......where I think i have my doubts is......Managers set the team up with what talent they have and what money they have at their disposal, that brings results.....you are right in the sense that judging by history, it is likely that the style will continue, because the talent we can attract may not lend itself to Expansive football or a model of it. However, If Steve Bruce, Sam Allardyce or Tony Pulis was fortunate enough to secure a job managing any of the top 6......The style of football maybe entirely different.....because they would have the players to play it. It is very difficult for a manager to break out of that mould, they can easily get typecast......sometimes "necessity is the mother of invention" I have no pre conceived idea's of what Steve Bruce will do, when we get promoted......but that is not saying you are wrong, its just my opinion. History, says you are right, but I prefer to think circumstances have dictated that history.
  13. Thats the type, that would add value to our pursuit of promotion.
  14. If in fact the football we are seeing at present, exists at that time. I suspect this team will not resemble the team you mention in the Prem.
  15. Not when the job is unfinished.....If it was, I would agree.
  16. Dave.....It wasn't meant to be harsh and I apologise to him if it comes across that way. If he thinks SB will fail and eventually it is proved he hasn't/does'nt .....what I meant was, that could be a miserable time waiting ( if indeed too....miserable is the right word) For my part, I think he will succeed, so if he doesn't, my misery will be when that has been established and he go's.
  17. I think you have to accept GH that many folk ( including the club) believe given the necessary time, he will deliver. you certainly don't, so I think you have a very miserable time ahead of waiting for him to fail and subsequently we sign a new one.......or he delivers what most of us including the club, think he will .......and you change your opinion of him. i guess we have to wait and see.
  18. I think the point you say about moving/ running off the ball is significant.....the player on the ball has no options, so subsequently gets caught, to compound the problem, which is another problem, they get robbed through lack of ball control and weak presence......in some ways ,hence the way they play. This problem has been with us for years. I think it is a lot to ask the manager and coaches to fix everything in such a short space of time.....slowly,slowly does it.
  19. I hope we keep Kodg......but hey........it will be like a revolving door moving forward. players come and go for all sorts of reasons, some good, some not good. we just have to make sure that we progressively improve and strengthen as we go. I would not surprise me if the team that gets us up, is somewhat different to the one we have now.
  20. I suspect Pete and its only a suspicion.....He is letting us all know about keeping the ball better, because if it doesn't improve he will do something about it in the transfer window. now judging soley by his comments, it seems he is not expecting them to be not keeping the ball well, so it doesn't sound like its anything to do with his BMH work or in fact his coaching. I would think it is a precursory comment to imply..... "I did tell you, now I've gone and got someone who will keep the ball better" Observing the building job of Taylor & Saunders and the amount of players that come a went ........I would suspect many of our players will be evolved if Steve has C 3 years here. I see the spectacle improving.....just like many things ....I don't know by when.
  21. Thats fine, so long as you keep my Beer Belly out of the picture......its a dead give away
  22. I think many of us are factoring in a process of progression, (which takes any manager time) and are accepting the fact the football as a spectacle is not great, but the results are appealing in relation to our stage of development. It is only an opinion GH and no one has a monopoly on that.....Including me and the anti -Bruce Brigade. If as an example... if you look at the 1976/77 team it took Ron 2-3 seasons to produce that football and that was without the restrictions of Transfer Windows. The demise we have suffered is not going to be fixed in total overnight.....some progress has been made, even though this season has been very much disruption. Where our arguments differ ( I think) We are making allowances for progression, but you seem to want it ALL fixed in one go almost immediately. You are not alone in what you are witnessing, but it will get much better..
  23. There are many ways of playing with this one GH I guess Leicester could say we relied on Kante too much and look what happened. We relied on Benteke too much and look what happened. I guess we relied on Andy Gray and Peter Withe too much too, in a way......and without them the story would be different. Most of the Premier League clubs would be dampened without their star striker. But it is a bit " If my Auntie had balls she would be my Uncle" If Kodjia isn't there or he dries up?.......but he is there and he hasn't dried up. For sure, its not an inaccurate statement to say we rely on Kodjia so much, but for me that is credit to him and an illustration that there is still much work to be done on the team. Just remember, this team is still "work in progress"
  24. The thing is the manager agrees with you......so by that deduction, I would say he has plans to remedy it. Now in a rebuild of the magnitude we have had.....It is reasonable to suspect, he has fixed a few problems and the one you mention is on his agenda. so don't be too surprised in the future if this debate becomes an irritation that has disappeared.
