  1. Do you know when it starts on 5 Rob?
  2. Ah, The Pine Barrens. Just brilliant. It's quote fest from start to finish. Here's two: Tony: [over the phone] It's a bad connection so I'm gonna talk fast! The guy you're looking for is an ex-commando! He killed sixteen Chechen rebels single-handed! Paulie Walnuts: Get the **** outta here. Tony: Yeah. Nice, huh? He was with the Interior Ministry. Guy's like a Russian green beret. He can not come back and tell this story. You understand? Paulie Walnuts:I hear you. [hangs up] Paulie Walnuts: You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator. Christopher Moltisanti: His house looked like shit. Chris: For all we know, he could be out there stalking us. Paulie Walnuts : With what? His cock? In an age where genius is over-used, it doesn't do justice to that episode. EDIT: Stole my thunder there gizmo, although in quoting the full conversation, I think I come out on top :winkold:
  3. The Wire, by a street. Followed by Sopranos, Deadwood, Dexter and the Shield. None of which are on this poll. :? Neither are Brotherhood, Band of Brothers, Madmen, Six Feet Under, House, Boomtown, etc, etc. Forgetting the others, missing off the Wire and The Sopranos, arguably the best two shows to be on TV anywhere, ever, let alone US shows from the last 10 years is criminal IMO. The West Wing is probably the best on the list. I wouldn't put Lost, Heroes, Prison Break or 24 anywhere near my top 10 to be honest. Mindless arse the lot of 'em.
  4. United have been singing this about Giggs for years. And there's the Joy Division/Manc link there too. Not original enough.
  5. Actually I quite like that - it's in the true Olympic spirit of the all-rounder. I believe it's based upon the old skills that a soldier would need - running, swimming, horse riding, sword fighting and shooting. All in one day. How Boy's Toys is that? Aye, that's right. Specifically a 19th century soldier. Some wag suggested on the BBC website the other day that they should add pillaging french villages to the event
  6. Do you mean without the world's most popular sport? I see what you mean, but if it's not taken that seriously in that sport's community, then I don't see much point. So yeah. Let the other sports have their day in the sun.
  7. I think what Chris is saying is that, unless the event is the pinnacle of that sports 'cicruit' (for want for a better word) it takes the shine of putting them in the Olympics. I'd agree and would go as far as saying that if, like in Tennis and Football,, other events are held in higher regard, they shouldn't bother with them at the Olympics.
  8. Fair enough. It's one of my favourites.
  9. Boxing? One of the oldest, hardest and most respected Olympic sports around?
  10. Number 11 batsmen? Did nowt but make the odd catch? Not a Wisden subcriber then Stevo? Synch swimming for me. Just saftness of the highest order. Interesting use of the term 'queers' in the initial post mind. Walking is definitely a ridiculous sport, but how gay someone looks when participating in it has no effect on my enjoyment as a spectator. As anyone who knows of my attendance at last year's England bi-sexual XV vs the Navy rugby match will testify. The score? 0-0, but there were 5 tries and 2 conversions.
  11. Sullivan was on to him from the start. Probably why it was edited out.
  12. I'm 32, with about the same number of hairs on my head as years under my belt. Would never even dream of wearing a wig, going for hair transplants or any of that daft Shane Warne carry on. A weekly trim with some no-guard clippers and job's a good'un. The amount of blokes I see who are clinging on Alan Shearer style to what remains of their barnets, shunning shaving their heads, never ceases to amaze me.
  13. A biometric underclass eh? Blimey.
  14. Lee 'Scratch' Perry - White Belly Rat. Bit harsh on Bob, but a belter none the less.
  15. Good stuff - I'm a big fan of the Fiver. Was it one of the in-depth maths answers, or the piss-taking 'I can't beleive how geeky some of these reponses are" ones? Just remembered I had a letter published in the Guardian Weekend magazine - a response to some Alexander Chancellor pomposity. You know the discussion about 18 (I think) sided dice the other week? I was the pedant who pointed out the picture wasn't a dice, as it didn't have any numbers on it. I had another one last week too but I can't remember what that one was. It wouldnt be a dice either - because 'dice' is plural. 1,057 others also pointed this out.

I was the pedant who pointed out the picture wasn't a dice, as it didn't have any numbers on it. I remember it well. You were lucky to be chosen from the 1,056 other pedants

  18. Read Hemingway's 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' recently, and it has moved straight to the top of my all-time favourite list. It's flawless - every word is absolutely necessary and absolutely perfect. Just brilliant. Just finished "The Promise of Happiness" by Justin Cartwright, which is excellent too. Anything by Ian Mcewan or Iain Banks usually hits the spot, as does Harlen Coben or Michael Connolly when I fancy something a bit more easy going. Just started on some Stephen Ambrose as I fancy watching Band of Brothers again, and want to get in the mood for it. Pegasus Bridge is first up.
  19. At least a 12, but as long as she is pretty I could go as far as an 18. Big boobs are a must. Also, I tend to get along better with bigger girls as they tend to be much easier to get along with and share my carpe diem type philosophy. A generalisation I know, but I can only speak from experience. Basically, Thunderbirds are go! (sorry for the casual sexism, but I couldn't resist!)
  20. Wouldn't mind seeing them play together a few times first. But on paper, this season's by a good distance. In fact, I'm going to alter my fantasy team to include at least one Villa defender/keeper
  21. Us 32 year olds, prefer 19 year olds
  22. And what age-group is that, out of interest?
  23. More than one type in my day, but that hasn't been for some time. The odd toke on joint now when one is going around, but that is very rarely (like once or twice a year). They're not really my thing, but I only found that out after trying one or two out. Not that I had any bad experiences, just personally they don't really do it for me. The older I get, the much less interested I am in anything other than a few pints, and a shared bottle of wine with a meal.
