  1. Why did he come off, is he injured or was it just for precaution?
  2. What was Lambert thinking playing Weimann in that position? Brilliant performance MOTM for me along with Bacuna.
  3. 3 of our 4 goals were assisted by two players (N'Zogbuia and Bacuna) who never played under Lambert. Makes you wonder...
  4. He's played much better but he's still far from being good. His passing is still 90% sideways and his final ball is still poor (he also missed a sitter against Newcastle). That said, I'd have him on a free transfer, but as long as he is not meant to be a starter.
  5. He won't be fully functional unitl next season. Might get to play a few games as a sub in the last few games.
  6. I also really like his celebrations, he alwasy pays tribute to the fans and seems very genuine in doing it.
  7. As crap as he's been, I've always been expecting him to improve when his contract runs down. His talent has never been in doubt, but motivation-wise he's a conundrum. I get that he has been mostly crap, but I don't think he's had consistent runs in the team. Fan's on here berate him as they instantly expect him to be scoring or assisting goals every match and if he doesn't he's 'not good enough' Now he may not have deserved a run in the team, he may lack motivation, or not produce in training, but it has always frustrated me under Lambert in particular that even when Zog has been doing ok or no worse than anyone else he was always the first player dropped if we played badly, like dropping him and being more defensive or direct ever made a difference. He needed a good kick up the arse and he also needed someone who believed in him, as lets face it injury or no injury Lambert wanted him added to the bomb squad. the 'only playing well for a new contract' argument I don't subscribe to, as all premier league players get rewarded with failure. Now matter how crap he is or has been, If he left us he's still get a bumper deal at a newly promoted club, or a championship club looking for promotion, or abroad. He was indeed bomb-squadded, or he would still wear the number 10.
  8. My issue with him last night was that he insisted crossing from way too deep which makes it a hell of a lot easier for CBs. Hutton does that as well, so I think it's a coaching problem. I think he did ok at the back as no real threats came from his side. His pace makes up for his not always perfect positioning.
  9. And he arguably looks physically and technically more sound than Clark, his pace is incredible for a centre back especially after such a horrible injury. I genuinely think his potential is somewhat scary. Another pre-season and he'll hopefully start the 15/16 campaign in tip-top shape alongside his best buddy Ciaran. Baker and Senderos will provide sufficient back up as well. He has much more potential than Clark, he just needs to sort those concentration/pressure issues that cost us points. If he does thatwith time he might even become one of the best CBs around. (As for Baker and Senderos, I fear that with both of them being injury prone we might need an extra CB to replace Vlaar.
  10. It IS his first ever season at this level, he is very young for a CB and has some really good attributes. As he adapts to the league I'm confident he will make less and less of those mistakes. Not very long ago Clark made moronic mistakes which lost us games as well, and now he looks like the most reliable CB at the club and possibly our overall most consistently good player.
  11. He's been decent but I don't get all the excitement. Did well to get his place back, though.
  12. Great point made by Shearer about Gabby's movement
  13. Why is it so difficult to put a good ball in the box and attack it?
  14. I really don't get N'Zog starting ahead of Gil. I hope I will by the end of the game.
  15. He needs to stop crossing from so deep. They are too easy for CBs to intercept and land in a zone which is too far from the goal to make them dangerous.
  16. I wasn't overly impressed, was decent. I'd still have Gil or Sinclair ahead of him.
  17. Very good first half, decent second. I can't remember the last time he played this well, and that's my problem with him. It's obvious that Sherwood will keep playing him after today, so let's hope it wasn't just the odd game.
  18. We ARE in a relegation battle, as we were last year and under McLeish. Where has Gabby been all this time? He's only had a very good run of games in the last 10 games in Lambert's first season.
  19. Sherwood had better realize which players are rubbish and keep them off the pitch if he wants to be a Premier League manager next season. Wake the f*** up!
  20. How does Gabby get to be this poor so often and never being subbed? It's beyond me.
  21. We don't deserve to be in the Premier League if we keep shooting straight at the keeper.
  22. Stats for CBs are useless. They can have brilliant stats, but if they make stupid mistakes every single match they will still be rubbish, no matter how many clearences they make, now matter how good they are in the air, no matter how well they tackle.
  23. I'd go with Benteke all the way. We need him to start scoring for us again, and that won't happen if he isn't playing. And it's not like we have any other good strikers to put up front.
  24. He just had a great run of games, as he did the previous season under McLeish, and quickly returned to being rubbish, So what do we have, a good player with many and long bad spells, or a poor player with a good run of games every now and then?
