    Alan Hutton

Agreed. Though Hutton has looked one of our better defenders (not saying a great deal) over the past couple of games. he's settling into a little bit more consistency something missing from Warnock's game. And yes, i know, somebody will quote the post saying he's consistently shit.
  2. Because he missed an opportunity to score on his debut? Not only does that sound harsh, it sounds ridiculous. Give the guy a chance, there are plenty of times every single game in the Premier League where proven goalscorers fluff their lines, let alone 19 year old midfielders making their debut. it might sound harsh but it is a fair point. Van Persie can miss an easy one but he's got more than enough brownie points stacked up in his favour for it to not matter (in terms of whetehr his place would be questioned) and of course he scored later (van Persie). Anyway, the original point is valid. I though Gardner had a good game and was very promising and looked confident - but the chance should have been tucked away. I disagree with it being teh difference between him being dropped or not as I think he will be kept in simply because his confidence levels will be sky high - remeber the 30 yard free-kick? to have the balls to want it and actually take it takes some doing for a kid just coming in. but, he simply has to score those easy ones - or he'll never be anything other than the Noel Whelan standard.
  3. Not really that fussed to be honest. I'm slightly concerned that we would look at getting rid of our central defensive cover at this moment in time but unless McLeish is happy with what is left behind then I'd be surprised to see him go now. As for him being our best defender well that's a matter of opinion. i rate him as a defender but he's poor on the deck and has a propensity to dive in and gets beaten to easily when being run at. If I'm perfectly honest I'd like to see Collins, DFunne, and Cuellar all being replaced by better.
  4. I don;'t think he looks any better, if aeven ona par, with Steven Davis at the same age. Admittedly Bannan has got a great pass on him but itsw too intemittant and he's struggling to make good decisions when he comes on. Again, it could be an age thing and he may improve, I just don't see it.
  5. To be fair that is just bland meaningless bollocks. Not enough winners? What exactly does that mean? Too many players happy to coast along - who? We've got the players not playing in a choesive unit. Nobodies 'coasting' that's Chelsea. Getting rid and bringing new players in - welcome to roughly 17 out of 20 prem teams Lawrenson your drivel spouting shitehawk.
  6. Shit - 100% scoring rate? This fella must be good. £25m please Mr Huges.
  7. If he did that in about 4 and a bit games than I guess he'd be right.
  8. If we sold Bannan i think the world would keep turning and it'd just be another player going who is still only a prospect and nothing more.

Why ask the question if you don't like the answer? Andy Carroll has been poor this season but I'd still take him over delfouneso. Or Adam Johnson over Albrighton. Or isn't that allowed either? not everything claret and blue is necessarily brilliant.

back to 4-5-1/4-3-3 then. Clark will sit with Petrov giving ireland freedom to roam and brake from deep. Gabby on one side and NZog/Albrighton on the other. I don't think Mcleish likes that formation though as he doesn't seem to use it. But if teh personnel are there you have to play to their strengths.
  11. Erm...have you seen the state of our midfield lately?? Yes and I don't see how a player who looked poor for most of his time here could have beedd anything more. We need either a good tough tackling box to box midfielder, which Makoun is not, or that creative spark that can take people, has a bit of spark and can light up matches, which makoun is not. What we already have is someone who can pass 2 yeards and then get the ball and pass aother two yards, and then be crap at tackling. As i said, what exactly would makoun bring? Intelligent one touch passing, closing down, tackling, somebody who wont hide from the ball, an out ball, somebody to collect the ball from defence and get things moving. Do i really need to continue? No, if that is the player Makoun is then get him back. However, the perfiormances on the pitch for us, and presumably for Olympiakos suggest that the player you are seeing is not the one in the flesh.

  13. Again, regarding Makoun, based on what? And try and answer without saying anything about Man U.
  14. Based on what? One game? What has the team lost without him?
  15. For a women's volleyball team maybe.
  16. Is it possible to comment on makoun's time at Villa without mentioning Man U? He was poor. Absolutely no loss.
  17. Well yes we can wait - its whether he can. He is obviously owing something in training which he's not yet bringing to the first-team. He's hjad an unsuccessful run thus far but I wouldn't jettison him just yet. make the season's out, get another pre-season under his belt and then let's see next season.
  18. I like Emile. No, really. There, I've said it.
  19. Except for his time at Villa. When he played in midfield he was an attacking midfielder. as for Clark he's doing okay but I think he needs to be a little more mobile and play with a little more urgency. Certainly deserves to be in the team. Disagree with him at the back mind. I think he's a little too lightweight.

I think yesterday we saw why number two keeper's tend to stay there. A few good performances ruined by one very average one. Obviouslyhe wasn't tyhe only one but I thought he ahd an all round poor game yesterday and din't do himself any favours whether trying to get a new contract or impress buyers.

Although he didn't paly well he was one of the better performers of those that looked flat - which were the whole of the defence and much of the midfield. it was telling that Swansea brought in 8 players and us just one 48 hours after playing on Saturday. They were running rings around us as they were fresh. All we needed to do was just change 2 or 3 but top be fair we didn't have a great deal on the bench to do that with. If it had still not worked an already tired sub would have made little difference.
  22. Not sure why us losing 5k of the attendances necssarily translates to players coming in. It has nothing to do with it. With Sky money we could quite happily carry on in exactly the same way witha lot fewer finding their way through the turnstiles. We're their for atmosphere for Sky viewers and those in the nice seats. As it is we are stuck with McLeish and I think the reason our voices of dissent haven't been more vocal is because we know it. We aren't the most militabnt of fans but we do turn on managers quite quickly if its not going well. Relatively speaking I think McLeish ahs had a fairly easy ride of it consideringwhat he could have got. I would get rid but who is there right now ready to come in? benitez and Hughes would cost too much money and would want a war-chest to get going. And then that leaves whom? I still stick my pin on Lambert and Norwich as I think he'll br a great manager but he won't leave Norwich mid-season. So, we'll have to suck it up until the summer, hope it doesn't get any more turgid and that we nick enough wins to keep us all from desperation and despair. And hope Randy does the right thing in the summer. And Paul Faulkner can fck-off now.
