  1. I'd like to see Lowton tried there if we don't sign a proven DMF.
  2. As you say, for Westwood to control games more then we need a proper DMF so he can stay pushed up and not have to keep dropping deep. Guzan Hutton Vlaar Okore Cissokho DMF Westwood Delph N'zogbia Kozak Benteke That would be a solid 4-4-2 and we would have good options off the bench for all positions.
  3. http://www.mercafichajes.es/06/08/2014/aston-villa-atletico-opciones-chicharito/ Get him in on a 1 year loan. I'm concerned about Bent playing as our striker til either Benteke or Kozak get back. If we got Chicharito then Gabby could stay out on the wing and Weimann could play as back-up striker along with Bent. Doubt we will sign him but ya never know.
  4. I'd laugh if it was Joe Kinnear and then I'd cry uncontrollably for days. The only positive if it was Kinnear would be the names he would get wrong for our players, obviously Charles Insomnia would be a cert, Gabby Ibangedawhore, Tim Westwood and Libor Kojak. Then we could we could sack him.
  5. Team Name : BvC FC GK - Speroni, Begovic DEF- Lovren, Filipe Luis, Stones, Ward, Shaw MID- Delph, Coutinho, Cabella, Januzaj, Fabregas STR- Diego Costa, Bony, Riviere
  6. Any idea as to what wages he will be on? my guess would be 25k-30k
  7. Hopefully it is quicker than he is. State of affairs when we are getting excited over a player like this You've obviously seen alot of him then. Fill us in on whats so bad about him? Yes i saw enough of him last year in premiership and going on that i dont want to see any more. He started 12 games in the Premiership last season and it was his first season in England. You should probably reserve judgement til he gets a proper crack at it as it can often take a player a full season to get to grips with playing in the Premiership.

  9. LONG TERM CONTRACT Not really a statement of intent from Lerner at all. If he sells, the length of contracts isn't his issue Yeah that's true as it won't be his problem to pay the wages when he is gone but it puts us in a better position to have Cissokho on a long term deal incase he turns out to be a beast and we want sell him. It could mean a difference of a few million to his price so I'm happy enough with Randy in this instance for once.
  10. Well no obviously not but I would like to believe that the club would be interested in a player being 100% committed to the team than having an outside influence affecting things when they are paying the individual thousands per week. At the end of the day it's upto Lowton to fix that side of his life and if he deems his family or whatever else more important than Aston Villa then he is the one that should suffer and not the club. anyway that's enough on that subject from me.
  11. James Nursey ‏@JamesNursey 2m Cissokho should be confirmed later this evening & he's signing a long-term deal - which can be viewed as a statement from Lerner. #avfc Hopefully he is more informed on this than he was earlier.
  12. Bit of a silly comment. They've been together since school, I believe, and have more than one (3?) kids together. It's just possible that his relationship with his wife, and her happiness, matters more to him than football. And maybe, just maybe, that's a fair ordering of his priorities for him, no matter how inconvenient it is for us. It is in no way fair as we pay him a hell of alot of money to be a professional and take his job serious. He will only be a professional footballer for a short period of his overall life and if he had any cop on he would make the most of it. It seems to me like he is probably joined at the hip with his missus and that can be a good thing if she is a good woman but can also be a bad thing if she is a selfish control freak or the like. Bottom line, you don't know anything about their home life, relationship, marital situation or whatever. Yeah and I don't care about it, all I care about is what he does for Aston Villa because that's what he is paid to do. I'd be fairly confident that the club see it this way also
  13. I have a theory as to why these Liverpool fans have it in for Cissokho. If you watch him in action he has a funny running style almost like he is gonna fall over when he reaches a fast pace. That's it and I'd say that was enough for most of them to make they're shallow minds up on him and class him as shit. Moral of the story is 'who gives a fk what Liverpool fans think and lets try not to mention them again in this thread as it's a much happier place without it'.

  15. Depends. Liverpool shipped in 50 goals last season, so it's not exactly in this department they excelled. Take away Suarez and +/- 20 of the goals he scored/created and they are very much a team like Tottenham or Everton. Flanagan and Toure each got 1500 minutes or more on the pitch last season, none of them are exactly players I would love to have in our current team. Besides, how many minutes did Cissokho get on the pitch in the end? He was branded a huge flop, so I wouldn't use the Liverpool-argument in his favor Toure and Skrtel probably accounted for 25% of them goals conceded tbf.
  16. Yeah I like him, he has a good touch and a great cross. He will learn to defend better as he gets older but his lack of pace is what lets him down as a wing back. He can't recover when he is caught out of position which has happened alot while he has been with us. I'd like to see him play as a holding midfielder/defensive midfielder but I doubt that will ever happen while he is at Villa. Am fairly sure he had great stats for tackles won in his first season especially.
  17. This will be a great deal if it comes off at the price mentioned. I remember him being good at Lyon but hadn't seen him play really since he left them as I don't watch Spanish football and I literally can't watch Liverpool without getting an allergic reaction. I wouldn't read too much into Liverpool fans slagging him as LB has been a problem position for them so the pressure would be on for any player to come in and be nothing other than amazing and of the highest calibre to play for such a great team that nearly won the league last year until Stevie G fell on his arse and threw it away hahahahaha, sorry got a bit carried away.
  18. Personally I'd rather a midfielder similar to KSY than 'The Rock'. I want us to have another quality passer in midfield with Westwood rather than a guy who is described as not being good at short passes as we need to hold possession more, we were 3rd last for possession last year. Be nice if we could get both and we probably could judging by some of the shrewd business by Lambert so far in this window.
  19. Has he left? I've been out of the loop for a few days and can't see anything on newsnow about him leaving?
  20. If he had any interest in playing football he wouldn't have gone to City for a wage. Speaking to a lot of people in the WBA area, he is by all accounts a massive knob. Yeah I've heard them rumours but there has been plenty of great football players that have been massive knobs. Compare taking a gamble on him for 3m or Tonev for 3m, I know who I would spend the money on although Sinclair would probably be looking for a hell of alot more in wages than Tonev.
  21. Am fairly sure that Lerner basically said it was his decision in one of his statements.
  22. We only got to see the defensive side of Hutton under Big Eck, he obviously has alot more to offer in attack than we have seen before. Is it any wonder he looked shit in that season? Ireland got POTY that season and he was cack.
  23. The price for Sinclair has been rumuored to be £3m, he would be worth taking a gamble on at that price imo, unlike our other cheap gambles he has Premiership experience and if he could reach the standards of his season with Swansea then he could turn out to be a bargain. KSY and Sinclair for a combined £6m would be good business if we could get it done.
  24. Because we failed in our bid to sign Hummels
