Thats fair comment V4E, i think the Nooocastle players want to remain part of what is going to happen up there. Guimares is top quality, Wilson, when fit, has always been very good. Pope is a good goalie, and the 3 CHs are all very good. Joelinton has reinvented himself as an all rounder in midfield, and Almeron is a grafter. Howe has surprised me tbh, i think he is assembling a good team up there.

If i picked a combined team of Noocastle/Villa atm V4E i would struggle to get many Villa players in. Carlos if fit, as Kamara, and thats probably about it. I think we will PC and probably Buendia perform better under Emery, but the rest. Wilson is way ahead of Watkins and Ings, Joelintons power and pace that we do not possess in midfield, Pope/Martinez is a toss up imho. Woods strengths are holding the ball up, we don't have that in the squad, Longstaff and Murphy show more energy and effort than our current back up midfielders. This is the reason what i have my biggest issue with. Gerrard was thrown under the bus, as was DS. Some players have been here too long, and are too comfortable, some have come for a payday. I honestly believe that we need to attract good players, with more importantly, winning attitudes. Kamara and Carlos seem to have that, i'm struggling to think of any more.

Shall we dispel this nonsense about Gerrard not buying good players. Kamara and Carlos are our best players, PC, despite not being on top of his game, is still a fantastic player, Digne is better than Targett and Dendonker, Young and Chambers are good solid players. We overpaid for Jacks replacements, Luiz and Mcginn are what they are, cheap midfielders, as is Sansom. I'd rather have Gerrards players than DSs. But hey he is gone know, i think the problems he inherited are still there. Emery was about as good as we could attract, so we have to have faith in him.

Him and PC are not our biggest issues. A commanding midfielder, and a competant forward would make all the difference. Swap Guimares and Wilson for Luiz and Watkins today we win the game.

Positives, Emery has a clean slate to do what he wants, some of the favourites on here are being shown to be what they are, average footballers with no bottle. Martinez, Dendonker and Mings all showed enough to be retained,. Cash and Konsa are not on it atm, but have shown enough previously that they are reasonable players. Our 2 best players are out injured, so will be back. Archer might be ok, Bailey is hot and cold. Its a no from me regarding Ings and Watkins. Never have done, and never will rate Luiz, Ramsey needs dropping , McGinn needs a change. When fit, Kamara and Dendonker in midfield. PC and Buendia, need better players, making better runs in front of them. Noocastle are a good team, and atm Guimares is one of the best players in the Prem., with 2 good CHs.

Ive just seen an example of PC getting the ball, Luiz, Ramsey, and McGinn standing, standing behind him, no movement, Ings standing next to the CH , hiding, so he doesn't get the ball, and Watkins running towards the touchline. What is he supposed to do?

These players got DS the sack. Whoever comes in needs at least 6 new 1st teamers. The only players good enough, apart from SGs signings, who are all good enough, are Martinez, Mings, Cash and Ramsey. All the rest need replacing, if not we will be having the same conversation in 12/18 months time.
