  1. Well at least we know where we stand. West Ham are out of it obviously. I really fancy us to beat West Ham so we just have to be ahead of Watford before the last game to keep it our hands. What we really have to avoid is being in a position where we beat West Ham and still go down. Although that would vintage Villa.
  2. Disagree, I'd rather face a West Ham team needing something than with the pressure off. They would be delighted to send us down and if they are safe would go all out to make that happen.
  3. We should be hoping, praying for this. Watford beat West Ham. We at least draw with Arsenal, West Ham lose. Beat West Ham on the final day to leapfrog them. And obviously hope Bournemouth lose to Soton.
  4. Remember how people were saying Arsenal are on the beach. How's that going?
  5. Just noticed Palace have scored 30 goals in 35 games (8 less than our feeble attack) yet have 12 more points. Unbelievable.
  6. Wins mean absolutely nothing if we get relegated. Our win today hasnt improved our position or situation, we're in worse place now than Friday. Just like our wins in the LC meant nothing because we didnt win it. Anyway I dont want to argue about the nature of supporting a football team. But this is as far as it gets from enjoyable.
  7. Goal difference wont come into it. We're never going to catch West Ham or Watford's and we will need to finish above one of, maybe both of them. It's pretty simple, we need probably 7 points, possibly 9. If and its a huge if, but if we get to a stage where beating West Ham keeps us up then I would actually be pretty confident. We would have nothing to lose, all West Ham can do is bottle it. But that's a convo for another day.
  8. No we’re chasing any two teams above us, including Bournemouth. What a ridiculous way of looking at it. And “enjoy it?”. We’ve beaten an out of form side at home. We shouldn’t be patting ourselves on the back. We’re 4 points from safety with 3 games left. There’s nothing to “enjoy”.
  9. I wish people would stop saying “x have nothing to play for, x are on the beach” like it’s some exact science. We have no clue how teams will play or what the results will be. Predicting results is a nonsense.
  10. Im really starting to think that we’re gonna need all 9 points.
  11. So when all is said and done, we’re in a worse position now than Friday.
  12. Why do people keep saying this? We were 4 points adrift before the weekend we still are now. It wasn’t a “good day”, we simply avoided a very bad day. Bournemouth are also winning so nothing has changed except we have one less game to make up the gap.
  13. It’s simple. We have to get within 2 points of West Ham in the next two matches and beat them last day. Watford will be fine and Bournemouth look doomed so it’s a straight shootout.
  14. I'm trying to think what would be the most Villa thing to happen today. Finally win when it's too late or down tools and meekly surrender. Neither of which would surprise me. Regardless, I won't be watching, it's a beautiful day outside and I won't let this team ruin my Sunday.
  15. Is there anything more nauseating than this kind of cringeworthy drivel?
  16. The amount of absolute dud strikers we have signed in recent years. What success stories have we had? Benteke from nearly a decade ago and Abraham, who wasnt even ours.
  17. We have seen why Mings has been highly rated at times in his career but now we're seeing why when he should be in his prime, is playing for us. I cant see him getting another England cap that's for sure.
  18. We have to accept now that we're a nothing club really. Holding onto the "Proud history" bollocks means nothing and counts for nothing. No-one respects us anymore and we dont deserve any either. Football really is an amazing thing. Nothing else in life would you tolerate so much misery and come back for more the next day. At least in a bad marriage you can get divorced. All of us are stuck with this team for life. I agree with Farlz above, I'm not interested in getting promoted to have a season like this again, or a 15-16. Or become relegation fodder every year like rats trying to survive. I dont see how anyone would enjoy that or get anything out of it. Sadly, that seems the only foreseeable future atm and that's if things go well.
  19. The last 10 years must have been the worst 10 years this club has ever had. Not one good season (the promotion doesnt count), no trophies, endless embarrassment on and off the pitch and some of worst results, performances and managers in AVFC history.
  20. That may be true but my concern is that we have got progressively worse this season. If we started shite and got better it would be a different story. The fact we're in freefall in terms of results and he has done nothing to stem the tide means IMO he doesnt deserve another chance.
  21. The problem we have is that if he stays on and gets us promoted again, we will have him as a PL manager in a years time. There is nothing to suggest it will be any different. So based on that logic, he has to be sacked as soon as the season is over.
  22. I think people are being a bit over the top here with some of the comments. He has been awful since the break and will leave in the summer but he has done a lot for this club. I dont think he is playing shite on purpose but it does seem like he knows what transfer is lined up and wants no part of these remaining games.
  23. In some ways, we have absolutely bottled it this season. Just think, if we had picked up just two wins as opposed to 0 in the last 10 we would be sitting quite pretty. We were safe and we've **** it right up.
  24. As a Premier League manager, he's no better than Remi Garde or any other manager you want to throw in from the AVFC book of nightmares. 0 wins in 11 games. 2 goals in the last 8. Shambolic.
