  1. Whoever is playing in our defence isn't really helped by our regular snail paced midfield two which constantly gets overrun so leads to the opposition baring down on our centre backs and out=numbering them. Tbf even in the immediate weeks after Laursen's injury we didn't concede that many goals as we were playing 4-5-1.
  2. Yobo will do a solid job, shame for Jagielka. Everton will struggle to name a bench for the final at this rate, isn't Fellani on 14 bookings now? One more and he gets a 3 match ban.
  3. Plus no european commitments which may make a difference. We'll see, I still expect to finish above them but they're doing well now. Cracking manager is Moyes, always gets his team giving 100% for him.
  4. I actually fear Everton more than Arsenal at the moment for 4th place. The reason? After an abysmal opening 6 weeks to the season, the quartet of Howard, Yobo, Lescott and Jagielka have all remembered how to defend properly again (apart from one match since then of course! ) So with them regularly keeping clean sheets again and despite having no strikers, one of their midfielders is always likely to conjour a goal from nowhere so the winning formula is back. i do expect the way football works that they'll pick up their home form now and their away form will dip.
  5. I think so. There's no Derby in the league this season as everytime by Spurs has already won a game whereas last season I think the bottom half was the poorest it's been for a while which is why you had the top 6-7 all on high points totals.
  6. On a side note, Baros can't even get in the Czech team nowadays. What a waste of space.
  7. Got jealous watching Campbell lifting the cup, we surely have to be there sometime?! In fact, I'd regard the 5 year plan as a total success if we win the cup in one of the next three seasons.
  8. Good first half i thought in which Cardiff passed and broke well but Parry lacked composure on occasions. Then Pompey scored and then sat back for the entire game after that and Cardiff's passing decreased, actually after Whitts went off and they lacked ideas on how to break through.
  9. Cardiff playing some nice football but Pompey completely disrupting that by fouling them.
  10. Actually had Kanu as a first scorer so if Pompey win 2-1, I'm 33 quid richer. Cracking stuff so far, Paul Parry's got into some cracking positions but his composure has let him down.
  11. BOF, a draw will be fine between SHA and Blackburn unless we lose 16-0 to West Ham.
  12. Bolton have a good record at VP. Fear a 1-1 tbh due to the old boys coming back and performing above their capabilities but this is still a game we should be winning. Probably too much to ask for a clean sheet though!
  13. I agree London, that is a factor although quite a few prem clubs seem to be geting young south americans in now, Chelsea sign an argentina player recently.
  14. O'leary had money people. You seriously can't tell me there wasn't a better striker playing in europe who we could've signed for 6-5m or less than Milan Baros.
  15. I'd safely say Man. City's would be pretty good compared to last season... And Pompey's would go off the scale if you compare their home and away form to last season!
  16. to be fair joh west ham do have alot of injuries. i wouldnt call bellamy, [parker faubert aging players. Dyer and Bellamy are injury prone players and have been throughout their careers so Curbs should've known they'd miss games. Had to laugh when he said Anton Ferdinand being injured was a blow as Gabbidon is twice the defender Ferdinand will ever be.
  17. All I'd say is we should use every available media outlet to highlight this and ram down the throats what utter scumbags the SHA board are particularly in the week where Gold has been saying teams should lower ticket prices ffs.
  18. 4 straight 10 finishes with Leicester perhaps and two trophies. Whisper it quietly but they're actually the most successful midlands club of the last 10 years. And judging MON after one season ffs. Last season we actually gained more points than we had in 3 of the previous 4 seasons.
  19. No idea what this poll is trying to achieve. Little question Jose is the better manager but I'm still very happy with MON at the helm so is unquestionably the right man for the job. It's a bit like a poll asking- who would you rather have in the villa team, Leo Messi or Gareth Barry.
  20. Chelsea tickets weren't being sold on the O/S when I checked the other day.
  21. Crap for Fulham and will be crap for us. All managers make poor signings but you can usually spot them a mile off- everyone knew Djemba-Djemba would be a shite signing for example.
  22. We're not doing worse than last season. 06/07 Liverpool- 0-0 Barcodes 3-1 Fulham 1-1 = 2 points. 07/08 Liverpool 1-2 Barcodes 0-0 Fulham 2-1 = 4 points.
  23. We actually bid for Doyle in January which was rejected by Reading. Defoe I get the impression is someone MON rates and someone who's realistically gettable, we apparently tried to get him last year in the August transfer window but he wanted to see. However, after a season of bench warming, I'd be amazed if he's still with Spurs next season especially if they sign Bent. At 7-8m, we could do worse.
