villan95
Apparently got £200K for Blinkilde which I think is quite a lot in the women's game. Shame we couldn't keep her though. Hopefully we've got the Liverpool midfielder in
useless
Seeing some promising comments about Taylor But really hope she's not our only signing She replaces Blindkilde, at least untilt the summer, but we were short in midfield before Man City triggered Blindkilde's release clause The midfield that started the season for one reason or another has lost Blindkilde, McLoughlin, and Parker Only four options now, Taylor, Dali, Nobbs, and Staniforth, three of them in their thirties, and just one non attacking midfielder Staniforth missed the weekend, hopefully that wasn't longer-term injury Parker injury also leaves us short central defence, just three options, and one of those only just recovering from being out for a month Only possible positive I can think of if Taylor is the only signing, is that it might give a few of the academy players a chance

Villanbee
What worries me now is how many of our other better young players have release clauses? Especially worried about DvD who has probably been our only bright spark this season. For us to sign a player like her we must surely have sold her a project of joining the top teams in the league. Look at who else was mooted to be after her. Someone posted on Twitter that the women's team seems to be less of a priority since Purslow left. Fair point?
useless
Miri Taylor loan signing confirmed
useless
Miri Taylor saying she's coming in a defensive midfielder, which I guess makes sense as the only one we had at the club was Staniforth, and she's not really a DM in the old sense, more of an holding midfielder that helps dictate play, so we definitely needed someone who can get stuck in and help to stop other teams midfields running through us, but also someone that cover for Staniforth. But we haven't got an actual replacement for Blindkilde, although for that I think we need a statement signing, like when we replaced Hampton with van Domselaar, so would rather wait until the summer, rather just rush anyone in last minute, it does leave us short though, and we're short in defence, I think Martiz will probably cover as fourth choice centre-back We played 442 against Sunderland, with Daly dropping deep to sometimes make it a midfield three, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of that for the rest of the season, as suits our lack of midfielders and our abundance of attackers, maybe time to start using Salmon and her pace more in a two with Daly, our best form of defence is probably attack
ferguson1
Lucy Staniforth has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury. Even with the new loan signing of Taylor, we’re now very short of midfield options.

useless
That's an utter disaster, we've only got three midfielders in the entire squad, only signing Taylor after losing Mcloughlin, Parker, and Blindkilde was bad enough, but losing Staniforth too adds to the peril, going to be a lot of concerned and angry fans questioning why the club didn't do more in the window. Unless we have miraculous luck with injuries, or we've got some hidden gems in the academy, it's going to be a very tough second half to the season, never mind catching Liverpool and Spurs, with our squad being left as it is, now need to worry more about beating Bristol City, just to maintain as big a gap between them and us as possible
useless
Also very sad for Staniforth, she's been a brilliant signing for us, been better than some that got more hype, she's out of contract in the summer, so chances are she might have played her last game for us. In fact all our midfieldes other than Dali, will be out of contract, Staniforth, Taylor, McLoughlin, and Nobbs are out of contract in the summer, so going to have a major rebuild job on our hands, as well as those the likes of Turner, Corsie, Leat, and Magill will also be out of contract Edited February 1 by useless
villan95
So very light in midfield now then! Could Dali play a bit deeper maybe?
useless
Dali already plays in midfield, she is one of the three midfielder, her, Nobbs, and Taylor are the only three midfielders we have in the entire squad. We've essentially got one DM, and two attacking midfielders, and that's it. The club have invested a lot in the academy and have a load of players that have been getting in the England age group teams, they also won the league last season, and were joint top the season before, but missed out on the title to goal difference, and I think they're challenging again, so maybe time for a few of those to start getting more of a chance, we're a few injuries away from not having much choice
ferguson1
Having watched most games this season, it’s obviously not ideal being so light with specialist midfielders. It’s an area that was already causing us issues because teams were generally getting the better of us here. We’ll probably go with Dali, Nobbs and Taylor for now but any further injuries or suspensions, then we’re looking at players playing out of position. Corsie can play in that position but I just don’t feel that she has the legs for it. Hanson would have the energy and tenacity and even Daly, but again it’s not ideal as we would lose her hold up play and goal threat. I suppose we still have some decent options in the forward areas with Lehmann, Magill, Leon, Salmon, etc. Could really do with a morale boosting win on Saturday against Bristol City. Say 4231 or 442 rather than the 433. Like you say though hopefully someone in the academy might be ready for their chance
Farlz
3 midfielders in the entire squad is quite frankly criminal. Pure incompetence from the club.

Villanbee
Agreed, Farlz, especially when you know that one of your most promising players has a release clause so essentially you are always walking on thin ice. I know it always seems like I'm being negative and twisting the knife, but after the excitement and promise of last season, this season has been a total let down and, with the goings on off field too, bordering on a shambles. MWARLEY2
Purslow was a huge advocate of the Womens team. Maybe things have changed since he left. Not as much focus on a squad that was thin anyway. I think the lack of form of Dali has effected us massively as well. She seemed like she was at the centre of everything good that we did .
