  1. Gareth Bale has already earned enough money to pay for my tuition fees for this year, he's been at Madrid for about 5 hours.
  2. The guy we were actually scouting when we discovered Benteke apparently.
  3. Fair enough, I've not seen them play and I'm just judging them on the squad that came up. I think Medel, Caulker and Cornelius are good signings, albeit too expensive IMO, but other than Bellamy and Whittingham I can't see many players they had last season that will be good Prem players. I think they're going to suffer from what I like to call Burnley syndrome, get promoted for the first time in 30 odd years, beat a big team in their first home game, look decent through momentum from getting promoted and then fizzle out in the second half of the season.
  4. But it is the most expensive transfer ever. Inflation isn't taken into account for transfer records, otherwise the most expensive player would probably be from the 20th century. What is annoying is the wankfest Sky are currently having over it though.
  5. Slightly surprised so many people think Cardiff will stay up, they're squad is awful. Despite spending £30m they've not got a lot of premier league quality players.
  6. "Libor Kozák signed for Aston Villa FC in the Premier League 2nd September 2013 15:37 for £88,300,000 with add ons making him the worlds most expensive player. Then Unfortunately Randy lerner, Aston Villa's chairman decided to sell him for 99p and some vouchers for in n out burger." Straight from wikipedia, who said Lambert wasn't getting backed
  7. Thanks dodgyknees, I'd only recently got over the fact that lump of shit ever wore claret and blue. Now the nightmares will start again He never played for Villa?
  8. I'm happy they didn't. But it wasn't early in the transfer window, plus the bale sale wouldn't of made a difference as spurs have said they already budgeted to spend the money regardless of selling bale. Didn't they sign soldado about a week after benteke withdrew his request. I'll only believe that if they spend upwards of £50m today. They knew Bale was gone back in May/June time (agent said deal has been in the pipes for over 100 days, I think), so they've been spending that money. Saying they'd planned it anyway was just so that teams didn't rip them a new one on fees. Would Roma only want £30m for Lamela if Bale had just left for £86m? Of course they'd want more. The Tottenham board very shrewdly put doubt over the transfer and waited until the day before deadline day to let it get finalised so that other teams wouldn't screw them over. It's been very well played by Levy and Co.
  9. No he won't! It's the last year of his contract! (I think)
  10. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll make it due to his two ligament injuries, not many players come back from that, especially between the ages of 17-20 when development is most important.
  11. I'd assume permanent, Kendrick didn't specifiy.
  12. Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick1m Barry Bannan scheduled to have a medical with Crystal Palace tomorrow morning #avfc
  13. I'm surprised it isn't already there after only 1 win from 3
  14. You may be right but this sort of comment has been posted in every transfer window over the last few years. And this is the first summer since 09/10 we've had the same manager as the previous summer, so the "deadwood" haven't been consistent for a long time. Under McLeish there is no way Given and Bent would be considered deadwood, and under MON Dunne wouldn't either. Now we have a manager who isn't judging the squad for the first time but after an entire season, so he has a goo idea of who is deadwood.
  15. Which three do you reckon will go down? At the minute I'm going to go with Cardiff, Palace, Sunderland - with WBA and Hull narrowly missing out.
  16. Taking this massively OT, but MON was backed, Houllier was backed, McLeish was backed, and we're now paying the price. I'm sure Lambert wouldn't have come if he didn't realise there may be a need for a few years of austerity before he can make a splash in the transfer market. See above You posted that as I was typing out my post! No fair!

  18. He's never been fantastic though, has he? He had a decent World Cup for Serbia in 2010, and Juventus snapped him up. He's just another example of why you don't buy players based on one World Cup.
  19. Yes, and if he'd have bothered to try and actually play football anywhere near like he did for City, then no-one would want a #10 type player, as we would have one. I would be amazed if we ever signed a player of Ireland's mentality again.
  20. I reckon we do want one, but it's not a top priority, so with us seemingly having a small budget left, we went for one of our higher priorities. Can't say i'm not disappointed a Coutinho-esque player isn't a high priority, I think that's what our squad is crying out for, especially at home. However I can see why a Benteke backup/alternative and a ball winning CM are seen as higher priority at the club.
  21. Seann Walsh's World, not actually seen it, just ads. It looks like a shit British version of that shit US show, Tosh.O. I swear British TV Comedy has been going seriously downhill recently compared to the US.
  22. Only as back up, Giroud has been awesome for them so far, 4 in 5 I think. As I seem to have said about a billion times over the last three pages, that player they need if they want to challenge for the title again is a CM willing to do the dirty work but can join in in attack too. Wouldn't mind if they didn't though, it would be brilliant to see one of the "Sky 4" fall down the league Liverpool were originally one of the sky 4 and they've fallen. Indeed, and I loved that too! Unfortunately they look like they've sorted themselves out
