5th play 4th. We haven't beaten Brentford since season 1946/47 when we did so at home and away. We have admittedly only played them six times since then but four of those games were in the last two seasons and it's high time we beat them again. On the positive side they have never won at Villa Park (we have won 2 and drawn the other 4). Three points are needed after dropping 2 points at Ipswich last time out so let's do it! The two home games that we did win were 5-2 & 5-0 victories. Would another five-for be asking too much?

If Bolasie has signed for Boro I would assume that we were not in for him. If we were and he chose them over us then he has made a mistake that he will regret and we can do better.

It's never too late. It's something the club should have done a long time ago but it's better done late than never.

Seems more than a bit prone to showboating. How many times do you need to beat the same player? He doesn't appear to have an end product and just runs around and around in circles.

Does he know it and is he prepared to accept it though? I'm not sure he would be prepared to drop down a division for a season whilst there might be a place on a bench for him to keep warm in London. Having said that, I'd like to think he would want to start games this season and would want to start them with us.

Sounds like a regurgitation of earlier links to the same players with a "loan by" date added this time by Birmingham Live. Having said that I would also say "yes please" and I hope these loans do happen.

Agreed I also think there are some decent keepers in the leagues below. I mentioned Bentley before he went to Brentford but I think that bird has flown now as they would have wanted more money than we could have spent on him during this window.

Comparing our results this season with last we drew at Hull last season and won there this time so that left us up two points. We won at home to all of the relegated clubs and did the same against one of the teams that replaced them (Wigan) last weekend. Today we lost the two points we had gained having drawn at Ipswich where we had won last year. For me we are now pretty much where we were last season. A win against Brentford (it's high time we beat them) would put us two points up on last season again.

Hesitant for their goal to put it mildly. He has not hit the ground running and has yet to look like the commanding and confident keeper we were looking for. Early days but signs of improvement will be needed before too long.

Two points dropped today. We really should be beating a team that were down to ten men for the entire second half. We need to beat Brentford now to keep pace at the top of the table and we need those loan signings as soon as we can get them in. We need reinforcements at the back and up front urgently.

Swansea need to be winning games like Small Heath away if they are going to challenge for promotion. To have managed a goalless draw without getting a shot on target against that rabble and to have been relieved to have taken a point suggests their new manager may soon be under pressure and that they may well end the season outside of the top six.

We could try squad rotation with our loan signings by selecting a maximum of 5 of those available to us for each game. It would be nice to have such an embarrassment of riches.

Fair enough. I think his performances for us have become worse following his sending off, I guess his performances had slipped before he joined us as well then (as Villan4Life & yourself have indicated and Dick has agreed) no doubt he would have been harder to shift from Swansea had they not done so.

Some good points well made above. He's also gone noticeably downhill since he broke Coleman's leg and was sent off playing for Wales.

Fake news I suspect. Clark offers Newcastle cover and he couldn't wait to leave us for them. I can't see what's in it for Ashley in letting him join us on loan (other than perhaps getting his wages paid by us and no doubt a hefty loan fee as well) even if Ciaran actually now wanted to drop a division to return to us. I'd rather have JT back with Axel also getting his share of games in the centre where he looks best suited so John's not expected to play two games a week at this advanced stage of his playing career. I'd ask him to have a word at Chelsea about them loaning a couple of players to us rather than to another PL club or a club in Europe whilst he's at it.

Three wins from our first three league games for the first time since Joe Mercer's minors did it 56 years ago and 8 points better off than we were at the same stage last season? Oh go on then. Any win would be nice and another 4-0 one would be even better.

I really liked the look of Tom Pearce at Leeds last season. He gets forward well and is an England U21 with 2 caps but his first team chances at Leeds will be few and far between now they have signed another left back in Barry Douglas from Wolves. He's 20 years old, has made 5 first team appearances and has scored one goal (a cracker from the edge of the box having made a good run). They have him on a 4 year contract but might be willing to loan him (even to a promotion rival?) so he can get games. They might even go a loan with a buy option. It wouldn't hurt to ask in my opinion.
