  1. If Chelsea really want to do that they could sign him for £30m and loan him back to us until we are promoted and can trigger a £35m buy back clause.
  2. "Villa signs for Villa" would have been some headline though.
  3. If they haven't they should not be looking to sign players like Jack.
  4. At least unlike Levy they can take a hint.
  5. If he goes there is no guarantee that the money would be spent on players during this window or the next particularly if he is sold with an eye on FFP.
  6. That's about right for Levy. Palace want £70m for Zaha so he's talking £25m less. We priced Jack at £40m and he was allegedly willing to pay half of less than half of that. I wonder if that would work for me at the Ferrari showroom? They want £242,033 for a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Shall I try offering £100,000? I've always thought it you can't afford something be prepared not to get it. Clearly Levy ignores asking prices and expects it to work. I really hope it doesn't!
  7. Is he eligible to play or warm the bench at Hull? If not, as Marvin once asked "what's going on?"
  8. It's reached the point where I agree we do need to seek a swift conclusion to this. Surely it's about time someone did something about us being bombarded by nuisance calls, first it's about PPI, then it's someone claiming to be from BT who claims to know there is something wrong with our computer and then it's Levy to ask whether we'd like to accept around £15m for Jack after all because Twitter and the press think we should!
  9. He couldn't wait to leave us and I don't think he would be in a hurry to drop a division to return. Nice thought though.
  10. If we didn't want to play him we wouldn't have asked for him on loan. Their demands for players they want to loan out are unreasonable. Fines for not picking their players enough..
  11. Who do Liverpool think they are to apparently ask us to sell our best player in order to get one of their kids for a season? I look forward to the days when we can meet them again on an even playing field and beat them as we did more than once in the past knocking their self satisfied smug grins off their faces in doing so!
  12. I think we may come to regret not doing a deal for Woodburn but Liverpool it seems made it difficult for us to do so. I like the Abraham link he could prove to be a smurftastic signing for us.
  13. Yes I've been trying to keep quiet about that because most Noses have not realised that we would have been playing Cardiff in the play-off final had they not stopped Fulham getting automatic promotion on the last day and I for one think we would have had a far better chance of doing Cardiff at Wembley than Fulham. Let's keep it our secret shall we?
  14. He plays cricket for England and is a very good all rounder. He hits the ball for six as well as the occasional bloke outside a Bristol night club allegedly.
  15. I would really love it if we signed Woods but I suspect paying the sort of fee Brentford would want for him would be the sticking point.

    Pre-match thread

Dreamt we went a goal up and then went on to lose 2-1 the other night. That's not going to happen I trust. Won't be an easy game up there but we really should have won there last season and need to hit the ground running this season. I'm thinking a close game with us shading it 85-0!
  17. I was surprised that West Ham signed Hugill and the step up hasn't paid off yet. I think he could do a job for us this season but would doubt a loan can be agreed for him or for Powell.
  18. Pity. I'm sure he would have got games with us. Perhaps they have offered a better deal to Liverpool money or game wise. I suppose it was too good to be true that they would loan us someone decent.
  19. I understand he is named after his grandfather. On the smoking issue, sorry to hear it did for your Grandad it did for my parents as well. So I agree 100% - Stub Smoking Out!
  20. It would be a cheeky way to get him back as a player by dangling a coaching role as a part of the offer but I can't see £15k a week clinching the deal.
  21. This would be an exciting signing. He will make it with Liverpool and is already an international. I agree that we don't want to be blocking our own talented youngsters but we also don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. Woodburn is a special talent and we will do very well to get him.
  22. Thanks. We are very much hoping he can have a great season with us and give you that chance to see him play at the lane next season in a claret & blue shirt. Watch out for us making a take it or leave it £50m offer to Levy for Harry next summer.
  23. Looking forward to the Ben Woodburn's on fire celebrations next season.
