  1. Well, that's always the barometer of the consumate proffessional. No, I'd expect our players not to be in any risk of this, and these 2 players people want to sign would be a very big **** risk... Should we have sacked Mellberg becuase of this? manure sacked Cantona? A lot of footballers are t**ts in different forms. Hendrie has lived a very comfortable existence at VP for the last 6 or so years, I don't want him gone because of his off field antics but his coasting on the pitch performances. Thankfully MON has seen sense.
  2. The fact people want either Barton or Bellamy, when people have driven out Hendrie because of his antic's, do you really think either of these players would be a good idea... I mean please somebody think of the children! Or maybe even Hendrie has driven himself out for not being good enough. Just a thought.
  3. Well I've actually said on another site that Kone would probably adapt better to the prem than Farfan but considering Farfan isn't a natural striker, 16 goals is very very good. Kone's only scored two in the champinos league, scoreless against Liverpool and Arsenal so I wouldn't read too much into that. Kezman point is very valid. And the winners of the prem for the last two seasons have played 4-3-3 if yo uwant to go down that route. Different formations suit different teams better, would Bolton be as effective if they played 4-4-2. Not saying it's the long term answer but we looked more defensively secure and much better attacknig with a 4-3-3 so I would like to see it given another go seeing as we'll probably just be playing out the last 10 games.
  4. Is this the same Arouna Kone who has scored less than the brilliant Jefferson Farfan who's a winger. Lets not settle for second best again. :winkold: PSV play a 4-3-3 so surely only a matter of time before we go back to playing that.
  5. I've heard Spurs have already agreed to sign Barnes in the summer.
  6. I think Spurs enquired about taking JPA on loan last season when Mido went off to the African Nations cup. Not sure on Keane, does have the magic to conjour goals out of nothing but isn't consistant enough. If we're gonig down that route, wouldn't mind a bid for Tevez who was excellent today and I think at the right club where he gets the support he deserves and who are stable e.g. not West Ham, he'd be tremendous.
  7. Kamara was looked at for the January window I understand. Brilliant this season for Albion and too good for the Championship so it's whether he can step up and score goals consistantly in the prem.
  8. Massive fan of Dean Ashton but I doubt he'd sign as back up to Carew and you couldn't play them in a partnership. Darren bent wouldn't be a bad alternative at all though!
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't TS encouraging listeners to create wierd transfer spottings e.g. one I heard was "SWP drinking outside the Brentford ground" so I think that says it all for credibility. Different story if it was in their sports report.
  10. Been great for Fulham and a bargian for Wigan at that price, wouldn't mind us putting a late bid for him. Apparently Coleman got fed-up with Diop continually returning from playing for Senegal and being injured. Coleman's done well again this season considering he's lost a potential top 6 standard midfield from the start of the season in Malbranque- Bullard - Diop- Boa Morte.
  11. At this stage last season, I think we had 27 points and the previous one 31 points. Both those seasons though, we had shite form in the run in from around march so the opportunity is there with the fixture list to have a good end of the season and break the 50 points barrier.
  12. TBH, it's a good old debate. Didn't really appreciate the majestic nature of the old trinity until it was knocked down. That said, I wouldn't completly diss the new stand as yes the outside could've been better fun but the facilities and view are top draw. Probably best to start a new thread rther than put this on the general thread.
  13. I'd expect it to show we're still 5 points better off than at this stage last season not level on points. :winkold:
  14. It's uplifting comments like this from the General that make me realise having a poor run and dropping to 10th isn't that big a deal in the long term. Have a happy Christmas and great New Year general!
  15. If we've got a 20m war chest my top 3 target would be: 1. James Milner 2. Darren Bent 3. Gareth Bale Get these three key components in and we can be serious top 6 players.
  16. Mr Ismay will be leaving Villa after Christmas i thought you might like to know. Ohhhh interesting little tidbit there that will please some.
  17. Does he really want an answer to that?! Just for that comment I REALLY hope he does leave them for us. Likewise. Maybe because we didnt treat him like shit for 18 months! Have they? When was that, whilst he was at us? :? Or how about a few months ago when they were happy to wash their hands of him and then suddenly at the last minute deciding they might actually need him in the sqaud while he was having a medical at Bodymoor.
  18. I'd say Balde's recent inept performance against Manure will be enough for us to stay clear.
  19. Yep, and just like Barcodes when Barry's new contract was the "special" announcement, Ismay will announce...................... Isiah Osbourne has signed a new 3 and a half year deal. :winkold:
  20. No, I mean just after they do the handshakes and before they announce the teams, majority of people will be in the ground at that point plus I'm not saying don't do the H/T one, just doing it also before the match would really get the atmosphere going at that point while would you be as enthustatic if we'd jsut played an appaling hal and were 3-0 down?
  21. Depends on the game aswell General. Quite liking the idea at the moment of doing a quick introduction of Ron in the directors box just before kick-off to really get the atmosphere going as I fear if United play like they normally do and go 2-0 or 3-0 up at half time, the celebrations might be a bit flat at h/t. But as you say General, it's what Ron wants and we should respect that.
  22. That's brilliant general! One of the things I've thought would be a good idea to be considered would be a sort of open day a week before the season starts, either at the training ground or Villa Park where fans can go along to see the new signings presented, sort of a follow up to the excellent idea in October. Also would like to see a pre-season tournament at VP with some good foreign teams playing us, I'm sure you're aware other teams do it.
