Last season what was the best result we had against a top 5 team? We beat Liverpool away. That was it. This season we've already beaten two big fish.

Nothing is ever a guarantee with this Villa team. We could be hopeless against Hull. I'm hoping we put in another decent performance and I think we'll draw the game depending on how Lambo sets us up to play.

I see a load of United fans bitching about they have had a "hard start" and thats why they are where they are in the table. They've had: Swansea Chelsea Liverpool Palace City West Brom Whereas Aston Villa have had: Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Newcastle Norwich Man City Arguably we've had the harder start and have more points than United. Props Paul Lambert. Just saying.

I didn't write them all off. I said the defensive problem was looked at. I have said plenty of times, go read through, it takes time - maybe 6 months - for the players to be judged. Retract that statement. But didn't you say we've only brought in one player who's capable of making a difference?

I don't understand how you can say that we're just going to be a club who wants to survive for the rest of eternity. Maybe this needs to happen first for a few seasons as we regain stability and then we can start to push for the top again. Not only is this Narrow-sighted. Its short-sighted as well!

As in Villa have said 4-6 weeks but are secretly keeping it under wraps that he's actually only going to be out for 3 weeks. Belgium play internationals on the 11th of October. I would hope that would be the case, but i'm unsure as to whether Christian Benteke would be too happy about it?

He was fantastic towards the end of last season. Its just a dip in form i'm positive of that.

As long as he's back against West Ham & Cardiff (games we need to win) then i'm okay with it. It may give other players a chance to shine.

Its so frustrating as we were doing so well at the end of last season its almost like we're back to where we started again!

Very happy he got on tonight - didn't think he would. Look fairly comfortable on the ball and was asking for it a lot. Also put in some decent crosses. If he presses on hopefully he gets some more game time, but now we're out of the league cup we've got to wait for the FA cup for him to have another chance I think.

Have to be fair and honest about this lad tonight. First half he was decent and made some good saves. Was a bit slow to come out for the Defoe goal. Second half he was absolute garbage. 2 near post goals are not good enough for this level. Admittedly not a lot he could do about the 1v1. Hopefully he gets some needed practice in before we play him in the FA cup.
