  1. I'm no defeatist or doom merchant but this is one of those games where you just feel there is no chance of us getting back into.
  2. The fans being silent tonight is the least of our problems.
  3. This is no fluke. We've been shite in the last 5 games. Goals have started to dry up too. Not good.
  4. Cash doesnt seem to ever aim his cross by who there is to cross to. He just does what he feels like regardless.
  5. Unedited? We changed the badge and removed the "prepared" years ago. It's not edited, it was changed. You're obviously a big Villa fan
  6. No I'm not joking. I think the badge without prepared is better than anything that's followed. Is it perfect? No but compared to the monstrosity of the current one, its a work of art. Modern, simple, stands out. I liked it.
  7. I'm amazed at the positive reception for that detailed Lion badge. It's hideous. I haven't seen a single design, leak or fan mockup that I've liked. I prefer the old AVFC one to any since.
  8. Ricky Scimeca played up front a few times in 1998-99 when we short of strikers
  9. Not to be that guy but Bosnich left the summer after we signed Merson and Dublin.
  10. 9.5m in 2001 was in insane amount of money for a completely unproven player in Europe. I'm not sure how River Plate got that fee for him. He was barely an established international player either. Mark Viduka and Robbie Keane were signed for 6m at the same time. Arsenal signed Henry for slightly more and Pires for slightly less. It was a huge gamble paying that for JPA. JPA wasn't a flop and he wasn't a success either but I do love the guy. He always tried his best despite the many problems he had off the field with his family settling here etc.
  11. I remember 2001-02 being the first Villa season where I was really disappointed and underwhelmed. Only because I had huge optimism before the season. We signed Schmeichel, Mellberg, Kachloul and Hadji who I was dying for us to sign as he was one of favourite players in the league who didnt play for Villa and of course scored three times against us the previous season. We finally negotiated the InterToto cup and started the season pretty well. Unbeaten in the first 7 beating Liverpool at Anfield and were seconds away from beating United. After the United game, Merson was saying that it was typical Villa, about to get a great result and show of intent, then capitulate at the last minute. He wasn't wrong. However it soon turned to shit. We had yet another embarrassing European exit on away goals to a team (NK Varteks) who I had never heard of before or since. We bomb out of the League Cup early at home to Division 1 Wednesday. Then predictably our league form nosedives. 1 win in 11 between November and new years then that awful 3-2 FA Cup 3rd round exit to United after being 2-0 up. Outside of Mellberg, none of the signings worked out. Balaban - A complete disaster. Schmeichel - Started the season well then fell off a cliff in the second half, being at a fault for loads of goals. Kachloul - Injury prone and ineffective Hadji - Never given a fair crack of the whip. Showed flashes of brilliance but Gregory couldn't get the best out of him. Then Gregory resigns in early 2002 and it would only get worse from there. In comes Taylor who signs a load of old shit and flops complete with dreadful results and dinosaur tactics. I don't remember feeling more disillusioned as a Villa fan up to that point than in 2003. We were utterly spoilt in the 90s looking back.
  12. Poor today but it was that kind of game.

I'm really struggling to find what, or anything, he does well or provides to the team.
  14. The holding the face to stop lip readers is one of the weirdest things in football. Who, anywhere, would give a **** what Sean Dyche is saying on the touchlines?
  15. It’s more that football fans are whining little bitches. I genuinely can’t remember the last match thread on here that didn’t have constant moaning about the ref.
  16. Yeah it’s all a big conspiracy. Everyone is out to get Aston Villa. That’s what it is.
  17. Yes. Which they’re supposed to do. That ‘s literally the point. It was offside. Villa fans will whine about it though as always.
  18. We will be second if we win our game in hand and its over halfway through the season. Do I think we will win it? No. Are we in the title race? Quite obviously yes.
  19. Probably because those clubs have won it in the last 70 years.
  20. Mediocre performance to say the least but who cares. Anything but a replay.
  21. Man Utd's recent results make our capitulation against them all the more infuriating. Makes me sick thinking about it.
