Agree. Then again, considering my standing as an apprentice, you would probably have guessed that.
So what's the deal with your apprenticeship? How many hours of study or college attendance vs working, how much on the job training do you get, what quality is it? What costs are covered, and what costs do you have to meet yourself? And if you don't mind saying, what do you get paid and how will that vary over the life of the apprenticeship?
Day release for college. Company pay it although I offered to pay for it this year (HNC course cost 2000 for 18 month course, I checked.)
38.75 hours per week paid OFFICIALLY although I tend to work a little more than that.
I am getting good quality training IMO, plenty of experience throughout the company, plenty of feedback sessions, and have got a mentor who I meet with occasionally to see how I'm doing as well. Started off (Yr 1 of 4) being paid around £160pw (no tax as of then), then up to around 200 in yr 2. Now (Yr.3 ) I'm paid around 240 (pre-tax) and I should be paid around 300 in Yr. 4.
Personally I think it's great as I seem to have fitted into the company very well, although my whole family were apprentices. School didn't promote appships at all, kept pushing Uni at me, but the idea of loads of debt following me for years didn't appeal.
In my opinion, this country needs more apprenticeships. The balance between kids going to uni and doing an apprenticeship is far too unbalanced.
