Me too. And i think that this is the main reason Keane took the job as assistant in the first place Me too. I think he would have seen the mess the club was in and at the very least thought there may be an opportunity at some point to get a decent club job. R Keane will not be happy being a number 2 to any manager for too long.

This is the thing. No real Villa fan wanted to see Lambert fail. Most had high hopes for him, the rest weren't overly happy but again, hoped he would bring back the good times with good attacking football. Most of us understand the restraints of the job however the fact that things haven't really improved for so long for most is why patience is worn or wearing thin- very thin indeed. I dont believe another 5-10 or even 30 games will change the way we play. I think we'll pick up the odd win, a few draws, continue to be inconsistant and be going over the same arguements further down the line. I think Lamberts time is up, it's time to break the mould we've been playing in for the last 2 and a half years and shake up as a club as a whole. Aston Villa is a club we should all be proud of, we should expect and demand more from our manager and players, not less.

Personally I think the more likely outcome if Lambert gets sacked would be Keane taking over as caretaker until the end of the season.

Repeating myself a bit but I don't think a lot of fans know what they want with regards to entertaining football. At a match, if we are playing with a bit of confidence, they're spreading it around nicely, building up and keeping possession, there inevitably comes a time where you have to turn and go backwards. At that exact point half of the stadium starts jeering about 'getting it forward' and '**** hell' because from a promising position we've been forced all the way back to the keeper. So when a defender has the option of either playing a slightly risky pass back into midfield while under pressure, or going 'safe' by just hoofing it up, they're always going to choose the latter when most fans applaud them for doing so. So fans say they want good quality possession, but actually want long ball kick and rush. Or least they reward the players for playing that way. With regards to your point. I understand what your trying to get at but the truth is the fans don't jeer because the ball goes backwards they jeer because we are predictable! We play sideways, sideways some more, pass it back to guzan.. and hoof! No one in all the time I've been going down VP has ever applauded Villa for continually hoofing the ball. That's just nonsense.

Do you honestly believe this to be the case? Most of the players now in our squad have played probably the at least 150+ top flight games each! I haven't looked at the stats so correct me if I'm wrong, however I do not for one minute think that the reason we are where we are is because our expectancy levels are too much for the players, or Lambert has to hold the hands of the players because they can't hack the pressure?! That's crazy, they aren't babies! Lamberts problem is either he isn't giving the players the right information. ie; Tactics, formation, line-up, positioning etc, or the players are not buying into it. Either way it is clear however he sets us up it's not working. Someone else mentioned that we were never going to get anything from the Man City or Chelsea games. I agree in part, not because we couldn't, but currently we don't play to win the majority of the time. We play to contain. This is the thing though, Stoke done City in their own backyard, even QPR nearly beat City. Why can't we expect similar belief from our club or indeed demand it! It's about time we did if you ask me, and maybe by demanding more we will get more, instead of this defeatest mentality which looms over the Villa. The acceptance of failure! I want a manager that can adapt his own ideas/philosophy to get the best out of the players at his disposal. Not a manager that continually does the same thing over and over expecting everyone to follow foolishly while his master plan keeps failing followed by excuse after excuse. It's getting ridiculous. Lambert has had more than enough time to have showed even slight improvements in our playing style yet here we are still.

Always I always remember the Aussies in 2005 celebrating the draw at old Trafford as being the moment we finally knew we'd recapture the ashes. Winners win. Losers talk about how they nearly won,or could've won,or should've won,and celebrate draws. I see the Southampton game has joined the list of those it is OK to lose..... We battled hard in the 3 games I'm referring to and could easily of picked up more than 1 point, that's the main point I'm trying to make. People are making out like we have been terrible in every game and deserved to lose them all which is complete crap imo and an over reaction just to justify their opinion of Lambert. Personally I think most people/fans have built up their opinions based on the last 2 years plus, not 3 games. As for the 3 games the thing is we didn't win any of them though?! Sometimes terrible doesn't have to come into it. If something isn't working, it needs repairing or replacing. Lambert can't repair! At least not well enough to perform for any length of time before breaking down again.

I have read a lot on here recently without feeling the need to involve myself. Then I saw a comment that suggested if the majority of fans at Villa were unhappy they would protest as we did last season. I've been going down the villa since my old man took me down in the late seventies, travelled europe, season ticket for twenty years give or take, introduced my kids to the club, spent fortunes, etc. I as many others, have half given up going down this season and giving a crap. I have many mates that are in excactly the same boat as me, and the reason for this.. The Villa over the last few seasons have, as a whole become defeatest.The attitude of the club at boardroom and the team has filtered onto the terraces. The atmosphere and in general the passion from the fans to urge this team of ours on to become winners. It's non existant the majority of time. Even the holte is a tiny shadow of it's former glory when it comes to being vocal. Too many fans have accepted it's ok to be a club of losers from top to bottom. Others like myself protest by staying away. It's either that or become very angry at the negativity which comes from watching Lamberts attempts to get villa playing decent football or indeed watch it filter onto the terraces. It's depressing! Nearly all of us have no hidden agenda except to see Villa become great again so I do not understand why people suggest otherwise. The bottom line is, for most that Lambert has had more than enough time to at the very least got the players at his disposal organised. Get the team playing with some sort of cohesion, passion and the balls to have a go at teams in an attempt to win matches. This is not the case though under Lambert who I feel has gone as far at villa as he can. I would've loved lambert to succeed as any manager that comes to my club(bar McGinge). But I'm against people in my club that lose and then cry, complain and blame everything from money, injuries, the fixture list or whatever excuse they can muster in defence of their own failure. I'm against the fools running Aston Villa including Lerner and those that excuse them with excuses. Just because I stay away though doesn't mean I'm not protesting.

I really think that there is nothing to worry about. I honestly think if there wasn't interested parties lerner wouldn't have said cheerio in such a way in his statement, and instead would've held off releasing it until something pretty concrete was happening. The last thing he would want as a seller would be to weaken his hand in such a way by saying "I've just had enough, anyone can have it". My opinion of course, but looking desperate to sell anything doesn't do you any favours. I think it will possibly come out the blue within 6 weeks. Owning big clubs is all the rage and were massive with the right owner.

Certainly adds weight to what Kwan is saying but a little worried the guy is 84 years of age. A little old to be starting a new venture. Might be a venture for one of the kids. To be fair if it is the ilitch family they aint that bad at improvement of sports teams. Something lerner has struggled with so hopefully we'll be on the up.

The nature of these deals doesn't really lend itself to other groups swooping in the last minute I can appreciate that. Anything further you can add on the deal with regards to the interested party?

Sorry - but our location goes against us. Ive heard this arguement about the vibrant second city, catchment area,potential - and I really don't buy. Our ground is in a very deprived area of Birmingham - and Birmingham consists of many such deprived areas. I just hope we capture the imagination of someone, or someone football savvy can front up a consortium - but as an investment opportunity it ain't great IMO Don't believe that myself. Most football grounds are in deprived areas that are predominantly lower class, with football being historically a working mans game. Plus it hasn't hindered other clubs, just as it didn't stop lerner buying us back in 2006. Also with the new HS2 line that is going ahead we will be far more accessible. Our crowds are also on par with teams like spuds, everton and man city. With the right investor, development of the North Stand and the team, bringing back the glory day's could be a reality.
