  1. Evening general. Great stuff with the news training ground, excellent to see the pictures on the site. Just wondered will the old training ground still be used e.g. training pitches and will fans still be able to watch training at the new complex, hopefully at a closer distance than presently.
  2. You over for the Man. United game next week General? You may not know we have an abysmal record agaisnt them so a nice little rallying cry to the team before the match would certainly be useful! :winkold:
  3. Ashton is a brilliant striker, look how we outshone Crouch in the cup final. West Ham have a good few players I wouldn't mind us raiding, not sure on Reo-coker but Benayoun and Gabbidon would do me fine.
  4. Well, one of the things I don't like about modern football is the fact now whenever a players shows a bit of promise above an average level, a big club who might not play him signs him e.g. SWP, Walcott rather than let them develop actually playing games of football for another year or something. Yes, Arsenal have been linked with Bale but Clichy is there already and he's only about 21 isn't he. He is a good prospect but I'd prefer him to stay with Saints until the end of the season.
  5. Bale scored another cracking free-kick yesterday. only 17 though so probably better to let him develop a bit longer at Saints tbh.
  6. Interesting. Got any evidence for this statement? I remember him going on loan and cheering when "that" club stayed up... Rocafella in defence of Man Utd shock - :winkold: The reason he did well at West Brom was that they played him as an attacking central mdfielder. Goes back to Manure and has been woeful as either a left back or left midfielder as seen against Crewe recently where afterwards Fergie said he'd be back playing for the reserves.
  7. A player of Wayne Bridge's quality is not going to be happy as 2nd choice for ever but yeah they are a bit light on defenders although Terry will have to have a leg amputation before he misses matches!
  8. Three players who I'd happily sign Roca. Not sure about Richardson, did alright for the Baggies as an attacking central midfielder but I don't rate him on the left.
  9. Manure actually have 4 left backs if you count Silvestre who's played there countless times in the past and Richardson wh oplayed there very badly last season so one will currently be avaiable. Evra's done alright although the way he plays, I think he'd be more suited to left midfield. Henize's still better though and got another injury from the world cup so has missed the first month or so of the season and is still a bit injured but once fit he'll be first choice and so no chance fo coming to us.
  10. When they get relegated silly. :winkold: Nugent just scored against Leeds, 3-0 GET IN!!!!!!!!
  11. Dean Ashton when fit would be fit the criteria perfectly as a targetman and being British.
  12. Now there's a player i'd love to see in a Villa shirt. no thanks.
  13. 1-1 draw I reckon. Their midfield is superbt (Solano-Parker-Emre- Duff) and could well piss all over ours or we always struggle against 4-5-1 teams at VP and they could play that with clown ameobi up-front on his own. There defence is very poor however so I'd be disappointed if we didn't manage a goal against them.
  14. Glad that's been cleared up then!
  15. Well, I'm still confused. Does the bid deadline eun out on the afternoon of the Reading match or not?!
  16. No. So it won't work out like that... Thought so so close of play on Friday 25th August then. Lerner can still be at VP though as Niall Quinn was in the directors box at Sunderland before he'd taken over.
  17. This brilliant brilliant night is getting even better! Do they count weekends though when you can bid?
  18. As has been said before, in that sense I suppose it's very much a win win situation but I've not like Padfield and his bid intentions ever since he couldn't be bothered to get off his holiday and bid and thus still very much prefer Lerner's intentions. I agree. We need to keep an open mind to avoid potential heart break. Like I said a few pages back, for Padfield's bid to beat Randy's, it would have to exceed his (Lerner's) bid and thus must be very exceptional.
  19. Don't forget this Padfield lot didn't want MON as Manager and instead preferred the managerial dream team of John Jensen and Michael Laudrup......!!! I don't have much knowledge of how bids can be won but surely the shareholders could just refuse to sell their shares to Padfield if as it seems everyone's so much in favour of Lerner?
  20. 20M for MON now and another 30M in January is what I have been told and read.
  21. Agreed. i'm still hopeful a deal will be struck by the end of the week or early the week after and Lerner will be watching the Reading and Barcodes matches, not yet in full charge but as good as.
  22. So gut feeling again time, will something "big" happen this week. Methinks the start of the season will froce something to happen.....
