  1. Haven't checked but when is the Lagos leg of their tour?
  2. It just needed to be said. kind of like a nice big shi*e. You just feel so much better afterwards. I bet the police and bailiffs had the same feeling at dale Farm.
  3. Can I just add that I do get kicks from seeing the filthy, scrubby, tinkers suffer. Quite like it really. Its like reading or hearing that a top Al-Qaeda operative has been killed by a US drone. HURRAH, one for the good guys! Just Al-Zadarwi and that big fat cow from Gypsy weddings to go and my 2011 is complete. Add a Villa win on saturday and I'll be pissed as a fart come sat night.
  4. Fantastic understanding cop killers! Total human emapthy? Perhaps, if kindness entered yesterdays situation...
  5. Its not hate - that's such a childish term - for Makoun. For most fans N'zogbia and Ireland are given more breathing space becaiuse they have shown qualities of the highest level at previous clubs. makoun was sold to us by houllier as the type of holding midfielder that we needed who could also picka pass or two. We never saw that and so ran out of patience. It also didn't help top be fair, that he looked like a 15 year-old boy with the ehad of a 30 year-old man. i think for Makoun as well is that he never get the pulses racing and isn't a headline grabbing type player. For Man City and newcastle/Wigan Ireland and N'Zogbia are. So, we're giving them time to get our pulses racing again. makoun was the wrong type of signing and for that type of player to come in they need to show they can be top drawer quality immediately. makoun didn't show it, I didn't think he was ever going to be able to do it, but he was just the wrong signing to make.
  6. Impossible to compare. Southampton are a team on teh uip playing as a team with confidence. brighton were the same but have now hit the buffers slightly. Southampton have maintained that winning mentality from last season and it does not matter what division you're in your supporters just want to see you win. lets see the atmosphere and the attendances when the winning stops.
  7. maybe ian brown's vocals aren't the best, granted. but Reni's drumming is world class. mani's bass playing stands up to the test of his peers and as Risso said (this is becomin to often now...) if John Squires remembers what made him good and not think its all guitar solos, then you'll have a great band back together.
  8. Brilliant news. I hope they don't taint their memory but I think they were too good to do that.
  9. The real indication of how an economy is performing is its construction sector. its the first to go into a downturn when the economy goes tits up.
  10. Their position from winning the league Cup to relegation 2/3 months later has nothing to with off the field activities.
  11. Welcome to a consumerist, capitalist society. Any of you that vote in any election is given tacit acceptance to the current state of affairs. You don't like try and do something different to change it. Either work within the system to change it entirely, or look for a different way altogether. At the moment all we hear is more of the same but witha different name.
  12. Reykjavik. Which means something like Smoke Bay. Nyapyidaw (Myanmar) was a real source of frustration for me. Took me about 20 time to get it right. When everyone knows perfectly well it's really Rangoon. Didn't know they had changed it until 30 secs ago when I read Michelsens post , more embarrassingly it was 2009 when I was there and I was sure it was the capital city ... Rangoon Is now called Yangon ,think it was changed in the late 80's early 90's It didn't actually change but the military rulers called it Yangon at the same time as Burma became Myanmar. We do not officially recognise it as such as the democratic movement has been surpressed. Until they decide on the name change rather than the autocratic regime we use Burma/Rangoon. Although Yangon is now more widely used Myanmar isn't.
  13. Personal debt is what banks and the High St thrive on theough so that won't be tackled. Plus how do you do it retrospectively? you don't giver out mortgages? then the banks stop lending, which affects businesses which are needed to stimulate growth. the housing market grinds to a halt. How dfo we get out of it? Well we ned to stimulate growth somewhere somehow. Mind you we can start by scrapping trident.
  14. Id be more than happy wih heskey to stay for another couple of seasons but at a reduced weekly wage. i think he'd probably jump at the chance of a contract extension also. I think he's been okay for us - no more. he was good last season until he got injured.
  15. may be boring but he did still get them relegated. you look aty them now and what do you see the current League Cup winners or a side playing in the Championship with all their 'stars' having jumped ship? Oh, and for their smallest budget nonsense theyw ere the 3rd highest net spenders over the past few seasons. As you were saying, yes they had their highest finish in the top flight for 40 odd years (lets not give Prem only stats as that is crass), yes he took them top a Cup win, and despite all of that he still managed to get them relegated. Good effort. Now, in light of that why did you think Lerner took him on? Because of his proven track record? Or he knew he could get a manager on the cheap? It shows a huge lack of ambition, a lack of forethought, and a lack of a plan whether business or football.
  16. So McLeish is just here to find another manager? oops...I doubt he'd make a big a mess of it as randy though.
  17. I don't think anyone is asking for a top 4 squad at the moment. What we're asking for is to look at the mistakes previously made and make sure they don't happen again off the pitch. Who rubber stamped the deals? What is the business plan now? People look at Leeds and don't blame O'Leary but Risdale for chasing the dream to the point they broke. We're not there but surely there needs to be a business model put in place to make sure our 'plan' is to simply sell our best players, or cut those on ridiculous wages until their contracts expire and then go out and just find cheaper players that will come in and do the job better. As I said, back to mediocrity. that all works if you find a manager experienced at finding a manager who is expereinced in finding gems putting them together into a team and going forward. is that mcleish?

I seem to remember the youngest pro player was 15 and a lot of days.
  19. No, but one or wo injuries again (remember them if not see last season) and the cupboard is hardly full of ready replacements. last year our two best players more or less kept us afloat by suppying Bent. They've gone. The team is disjointed. An injury to gabby and Bent and then what's left? An injury to Petrov in the middle and what's there? We're just drifting again. its the shocking slide to mediocrity that is angering people and the realisation that Randy hasn't got a back-up plan to avoid it rather than selling our assets and hoping the kids come good. Who's fault is it that we're going back to being a club that are a top-flight non-entity? That's arguable but what isn't is that we should be patting Lerner on the back for past efforts. Doug got those in 68.
  20. So, you're happy with the way things are at the moment? You think that 2 wins out of 7 from our very easy start is a good return? As for the good youngsters that's all they are at the moment. Good youngsters there's no guarantee even one of them will be first-team regulars. And whilst Rome is burning let's just pat ourselves on the back that we have Darren bent. great, but who is going to create for him? Clearly the playing side needs 3 or 4 players minimum. We can't get them because of our wage bill. We need to get more players out before we get players in and you think what we have now is good enough? We were better last year and we struggled for most of the season. We can't get more players in because as a business we have been poorly managed and now those big birds are coming home to roost. As defines Villa we haven't grabbed the bull by the horns when we had the opportunity to do so. We're sitting back crossing our fingers and hoping that what we have is good enough. For the first time in a long time if we combined a Villa and Fulham team, Villa and Stoke, Villa and Newcastle we'd find a lot more of their players getting into our team than has been seen for a while. And ask yourself who's anti-football would you watch if you had to all things being equal, that of Pulis or McLeish? randy is now constantly getting things wrong off the pitch. No matter how many free coaches are laid on big changes in personnel behind the scenes are needed. the car crash that is faulkner is the first.
  21. You haven't noticed? Selling all our best players and not being able to replace them because of wages being 80% or so of turnover. Not being able to shift those we never play because they are on extremely high wages. No? none of that ringing a bell?

He'll be at a "crossroads in his career" come next year though. Liverpool bound.
  23. Say what you like about randy the fact is that this season he is pulling up the drawbridge. Probably too quickly. In a way its a microcosm of what is going on with the nation's accounts. Randy has done a lot of superficial good things such as nice new windows, Bodymoor Heath, a pub, and some free coaches. But, the reason we're in this mess is because he just allowed O'Neill to spend willingly on overpriced overpaid 30 somethings. And then they were just stockpiled and never used. It is now clear that teh General was just here to tell us that Randy is great and for us all not to criticise him. How often did we hear that teh General hoped Randy didn't read any criticism? Intended to make us stop in case Randy wondered why he bothered. Many of us fell for it hook line and sinker and rushed to the General's/Randy's defence if a post questioned the board. Teh General was here simply to keep us on message and that message was that Randy Was Great. message sites were falling over themselves to get the General to post on their site. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but we all fell for the amazing PR of teh club. Now look. Randy has been shown up for the poor businessman that he is. I haven't said this too many times but I agree with Risso. he hasn't worked for his millions and has just pumped money into his plaything hoping it would be great. O'Neill probably told him it would be and he beleiebved him. he now realises that he's not as rich as he needs to be to get where we want to. A lot of people said that he needs to have a football man as CEO so that there is a bridge between him and the manager. We got Fitzthingy who for some reason didn''t last and now faulkner who is out of his depth here. I'm not looking to ship the owner out just yet as someone keen for a plaything is always useful. but as long as they have some savvy people behind. get rid of Faulkner - get in someone like Stride and also possibly a Graham Taylor figure. Then the stock of the club would rise, they would identify what the club and the playing side would need, and we wouldn't have the same half-arsed farcical managerial selecting.
  24. Part of the reason we're in this mess is Labour and their "ideas of how to stimulate growth". No its not. The financial meltdown meant that repayments from loans faltered and most of the World's economies suffered. Its wasn't banks that caused this it was capitalism. Now, we're still trying to look for answers in the same system. it won't happen. Its like choosing to put a plaster or savlon on the wound. One way is possibly quicker than the other in helping us get better but in reality we'll just be back here again unless real change is imlemented. As it is I do beliebve that Labour's idea for growth will stimulate slightl;y more than the govts. Is it risky? Yes, because we're looking at borrowing hoping to improve the finacial situation. it may work, it may not. The Tories current plan will also work - eventually - but at the price of many more unemployed. 6 of one if you like. But until they system changes the players and the problems will not.
