  1. I was impressed by his performance, defensively even Bailey had his issues, but it will come. His presence and strength is important for our run. Hopefully Ramsey is back soon, the issue is without Kamara we’re already too attacking minded. With Ramsey we’re more balanced. But I think Emery will find a way, even if it wasn’t from a starting point.
  2. I think the question should be Conference and 5th, or 4th. I’d take the first as it will most likely get us to CL. Let’s see what happens in Manchester derby tomorrow which hopefully ends with City beating Utd. That would give us a bit of a space to breath, and focus on Ajax and Spurs. For now I’d focus on the Ajax game, can’t underestimate them and we don’t really make it easy for ourselves whoever we play. Also hope for other English teams to do well while more German teams to fail.
  3. I just think that some subs should have come earlier. Tim, Dinge in particular. Those two should’ve come while we were winning. But can’t complain we got the win and Emery is brilliant.
  4. He is one our promotion season heroes, I’ll always remember him in a good way despite what happened after. I don’t think we’ve had a better defender in terms of aerial battles than him. He won us a game against Utd after long years and in the Old Trafford. Could’ve had a better career with us, but whatever was the reason it didn’t work and he lacks a lot. Hope he can continue his career in a decent level. I doubt he’d play for us again, but I won’t mind him being on bench while if we needed to see game out playing against long balls or corners.
  5. Maybe the get confused by the fact of having to sell to buy rather than selling just for FFP (it’s all related to FFP, but it can still be sustained without selling main players and without big buys).
  6. But we lose attacking effort without Dinge. We’ll have a nightmare of long and high balls with Luton anyway.
  7. Definitely not million years, we have a chance catching both, ofcourse we shall win at Luton first. Can we maintain that? It will be a huge ask. If we win against Luton then Spurs, I’d look up the table, and hopefully do a historic run. Not likely but we’ve won 8 out of 10 last season. City has tough run of games which ends playing against us. Just keep winning and see where it takes us. We need to secure CL first, but why not have a push? The thing is we shall not put it as a priority like CL or UECL. But if we found ourselves winning then just go for it.
  8. I think that we can sell Dendonker, Dinge, Coutinho and still get stronger. Yes two aren’t wanted, while Dinge is replacable. The new LB we bought could actually be already a replacement. I’m not sure it’s easy to offload the others and Chambers but let’s see what can happen. I won’t be sure about selling Cash yet, his replacement doesn’t seem as ready, but if Mings got back up to speed then it might go to a conversation. For me I’d keep him until January atleast. I would try and keep Watkins, Luiz, Ramsey, McGinn, Bailey and Kamara. Then we’d possibly keep Diaby, Rogers and Buendia. We could consider selling Buendia during winter if he came back stronger. I think if we offloaded the 4 mentioned players it will be as if we sold a main player, while not getting really affected (I know people rate Dinge, he’s good but for our tactic Moreno is better, and cheaper). The guy who we bought should cover his position. Then you got Zaniolo and Lenglet leaving. All of that would help us balancing. Those two are direct replacements for Mings and Buendia. I think doing that while approaching best talents around like we’ve done with full backs to help rotating, I think that will give us more sustainability while progressing.
  9. Huge game coming up for Utd against Luton. Hopefully they lose it, that would give us more space. If we can win next game while Utd and Spurs lose some points it would give us a chance to have more focus as well in the UECL. Let’s take it one at a time, Nottingham has improved lately hopefully we can beat them and win again at home.
  10. He’s done well when he came on, promising and hopefully will give him more confidence to feature more.
  11. Football is played in small details, we had early chances, if we scored would have been totally different l. Same after 2-0. Then if we kept it tight would have been as well. 3rd goal changed the whole thing.
  12. I doubt we’d have gone in this mess if Kamara didn’t mess it up at Brentford and Torres injury in a crucial time. Add to that Konsa injury for yesterday. I know it’s part of the game, but it cam in a crucial time. Knowing Emery he comes back better after losses so hopefully he’ll be sure to do something at our game of the season next Sunday. Nothing in this world being done by people doesn’t have a mistake, manager work in particular have more mistakes (as they’re dealing with people and different circumstances), so since last year, there were mistakes here and there, but Emery overcome them and actually create more solutions. Last season when we came near Europe we went hopeless against Utd and Wolves, but came back to win 7 points against top 8 teams. For me I wasn’t expecting much from Newcastle or Chelsea, knew something like this would happen. But we’ve experienced this drops under Emery and we usually get back stronger. I’m usually against surrending other cups for the league, but this time our UECL is more priority as it will help 5th getting CL. Still a lot to play for, our away form is improving (which was what our form began with last season) then home form sustained. Now it’s getting different possibly because of the change of players (Torres missing is a big hit for our home form).
  13. It seems Emery will start playing him more. Even Zaniolo is playing like him or less even. While he used to be starting. Youri didn’t use to feature. Emery doesn’t seem to to change the team at times despite the players themselves. Even Dendonker didn’t use to feature but he started to play lately. So I think there is a big plan for Tim. He’s just being introduced in a tough period with tough circumstances.
  14. I agree somehow, it’s the sane as when we were talking about Man Utd catching us while West Ham were above them. No agenda’s against West Ham but we see them overperforming. Yet they can prove us wrong. Before our bad form, a lot used to talk about our chances. This form made everyone think we dropped (which happens with a lot of teams). Then there is a big issue which is Man City. Hopefully if they fail to win tonight It’s going to be fun again. Brentford usually do good against them.
  15. Actually big part of it is relying on our favor to ourselves. Win the Conference league and most likely 5th will get to the CL.
  16. One of the encouraging things of this window is that Duran has a demand despite the fact that he isn’t really playing. Clubs are looking at Villa scouting in a different way. Yes they do see something in Duran, but it seems that the (Villa factor) is branding itself very well. It helped for deals with Archer and Ramsey (although their performances are questionable) but we’re getting there. The faith Emery put in Tim and Kesler after all of us questioned him not playing Tim says that we’re carefully trying to help our strategy.
  17. The thing is building this network (wether it’s about our partners or even teams like Argyle) it helps our strategy very well. For Union Emery will make sure they have the same style of play, that could be done with Vitoria and Zed as well. The we got Sousa and loaned him quickly showed how strong we’re becoming in that department. The agents will start looking to move potentially good players to Villa as they’re knowing how to progress with them. For me I’m more happy with January about our sustainability than any other thing. No more short term actions (which would effect our progress).
  18. Tomorrow is a very big game. Next two games are the games were we lost everything. Now we’ll have to gain it from the two of them again. let’s win tomorrow and hope Man Utd lose points next game. Then a draw might be fine. For me I won’t sacrifice the FA Cup because I don’t think an extra game or two will be the only thing that takes us out of top 5. We’ve been doing bad with less games last month. I’d like two cup finals while securing 5th than getting 3rd or 4th with winning a cup or two. Being in two cup finals might end up winning a trophy or two, while 5th most likely takes us to CL as being in cup final will help, with Hopefully Liverpool winning Europa.
  19. Actually one of our best windows was the summer where we relegated. Our main issue was losing the spine (Delph, Benteke and Vlaar). If we added who we got to them, we might have had a good team. Gueye, Veretout, Ayew, Traore all had a very good careers, Amavi I didn’t follow but he had a great potential before the injury. Sometimes, one or two mistakes change the whole story, Richards and Lescott (proven ones) were our main issues. Sherwood had a very successful half season then lost it all. I think this window gave us a very good idea on how well our board are improving in the game. You could see ruthless we didn’t used to. The good thing it’s agreed with Emery, and a full picture by even partnering with Emery club. Sometimes managers keep asking and demanding, it serms our manager is pushing for us to be savy and build slowly. The way of utilizing the squad (using Tim and Kesler), while sending loans. All of that while we’ll be facing tough second half of season which we might lose 4th or 5th, but there were no panic there. Like last season, add little and try to utilize. This season it’s going to be tough as well as we have other competitions. Hopefully we qualify in the FA Cup as well. The good thing is that we’re not risking long term success because of short term vision. While trying to have as much success as we can.
  20. We shall take it game at a time, this week is a very tough and important game, win it and it will give us a good breath from Newcastle.
  21. It’s not looking great, I knew that the moment Kamara was sent off, then added to Torres, but, Against Sheffield Utd it was one of those games, while against Utd we were a bit naive tactically after being 2-0 up, Ten Hag done it twice against us (last season League Cup). Then we’ve played good against Burnley (We had a very good first half against Brentford but without scoring). Against Everton it reminded me with our away games last season, we used to do that and make games less tension while trying to win from some chances. That gave me more confidence actually, As we need to calm things down, against Chelsea was the game I got more confidence actually, when you look at their individuals, they’re one of the best especially midfield, they have a good manager and it started clicking for them. I was expecting the worse. Gladly most of their chances were gifts from us (not it’s a good thing but also it doesn’t show our system collapsed). We’re lacking some creativity, but scoring early would help us a lot. Tough game coming against Newcastle. Let’s see how it goes. Howe done us last time. I think Emery will be considering this game in a different way, he’ll still remember the 5-1 while even looking at our certain performances. I liked how he respected Chelsea despite many were taking them easily, it’s a different Chelsea right now. As we’ve seen with Utd every quality team can bounce back, so we shall be sure Newcastle don’t do it against us.
  22. I agree on that, those kind of signings are interesting anyway. You can’t think of what might come out of it. With Emery in charge I doubt we’ll buy for the sake of it. So getting those younger/cheap players can be stars in the making. Somehow we’re changing players and look to upgrade while lowering our wage bill (well for those who success they’ll raise it again). With the likes of Coutinho, Dinge..etc then Chambers..etc We’ll have a good base to build on. Let’s what happens with Rogers. If we manage to keep doing what we’re doing and managed to qualify to CL while winning a cup or two this season then we’ll hopefully have a greater success while not sliding into FFP issues.
  23. First of all, it’s not been quite good games but, we weren’t really bad at any. At Brentford we had an ok first half, then against Sheffield we weren’t at our best yet it was one of those games. Against Utd we were naive. Then against Burnley we were good but we lacked something going forward (slightly better the previous games). Everton we were fine but we’re not creating much. I think losing Kamara was our main issue (then add Pau to the equation) if we had them we would’ve possibly won all which could have helped our confidence and belief. Anyway, still some important games coming up, teams are more familiar how to play against us. We have to be sure to keep a gap with Man Utd, Newcastle and Chelsea. Also keep in touch with those around us.
