  1. That is not surprising since he has lost 46% of the games he has managed us for and won only 30%.When you can't coach the so called "better" players we have this year to create chances, score goals, defend properly or even pass the ball as well as a League 2 team, then you have no chance of winning 3 in a row. This man is clearly incapable at managing at this level and it still surprises me that people still think he can. This year we will come closer to relegation than before and might actually go down unless Lerner grows a pair and replaces this clown and quickly. a] Stoke (W), Newcastle (D), Hull (W), Liverpool (W) - "no chance" of winning 3 in a row? b] He clearly is capable of managing at this level. He's not been relegated. By all means want Lambert out, but don't just make things up Hmmm, I think you might have missed out a little deafeat in there! When you factor that in, it highlights his shitness even more, because we couldn't beat leyton orient in the middle of a so called purple patch! He can't put a winning run together, full **** stop!
  2. In the time he has been here, we have NEVER won three on the trot, even times when we have won two on the bounce are very few and far between. There should be no expectation that he is capable of going on a Newcastle type run, because he just does not have that capability.
  3. Why? A great thread, where we can well and truly celebrate what we are, what we are all about, and where we came from. And you bring them into it? So sad.
  4. Based on what? Exactly ? Why does he 'deserve' a chance. IMO He's had a massive chance. He's had a chance to show he can step up from the relatively low expectations of a Norwich to a big city club like ours. He's had the chance to show how he can make that step up and improve something that drastically needed improving. He's had financial backing. He's had free reign to do what he wants. And what he has done is blow it. He has blown his chance, and that's because he is not upto the task. I have been saying for a long, long time the job is too big for him. That's not one of those throw away statements, I truly think he is out of his depth. When he signed Benteke, he said that the amount that the amount of he spent 'frightened him'. To hear our manager speak like, frightened me, because what it told me I'd that he has a small club mindset. That has been confirmed by his constant 'bigging up' of other teams and 'tough games' mantra. Again, small team mentality, which without doubt, has become engrained in the team, and also a lot of fans. This approach means the team plays with fear. Fear of competing, fear of taking the game to the opposition, fear of having a go. It mans we are very easy to play against, very easy to pick off. Every team in the country knows how we play. Thats why we will not improve under lambert, he knows no other way to play. He talks us down. He has talked our expectations down, leave him to carry on and he'll take the team down as well.
  5. An attacking style of football requires no more or less money than any other style. In fact a style requires no money at all. The absence of exciting attacking football is for me the biggest dissappointment regarding lambo. Where on earth is it, or anything even remotely resembling it ? You are right, a style doesn't require money but to do it properly it does. I could go onto a Sunday league pitch and tell them to play attacking football but if they aren't up to the job what do you think will happen? You can't tell the fans that the manager you appointed will play attacking football knowing full well the players available to him aren't up to it and then still expect it to work. 2 and half years later, with multi millions to reshape the squad to how HE wants it, with the players, style and football philosophy HE dictates, and we are still play awful, negative, narrow, ineffective 'football'. He has had time. He has had money. He has had his chance. Now it's time to **** him off.
  6. really don't expect to see him again.
  7. "I'd rather spend money on more poor quality players to at least help fight relegation than pay off another manager who couldn't make a cake out of horsesh*t." This is one of most incredulous pieces of shite I've ever read!
  8. Good post and I agree with a lot of this. I must say though, I don't think ALL of the players are rubbish, and with a decent coach/manager, I'd be confident this lot could finish top 10. However, the big gaping hole in this is that we don't have a decent coach/ manager !!
  9. If Lerner was looking to stay at the club, I doubt he would have spent the princely sum of relatively '**** all' in the summer transfer window. The only way I will believe he is back 'in love' with Aston Villa, is if he replaces the inept manager and/or releases significant transfer funds in January.
  10. Ok, so you have 'explained' the last few games. What about all the other stuff on that list that has been put on here recently ? How do explain that ? bad luck, no money, injuries ? Or just a shite manager ?
  11. Just a recap for those who may have forgotten. 1. Biggest defeat in premiership history (8-0 chelsea) 2. Worst start to a season since we've been in the premiership (his first season) 3. First manager since we've been in the premiership to have two seasons or more and hasn't achieved a top ten finish 4. Most home defeats in a single season ever 5. Most defeats over a season in our premiership history (20 last season) 6. Most goals let in over a season since we've been in the premiership (over 60 last season) 7. Five defeats in a row without scoring for the first time in our entire history 8. Six defeats in a row for the first time since we've been in the premiership and also beyond (47 years) 9. First manager to lose to a fourth tier side over two legs in a cup semi-final 10. First time we've gone out of cup competitions three years on the spin to lower league opposition? 11. 23 defeats in 36 games the worst run any manager has ever had at this club?
  12. Or, we might not get relegated with Lambert. Or, we sack Lambert and someone even worse comes in and takes us down. Or, we stick with Lambert and continue to play crap and go down. Or, we sack Lambert and get someone in who does the same job. Or, we sack Lambert and someone else comes in and does better than Lambert. There, I've covered all of the possibilities for you. Now what? Well done, thanks for that. I think you have covered all of them. Here is another stat. Villa have taken 89 points out of a possible 258 since lambert arrived. Factoring in all of the embarrassments to lower league opposition in the cups over that time, shows what a complete and utter waste of time the bloke is. He is a chancer, who needs to be shot(metaphorically) ASAP.
  13. So, we get relegated. But that's ok, because there is not another manager out there who could have prevented it. At least we know.
  14. I like him because I think he has tried his absolute level best to improve us, under the most difficult circumstances I think any Villa manager has ever faced. He's never shown any arrogance towards the club/fans and I think our situation is genuinely hurting him as a man. Ultimately I think he is failing and I'm no longer convinced he can turn it around, but I am not prepared to spit the kind of venom at him that others are. It's like a relationship that's gone sour. Some people are treating him like a bird who's gone and shagged their best mate, others can see he is loyal and has tried to make us happy, but no matter how hard he tries, it just isn't working out. There is no doubt that he has tried his best, as did TSM before him. Unfortunately, his best is nowhere near good enough.
  15. For me,Westwood is a perfectly competent, functional midfielder. But that's about it. The problem is, he doesn't really influence a game. The only game he has even done so is that Newcastle game, away, last season, where he was superb until he went off injured. But he has never come close to that level of performance since. Maybe, with better players around him to share the load he would progress, but right now, he looks like he has peaked.
  16. So if you are on a football field in front of 30,000 animated fans, get headbutted, verbally and physically abused you would keep your cool? By the 'letter of the law' Benteke should have been sent off, the law is a **** joke. what was said then ? The verbal abuse ?
  17. There is no defence for Benteke whatsoever. Had a Spurs player pushed a Villa player in the same way, we would have been baying for him to be sent off.
  18. I watched him leave the pitch before the ref had even finished blowing for full time. He couldnt get off quick enough, and its not the first time he has done that. I don't think the bloke gives a flying **** about anything anymore, other than his salary !
  19. you can if thats your only expectation ! This is a bit close to the old "I'm a better fan because my expectations are higher". utter drivel !!
  20. you can if thats your only expectation !
  21. "The last time that Aston Villa went five league games without scoring was March 1992. They have never failed to score in six consecutive league games." All is not lost. We have a new record to break.
  22. He has had over 2 years to sort his shit out. What is miraculously going to turn the team round between now and Christmas ? He is not going to suddenly become a decent coach over the next 2,4,10 games. He has PROVED over the last 2+ years that he is not good enough. Look at his record (and broken records), it speaks for itself.
  23. its not the points. Its not the league table (yet). Its not even the defeats. Anyone can accept a defeat (or 5) if there are positives to take away. Its the (lack of) style of play, Its the manner of the defeats. Its the lack of belief that we can complete with anyone anymore. Its the lack of progress on the pitch. Its the fact that many of us don't see how things will improve under this manager. And worst of all, Its the small club mindset that has seeped into Aston Villa.
