  1. I'll second this. Paul is bang on the money.
  2. Probably two but both with a fraction of his ability. We ever want to be a good side again then we need to keep hold of our best players and Ireland is now showing himself to be one of those. Of course now we seem quite content with selling our best players, either not replacing them or replacing them with inferior quality, and continuing to go backwards then I assume he will be sold if an offer in excess of 7 mill comes in for him.
  3. I don't completely agree with it but I love the passion in your post. The passion is very appropriate given the man you are talking about. You will be amongst many, many others who know the game and appreciate what he gave this club, in thanking him as well. There will obviously be a few who'll boo but I am sure they will be easily drowned out. It was a shame we never got to give him the great send off he obviously deserved.
  4. I don't give a **** if the ball is 100ft above him he should still try his hardest. I don't see his fellow forward Gabby suffering from this Billy big bollocks attitude of if its not put on a plate for me I ain't trying. He could learn a lot from Gabby in terms of work rate and attitude and getting yourself involved in games. It was inevitable he wouldn't be getting as many chances be that due to the manager or the loss of Downing and Ash. He needs to get his head down and give his all for the team and stop thinking of number one. Lets not forget has missed a few good chances this season as well by the way.
  5. I agree DDID he has now strung a number of good performances together and its good to see. Long may in continue.
  6. and the 64mill we got back on Milner, Downing and Ash.
  7. Really. World player at what exactly? as far as I'm aware he inherited daddies millions didn't he. As for Ashley isn't he a self-made multi millionaire?
  8. In the grand scheme of things and the numerous serious **** ups by Cameron and his Government then this comment matters very little. I have to say though its not the kind of thing you'd expect someone in the position of Prime Minister to come out with. Just another, all be it small, example of out how of his depth and out of touch Cameron is.
  9. Its irrelevant because we won it had we have lost that wouldn't have been the case though. What we need is to do something we haven't done in the last two seasons and that is to string half a dozen or so positive results together and gain some momentum. Today was hopefully the start of that.
  10. Agreed. 5 wins in 20 league games is terrible. I agree . Its the kind of failure we are used to though as Houlliers first 20 league games in charge also yield just 5 wins but even less points in 21. You have to hope that things will improve though. Big three league games coming up now in Everton, Wolves and QPR which we need to be picking up at least 6 points from.
  11. Cracking finish from him tonight. Loved his over all work rate as well after he came on and you could see how pleased he was when Clark scored as he would have seen him come through the ranks from a young age.
  12. He was good today but I'd expect them all to be against Bristol Rovers. No doubt the lad is a talent though and its good to see him getting a run of games.
  13. McLeish certainly doesn't deserve any praise for beating Bristol Rovers. I'm glad he picked a strong side though and it was comfortable for the most part. Shame we **** up against Swansea as we could have been building a bit of momentum. I'm not happy he is manager but for as long as he is here though I hope we do well so lets hope this is the start of a good run in the FA Cup and the start of a run of positive results.
  14. Trouble has always with Bent is if he isn't scoring he does **** all and you may as well play with 10 men. He was utter tripe again today. He has an air of billy big bollocks about him but he really needs to start to put a shift in even if things aren't going his way. He needs to accept that he isn't going to get the service he was last season, due to the loss of Ash and Downing, get his head down, give 100% and realise its not all about him and start putting a shift in for the team. I'm sick to death of seeing him gesturing as if to say how come you haven't laid it on a plate for me. In terms of effort he could certainly learn plenty from Gabby.
  15. Quality from Stan and a nice finish from Albrighton. We deserve it.
  16. Good to see such a strong line up. Now lets get the job done.
  17. Regardless of how bad we have been at times this season we are head and shoulders above Bristol Rovers. Of course even the best teams can be upset but its highly unlikely. They have conceded 47 goals in the league this season and I can see us bagging 3 or 4 today. All that matters though is that we are in the draw for the next round.
  18. £15.00 for adults as well I think. It also looks like Wolves have took about 3-4k so that means only around 11k Sha fans.
  19. . hmm i wonder how he would have performed the season houllier came in. Given that the only difference in last seasons squad to the previous seasons, when we had our best ever 38 game Prem season points wise, was the loss of Milner and the signing of Ireland. I'm confident had he not have been sacked we'd have done OK under O'Neill and 100% certain we wouldn't have been in and around the relation zone for 5 months and still in with a shout of the drop with a couple of games to go. It really doesn't matter now though does it. Its the here and now that matters and he is currently doing very well which is no surprise and we are still wallowing in self pity looking absolutely clueless just as we have been for the last 18 months.
  20. He is now 3rd in the all time Premier League list behind Ferguson and Wenger. Not bad going considering he spent a few years up in Scotland and also a couple of seasons not managing. He is not surprisingly, given the shit served up since, the last Aston Villa manager to win the award for April 2010. If only he could convert that success into victories at Wembley....... He did three times with Leicester, one play off final win and two League Cups which as I am sure your aware was a remarkable achievement on a shoestring budget. He also won there a number of times with Wycombe in FA trophy and play offs. Of course he may well of had success with us as well had Phil Dowd not **** up. True, our present manager, on even more of a shoestring budget, took a much less quality team to Wembley and won, although I don't think that he needed play-offs to gain promotion. I couldn't agree more an excellent achievement with that two bit club down the road. Not so sure about him doing it on a shoestring budget though. In 2009/10 he spent over 30 mill. He of course also got them relegated...twice.

  23. Hard to believe it will be 5 years ago in a few months since that game against Sheff Utd where we got the free scarfs. It was a nothing end of season game for us given that we were mid table but was a full house, and a fantastic atmosphere due to the anticipation that we may be about to go places. Pretty emotional day due to the European Cup winners being back but the most memorable part for me was when the players game on to the pitch and everyone waving the scarfs and singing. The atmosphere was electric and it felt like this is it.... we're back. Three good seasons of season on season improvement followed and that dream then suddenly died and we've now had the best part of two years of sliding back towards where Randy found us. I guess the ride was good whilst it lasted.
