What does that mean?

PiS = current government. Need 231 seats to form government. Exit Poll has them at 200.

'Democratic Opposition' consisting of KO, TD and NL have 248 between them and will form a government.

My understanding is various not-quite-as-much-a-bunch-of-pricks-as-the-current-lot will probably end up in coalition.

Will wait for @StefanAVFC to confirm or deny though.

KO = Civic Coalition made up of made opposition, and various centre/centre-left parties (think more right wing Lib Dems)

Nowa Lewica - Left wing, think New labour -> Greens

Trzecia Droga - Coalition of P2050 (centrist party headed by the host of Poland's Got Talent) and PSL (Polish People's Party) - Centre Right

They all detest PiS, and are aligned on some key points.

Tbh, the big thing now is to undo the damage PiS have done towards democracy and the rule of law

Get the public broadcaster to be a normal public broadcaster again, and not a 24/7 North Korea-esque propaganda network and re-reform the courts to unlock EU funds again. Oh and undo the ridiculous damage they did to women's rights.

Will none of the others go into coalition with PiS?

Not a chance.

The only ones who could are Konfederacja who 1) won't have the seats and 2) although are aligned socially, couldn't be further away econonically.

So it seems you had a Pis poor showing?

Whilst I appreciate the joke, record turnout in the 3rd Republic of Poland :D

They just hated these evil (and I don't use that word lightly) ****.

Let's say PiSs off instead :D

Yeah PiS are ****

Is this a bit like Republicans and Tories where their main support are likely to die off leaving them stranded?

Yeah sorta. It's a bit more unique though as they're tied to extreme catholicism too, which is dying out as well

They have and they haven't. These sorts of results were predicted for PIS. If anything, with such a big turnout they did better than expected.

And I only got it was a joke now.

Sorry, it's late.

When are the actual vote counts announced?

Probably tomorrow for final results but should have a rough idea by the end of today.

For reference, after about 20% of the count PiS are anywhere from 6%-9% lower than they were in 2019 which bodes well and puts it directly in line with the Exit Poll(s)
