Yes, I think we possibly just shaded it, but two major lapses of defensive judgement sunk us and then Charlton had the nous and knowledge to see it through. We were up against a very tough side there, Arter and Ben Watson would have been a PL central midfield not so very long ago, and we gave them a good game. Several good chances to get a leveller, but a frustrating tendency to overplay in their area, always a sign of nerves IMO. Second half was all us and we've been really unlucky not to get to at least 2-2. The team can take a lot of pride in the performance, I thought Iroegbanum was outstanding, especially in the second half, Swinkels was really good, Feeney a slightly nervy opening five minutes but then a good performance, Ealing and Chrisene were solid and Barber looked good when he came on - Bogarde looked good on the ball and provided a bit of solidity in midfield, Thorndike's movement was excellent and he got a good goal, Chukwuemeka was direct, strong and quite clever in his play, Archer couldn't quite get into it and JPB blew hot and cold, but between them they dominated Chartlton's first team - if we'd scored four it wouldn't have been an unfair reflection on our play. Zych struggled, positioning was poor, especially for the goal and some of his communication and distribution wasn't good enough - not sure why we didn't play Sinisalo or Marshall, but hopefully this is a game Zych will learn from and bounce back as a better keeper. Referee has ended up with the decisive say in the match with a very poor penalty decision. I'm almost getting used to it. As a group they can be very proud of their performances in this competition, it's been good for em and great to watch. 4 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Should have been ours with a simpler approach in their box. Deserved to win the game and had the whole second half. Was looking forward to seeing Archer for 90mins live match and he was the only one I’m coming away from feeling a bit meh. The rest all look like they will have a career to me. Maybe not with us…but you never know. Not sure about archer, there’s something there, maybe just an off night.
