  1. Young could've gone, don't think the ref saw it that clearly. Might have got away with a yellow. What's the excuse for Howard planting the ball about 500 times before taking the goal kicks?
  2. Everton players are made of glass judging by the amount of players that went down after nothing tackles so that suggests the reason for the injuries.
  3. Almunia should've caught the corner anyway, no one was challenging him. Fair play to Spurs, didn't think there was any way they would win that game, typical Arsenal decide to lose to them for the first time in 100 years now. Oh well. And on a relate note, Redknapp putting in Danny Rose. Is he any better than Delph then or is a manager shock horror throwing a curve ball in his team selection that throws the opposition a bit.
  4. Must admit, I usually have a lot of respect for Everton and what Moyes has achieved there but they really wound me up with some of their antics last night. Taking throw ins longer than Delap does for Stoke, Howard constantly replanting the ball before taking goal kicks, Pienaar dead and then sprinting a minute later. Hettinga injured and then deciding to come on and waste another minute to come off and Cahill should've been sent off at 0-1 as he was on a yellow and tried to rugby tackle Gabby on the halfway line but Gabby was too honest and stayed on his feet. You're not winning anything either so stop acting like your Chelsea.
  5. Tis true. As ever first goal is crucial. If we get it, I back us to win. If we don't, I don't.
  6. Good Everton team that but they look to me that they're playing the season out, 0-0 at Wolves and 2-2 at home to West Ham don't suggest a team going hell for leather for a top 7 place. 2-1 to us.
  7. What's your team news for wednesday AG? Any new injuries?
  8. Spurs play awful football with Crouch upfront but they did create far more chances with him upfront. They'll do well to pick themselves up for the Arsenal and Chelsea games. Palacios has a 2 match ban now, Jenas has disappeared off the face of the earth and Thuddlestone looked crap after being injured so no idea who they'll play in central midfield and Kranjaer and Corluka could barely walk at the end. Big chance for us to be above them in a few weeks time.
  9. So let's see what people think Spurs will get from their next three league games, at home to Arsenal and Chelsea and away to Manure. Defeat at Old Trafford and Chelsea I reckon and a point against Arsenal (although wouldn't surprise me if you turned them over). Would leave you with 59 points from 35 games. I think you have more chance of winning the FA cup than finishing 4th or even 5th tbh.
  10. Not really bothered with them coming back up, them going down last season was the biggest football laugh I've had for ages so not going to bother laughing at Newcastle anymore as they've suffered enough. I actually think they'll stay up reasonably comfortably but they're a long way off challenging for top 8.
  11. Monumental win that, considering they had a makeshift midfield and have loads of injuries. Given I reckon 4th will be on 68-69 points, Spurs only need 4 wins and a draw or two from their last 8 games and they've still got to play Pompey at home which is a nailed on three points and towards the end Bolton at home who'll be safe by then and are crap away and Burnley away on the final day which would normally be tough but they'll be relegated by then in all probability. Apparently Spurs are 2-1 for 4th so might stick a fiver on it as I don't really want it to happen so might aswell get a small financial benefit out of it if the worst happens!
  12. Why does it have to be 15M +? Surely it can't be beyone MON to find a striker from europe or even the U.K in the 7-10m bracket who'd be more effective than Emile flipping heskey?!
  13. I watched Spurs play at Wolves and it was literally long ball after long ball to Crouch for 90 minutes... They play much better football with Pavlychenko and Defoe up top.
  14. Can't believe Gabby is getting the stick...would've given MOTM as I thought his hold up play on scraps was brilliant and he ran Carragher ragged. It was a decent chance but not as gilt edged as Downing's who should've burst the net. You simply have to take a chance like that in a game against someone like Liverpool.
  15. Delph's started a couple of games and has been more involved e.g. on the bench than Naughton has, I'd confidently say. Should've gone to Everton.
  16. Just seen Spurs linked with Micah Richards, they haven't signed a RB for...oh six months. As predicted, Kyle Naughton has retired from football.
  17. Must not lose game. If we do Liverpool will be two points off us, Spurs probably above us and Man. City possibly level on points. 1-1. Would defo have NRC in for this, him, Stan and Milner as some sort of trio and push Downing up just off the strikers.
  18. Just back. Arsenal deserved to win but it was never a 3-0 game. Infact at half time I was very happy with what we'd seen, we weren't attacking much but neither were Arsenal with much quality either (Eduardo looks like a terrible player nowadays) and so I was daring to dream we could nick a win at the emirates yet again. I was happy MON identified the need to make a change when Arsenal started peppering our goal early in the second half...but in hindsight NRC or Sidwell on to add a bit more energy into the centre of midfield rather than Carew straight on for Heskey would've been wiser. Still at 1-0 and with it coming to 10 minutes to go, Arsenal were starting to drop back into their half but that great breakaway from our free kick killed us and the game. 3rd goal was academic but probably the worst we've conceded all season, Diaby just strolled through the middle of the pitch. Not too disappointed as I've always sad I don't expect to finish above Arsenal. I do however believe we can finish above Man. City, Spurs and Liverpool so Tuesday now becomes a must not lose at least. Let's hope we have enough left in the tank for then.
  19. Park up somewhere outside London and get the tube/train in would be my advice. Chiltern there and back with tube tickets included is just over 20 quid for adult ticket.
  20. Anyone on the 9.40am Chiltern train from Snow Hill then?
  21. BTW for Liverpool to acquire 55 points from 28 points, they're going to have to win 9 and draw 1 of their next 10 games. Their next ten games includes us, Spurs, Everton, Arsenal and tricky trips to Wigan and Stoke.
  22. Couple of things to argue the toss about with PB. IMO I think under 70 points will get 4th this year as an example to get 70 + points this season Liverpool will need to win 14 and draw two of their final 20 league games. Does that look likely? I think we'll get 67 points this season which stands a great chance of 4th in this moment in time. If as PB suggests we get 20 points from our next ten games, that would leave us with 55 points from 28 games and I have to say that would be a very very strong position. I think 16 ot 17 more points from our next ten games is more realistic and would still put us in a cracking position going into the final straight. Also, did Chelsea really outclass us hugely. I know they created a few chances in the second half which Friedel stopped but I wouldn't save they were gravity defying saves, more just hit straight at him! Even if you do beat a top 4 side, you know with their quality, your keeper will be worked throughout the game. That was the case at Anfield but given it was just a week after the Wigan shambles and a team still without key signings, that too was a superb result. I too agree with PB that we still lack the ability to control games and still tend to play backs against the wall and break but again the new organisation of the midfield is still in it's early stages so let's see how it progresses over the second half of the season as the signs so far have been hugely encouraging. One final thing, most successful teams have rock solid defences, infact very rarely have I see a team win a trophy in recent times with a shoddy defence. MON has finally cracked the defensive unit so again let's see how far that takes us.
