The club have made an official statement that GH is our manager, he has been presented to the world as that, he is our manager now and will be working with KM and many others as our manager.

This is simply not true Ian.

Houllier is still under the employ of FFF.

He is not under our employ, as yet. In fact, we don't know when he will be. Neither seemingly does he.

Thus, he is not our manager at the current time. Big Mac remains in temporary charge, despite being overlooked for the job.

Therein lies (part of) the farce.

I didnt want him in the begining and now i just hate the clearing in the woods ... We'r the fcukin Villa FFS Not fcukin Hartlepool united!

Who dose he think he is to string us out like this?..

More fool to the micky mouse board... Go Back to disneyland!

5 weeks to parade a bloke under contract some place else and that hasnt even signed... Couldnt Run A Bath!..

MattyB's post was removed so I'll try and be a bit more diplomatic. The above post is absolute dross. That's all.

I missed the keyboard warriors post mate, But wouldnt you not say the current handling of things is absolute dross and not my post?.. FFS we cant even get the shirt released on time but this manager thing just takes the piss!..

I have a lot of sympathy for your POV, Dudders.

Do you hide the fact that you are a Villa fan because the claret from your scarf will clash with your permanent crimson cheeks?

But maybe I should just look for people hiding teh fact they are Villa fans with red cheeks and ask them?

What on earth are you going on about Ian? :?

Correct me if I am wrong but a sign of embarrassment is often blushing - it seems from comments on here that we are in a permanent state of embarrassment so I suspect an easy way to see a Villa fan would be to check for the claret scarf and red cheeks, or maybe this embarrassment statement was just a bit silly?

I don't blush. I'm not a woman.

Ah. I can see why this situation may look quite embarassing for the club, and by extrapolation, many Villa fans too, yes.

Farce would be my preferred word though. We're still managerless, a month after MON went. Thwe maanager we had unveiled to us as our manager, is not actually our manager (yet). It just looks silly and amateurish, IMO.

I'm not sure why we'd all be walking round with red cheeks though. That's a somewhat silly analogy, surely. Unless you're deliberately trying to provoke people?

People are entitled to feel that this is an embarassing situation for the club, if they so wish, without having to walk roound with rosy cheeks to display the fact.

What he said was that under French Law he could be made to work for the FFF for up to 3mnths, but he was negotiating

I presume not to work his total notice.

I've just read that Patrice Bergues won't in fact be coming as a coach. Is this true?

KMac & the remaining coaches will simply make good until all the holes are filled.

I'm not sure that represents a crisis at all!

It was MON who walked out 5 days before the start of the season & took his favoured coaching staff with him.

THAT's what dropped us in the mire IMO... with no obvious replacement we've struggled to fill the gaps.

I agree that it is over the top, but you have to agree that the situation at the club at this particular moment is a bit of a **** joke?

I don't have to agree that the situation at the club is "a bit of a **** joke". The way I see it, we've just appointed a manager with great pedigree, we're sat 4th place in the league (albeit after only 3 games) and we've finished top 6 in the last few seasons. Yes, losing MON in the manner we did was a blow, and yes there's a bit of faffing about with GH's contract, but I guess the Board wanted to live up to their promise of announcing something this week - if anything they're perhaps trying too hard to please the fans. Is the club a **** joke? - go ask a West Ham fan.

Well, i only said that the current situation is 'a bit of a **** joke' but if your questioning whether 'the club is a **** joke' then maybe subconsciously your on a bigger downer than me.

Well i for one didn't take the post seriously enough to be offended or provoked by it.

Do people enjoy coming on here and moaning about absolutley nothing because you've got nothing better to do in your lives?

Obviously Houllier has got to tie up some loose ends with the FFF (yes he had a massive job in france, so it is FARCICAL to think he could just walkout without doing so). Even martin o'neill stayed and extra day or two to help KMac come in, and we all know how he left. The fact that people are already jumping on Houlliers back before hes even stepped foot in the dug out is ridiculous.

Yes the club could have maybe delayed the appointment, but KMac is a model professional who works for aston villa and randy lerner. If he wants him to run the first team for another week, he will do so, with no questions asked i'm sure.

So for all you windgers out there, give it a rest and wait untill he's settled into his managerial post for heavens sake.

If we had waited for GH to sort out the backroom staff before announcing him as manager we would have looked more ridiculous. Just because we want someone we can't kidnap them and force them to come here.

At least GH is looking at his obligations/commitments with the FFF which shows a damn sight more respect than our previous manager showed us!

I wiould imagine everyone on here has some contractural agrement with their employers that if you wish to leave you have to serve a period of notice. That is what GH is sorting.

Yes, KMac also turned down the opportunity to become assistant manager, so now Houllier is down to his fourth choice for assistant

That assumes that KMac was ever one of his choices (rather than the club's). Either way, its still not worth wetting the bed over. For me, getting GH is the important thing, he'll no doubt find someone he can work with.

So in a less 'personal' or 'abusive' way why is it you hate Houllier and why is he a "clearing in the woods" what has he done wrong other than having the respect to hounour pre-exsiting agreements with the FFF and not leave them in a lurch like a certain former manager? Exactly how is he 'stringing' us out? is this a clever little game he is playing?

And the last couple of points about "micky mouse board" and "couldn't run a bath" are frankly disrespectful and without substance. Why are they mickey mouse? I would have more respect for you if you were able to put a reasoned argument as to why think Houllier is a word removed (god help him when he actually does something wrong)

It would clearly be better if GH could start straight away and while having to wait a week to 10 days for him is an unusual situation, some of the reactions are knee jerk and over the top.

I liked MON and think he did a good to very good job in his time here. I was however getting tired of players being played out of position and an expensively assembled bench that got minimal playing time. The timing of his departure had a huge knock on effect and while there are two sides to every argument, it made the recruitment of a new manager limited and difficult.

The gettable names were uninspiring from the off( except the media circus and rollercoaster that Maradona would have been!) and names like Moyes may, just may have been an option at the end of last season. Whatever money Villa could of offered, Everton would have been crazy to accept leading upto the first game of the season.

So returning to GH, from the available realistic options he is in my opinion the best choice and has the experience and contacts to improve us on and off the field, and take us that step closer to achieving CL football and winning trophies. I read someone else on here say it felt a bit like GT mk1 coming to the club. I see some similarities but MON has left Villa light years ahead of the state we were in back then. Lerner and the board take huge credit for that too imo. The scouting and youth are areas that GH can improve, especially the scouting, youth us very good to be fair( Km, Sid and McAndrew :-) ) just need to be given more playing time.

I'm happy to wait a week or two for a manager who has a winning background, worldwide connections, and from his press conference a clear excitement and confidence at being our manager. Would you rather someone at the FFF was stood at the door smiling while shouting "Taxi for one!". Or maybe you'd prefer Southgate, Curbs,Brown,Allardyce, Sven etc scarf waving and smiling in the dugout yesterday.

I have my preffered choice, all in all. Best of luck GH, take good care of our beautiful club and you will be greatly rewarded.

But you could view it another way; Didn’t anyone within the board notice things were perhaps not right at the club. Krulak said that MON didn’t have the shared vision anymore. If all the signs were visible, why were they ignored? Why didn’t they fire MON?

If they could see the mire coming why didn’t anyone suggest that a good idea would be to sidestep it? What really happened between Faulkner and MON?

Anyway this might veer into something else...

This hasn't been confirmed anywhere and certainly wasn't spoken about at the PC yesterday. I'll wait for it to be confirmed before worrrying about fourth choices etc I would suggest that KMac wouldn't of been GH first choice anyway and more of a respect thing in asking.
