    Ezri Konsa

This is going to be a very unpopular post………but here goes. I don’t get the Konsa love in. I think he is decent and definitely deserves a place in our squad but I never ever see this rolls Royce that others go on about. He has been awful these past few games when you need your top players to step up. Mind you, he’s not alone there!
  2. Worse performance of the season by a country mile. Olsen only player to do remotely well. The rest were all pathetic. Watch Spurs win now.
  3. I’ve seen this Villa performance a thousand times. We passively wait for them to score before making a token effort for 20 minutes before again falling back into a passive state as they comfortably see the game out. Not often you say that about this version of Aston Villa but Brighton are 100% winning this match. So unbelievably flat!
  4. Would take a draw now. We concede 2/3 when Olsen plays. It’s going to be tough to get more than a draw in those circumstances. This could end up 4-4!
  5. Would be a really good signing. He can play in multiple positions, is at his peak, has great experience in one of the best defensive teams in Europe, is in a free. What’s not to like? I suspect that would mean that Digne moves on, which is a shame, but it makes perfect sense from a P&S point of view. Bring it on.
  6. We have to go full strength. Not going full strength on Thursday really cost us. There’s only a few games to go and reasonable space between each. Villa have to go full bore until we have achieved our goals. Absolutely no excuses.
  7. I don’t think his injury would impact his value that much. He would obviously have to undergo an intensive medical if he were to move on. I think he’s an attractive prospect for a lower half premier league club just because of the type of player that he is. I reckon we could maybe get £30m which would be a decent return in FFP rules.
  8. I’ve just forced myself to watch the extended highlights of the semi final. I actually think that this match really highlights where we need to focus our attention in the summer. We have really good attacking options but in order to maintain and improve our position we really need to be able to defend with control and confidence. Firstly we clearly need a better alternative to Emi. Maybe Gauci is that man but it clearly isn’t Olsen. Forget about his capability to actually keep the ball out of the net, he simply does not have the footballing capability to launch our attacking game. We clearly need a better alternative who is better suited to our style. Moving onto the fullbacks. I like Digne. He has been really good this season. I would be happy to keep him for another year. Sadly Cash, who I also like, is not a Champions League level full back. He is constantly the man who forgets to move up and hold the offside line. He is too passive in his one on one defending, conceding ground at will by backing off. He’s not great going forward either and clearly needs replacing. Now to centre half. Pau is our man. He and Emi are the keys to everything we do. He has to play. His weakness however is physicality. He needs a dominant and imposing centre back alongside him. Konsa is a fine player but he also needs a dominant partner. They are a decent pairing but would be better if one of them was more commanding. It would be harsh on Konsa but if we are to improve even more, a replacement has to be considered. I would sell Carlos and buy a replacement with a view to him being Paus partner with Mings and Konsa providing competition. Finally we need to look at CDM. Kamara, who is class, may not be back until February. We miss him so much and we really need someone to come in and fill that role. It will also give us the opportunity to then play 2 CDMs at certain times if required. If we can offload Donk and Sanson at the same time, then brilliant. We also need a more physical and aggressive 8. Doug has had to play way too much this year. We need someone to share his work load. So, new Centre Back (Carlos sold). New right back (Cash sold). New CDM (Donk sold). New 8 (Sanson sold). Possibly a new GK depending on Gauci (Olsen sold). We will probably also need to sell a few youth and fringe players to help fund things. I don’t see where Buendia fits in anymore. We have better options and I wonder whether we would consider moving him on. It’s a tough decision but I would much rather sell him than JJ or Dougie who seem to be the two names banded around most often.
  9. We still won this. Absolutely no doubt………. So long as we get a decent ref!
  10. Our lack of centre midfield options have really hampered us this season. Ginny is much better when playing more forward and that makes the team much better. Most of our better performances have been when Ginny has been employed higher up the pitch. We need two centre midfield players in the summer and then hopefully, next year, Ginny will be able to stick to what he does best.
  11. As others have said, we are in a fantastic position. I think another 4 points is likely to be enough. I back us to get that and then if Spurs beat us, fair play to them. This season has been truly amazing and we still have so much to play for as we enter May, including a European semi final. How often have we been able to say that over the years? Halcyon days these are and I’m loving it.

    Unai Emery

Absolutely everyone in the world should watch every one of Unai’s press conferences. He is such an inspirational man. He just lives the improve every day mantra. I have full on man flu today but after watching that I feel like I could run a marathon! What a manager we have. I hope he never leaves. UTV!
  13. Look at his pass to JJ for the second goal against Brighton, last game of last season. One of the nicest most perfect passes I have ever seen. Just lovely.
  14. Need to piss in all 4 corners of the ground. That should clear any curse. Anybody got Barry Fry’s number?
  15. Well done Moussa. Very good today. He will really benefit when we get stronger behind him. He’s a clever player who will unlock defences for us when we are playing a low block.
  16. I love our club. UTV. What an incredible week. What an incredible season. What a manager. What a time to be alive. Simply brilliant today.
  17. Love him. Love him. Love him. Absolutely love him. He is brilliant. He is a top man. He gets us. We get him. Love him.
  18. Both amazing performances and results. Unai has given us some truly special memories already.
