  1. Lescott and Onuara would make our defence better and thats all that matters.
  2. I actually think N'Zogbia could very well turn out to be a better player than Young. He has better dribbbling ability and more tricks. If he does sign for us then our manager with his defensive background might also get that tracking back issue sorted?
  3. Better keeper than Foster and doesn't drop too many clangers. For 4m and on a lot less wages than he is on Citeh then he will be an excellent signing. Concerned about his recurrring shoulder injury but if we get a decent back up in other than Guzan we should be ok. I would much rather pay 4m for Given than 10m for Foster. It would leave us a little more cash to spent elsewhere on the team.
  4. Agree with this to certain extent. It would be unfair of us to expect Albrighton to replace Young right away. Albrighton is at least 1 maybe two seasons away from being a direct replacement for Young. When Downing leaves i'd sign both N'Zogbia and Johson (Citeh) as direct replacements and allow Albrighton to go out on loan to another Premiership team until January to gain more experience with the proviso to call him back if we have injuries.
  5. The nail in the coffin as far as Downing is concerned was the appointment of our new manager. We all expected a decent manager chosen from what was available and we got 'Tin Tin!' The appointment showed a lack of ambition from the club and now Downing will go. You can't blame him for that. Dalglish is building a new Liverpool and they will be challenging for honours next season while we, after again selling our best player and appointing a manager who has presided over two relegations in three years will struggle to best the likes of Fulham and Newcastle. Anyone who thinks that Downing will stay now needs a reality check. All is not lost however. If we can bring NZogbia in to replace Young and Johnson from Man City to replace Downing then both those players will provide enough chances for Bent to keep us at least mid table or slightly better and we should show a profit to keep the chairman happy. When Downing does leave for plop then Bent will be next. Maybe not this season as the top six don't really need him but if he has another good season with us then Plop might just come in at the end of next season and Bent will go. Yawn. Glad i'm just about keeping you awake!

We are a club in turmoil at the moment and teams above can smell blood and will continue to try and steal our better players.
  7. Just think of the compensation we would have to pay Everton if Moyes came here. For that reason alone Moyes is a no go for me. The names left on that list depresses me so i haven't voted for any of them. Lotti still my number one until he actually states on TV somewhere that he is not interested. The more i look at this it could end up being a real shock for everyone who takes over. Laursen maybe?
  8. Well thats my second choice gone  Could be anyone now, even Klinsman or umbrella man. Still want Lotti and Wilkins.
  9. Before i started to post here i frequently read 'in MON we trust.' Look how that turned out. I don't believe Randy has done anything yet to earn our trust as our club at the moment is a complete mess! He must start now.
  10. Basically this. Eleven players have left so far with the distinct possibility of more, so we will need someone who is capable of re-building a club from the inside. Someone who can build a new dynasty and at the same time hold the respect of players who are going to stay. I really can't see someone like Hughes doing that. Hughes is a glory hunter and will look to move a step upwards from ourselves whenever that vacancy arrives. Ancelotti however is at the right time in his career to take a club like ourselves and build towards success before he retires. Wilkins has already proven at Chelsea that he is a great number two and he would make a great statesman for our club. Randy simply has to get it right this time. Appoint someone who is going to stay with us until the job is done, making us, once again, a force in the Premiership and Europe.
  11. Voted for Ancelotti. If we can get him and Wilkins then we will have one great manager and one great ambassador for our club. Bent and Downing will probably stay and our new management team will attract better players to our club. This is the partnership that given time will finished the job that GH's health wouldn't allow him to do!
  12. With GH gone now the board have to get the next appointment right or not only will we be losing Downing and young but also Bent!
  13. We should have let him go to Liverpool at the time. Another really useless signing by our previous manager. 3.5m+wages wasted on a player who was never going to contribute to the team in the way which was needed, eh, goals. Shocking signing!
  14. The club is really in an awful mess at the moment and you cannot expect the likes of Downing and Ash to be happy when possible moves to so called bigger clubs have been muted. They want to win trophies and play in the best competitions available. The players are obviously closer to what is happening within our club right now than we will ever be so if our better players do not want to commit to the club then there are reasons for that and it probably boils down to a lack of ambition from the club. The fans and players have suffered from this lack of ambition now for many years. Southgate left us for Boro. Yorke left for Man U because he wanted to win medals and both Milner and Barry left for the same reasons. If we bring in a management team that is known world wide then that might persuade Downing to stay. However, if we bring in Hughes then what message is that sending to the players at our club? In my book another four years of mediocrity without change!
  15. Thats my main worry with the possible appointment of Rafa. He is piss poor in the transfer market and even Fergie alluded to this in a recent interview. If we are ever going to challenge for the top four then we will need a manager who can identify players in the transfer window who are comfortable on the ball and have decent technical ability, not the type of players that our previous recent managers have purchased. Those managers have been given money to spend and have largely wasted it. Thats why it is vitally important that we get the manager's situation sorted now one way or another so that players like Nzobia can be brought into Villa Park before they are snapped up by someone else.
  16. Well if 'we finished up them' then we really are in the shit for next season.
  17. Would be great to get him and Ray back together! ^^ This, if GH is definately going.
  18. Honouring who exactly? If the players want to honour the fans then thats ok by me. Anything else they can piss off for their performances this season.
  19. Party atmosphere and two teams with nothing much to play for now. Just wondering would Kenny prefer to miss out on qualifying for the two bob and concentrate on the top four next season? See both teams scoring so 2-2 with Birmingham relegated and everyone goes home happy!
  20. I also voted for M Jol. Under Jol we would continue to play a passing game which GH has tried to instill into our present squad. Jol would also bring a better technical player to Villa Park so that we would continue on our journey to play a more continental style of football. Jol has managed in the Premiership before so knows what is needed to be a top six team. No compensation needed!
