  1. watching us is so depressing..No improvement what so ever!
  2. Imo the one thing that really leads me to believe we are in for a major change soon would be the hesitation of offering Albrighton a new contract. Arguably our best player the last month or so yet no rush to get him on a new contract? Maybe I am reading a little to much into it but it does seem strange considering he could sign for someone else now.
  3. Mantis, i think your missing the point and the reason most fans want him gone. Even with a fit benteke we have the last 2 years played on the whole, terrible football. One dimensional, narrow, boring football. Also can you honestly say that any of the players he purchased in year 1 have improved in year 2? Not at all, I'm just responding to a briny's point about points gained with Benteke in the team. It wasn't supposed to be some kind of big rebuke to everyone who wants him gone. Yes, I think some have improved. Vlaar, KEA and arguably Westwood all have. Mantis thanks for the response. With regards to the 3 players improving you have mentioned imo, kea hasnt, vlaar is the same, although you could say babysitting baker could be to blame for that. Westwood??!!! Maybe slightly, but not enough to impact our overall performances. But ok i'll concede a little ground. How hasn't KEA? He's improved just as much as Sylla's regressed when compared to the second half of last season. Nobody's saying he's a world beater and in an ideal world he'd be a squad player at best but he has come on. Vlaar definitely has come on as well. Were gonna have to agree to disagree mate! Its all opinions. And in an ideal kea wouldnt be at villa.
  4. Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes say hi ! Both have done better and spent much less (Bruce got Hull promoted and safe in the Premier League and spent £32M in two years compared to £40M spent by lambert in the same period, Hughes signed 7 players and spent £7M at Stoke in his first season) points total isn't that much different tbf You've kind of missed the point, Bruce spent less and took a team from the championship into the premier league and they finished above us. Hughes spent £7M on 7 players, completely changed Stokes style of play and finished comfortably above us. The original poster was suggesting that financial constraints had held Lambett back and that no manager could have done better given the circumstances, these two managers archived considerably more in tougher circumstances. So you would take `Potato Head` over Lambert as Villa Manager then? Respectfully I suggest you have a good think before you give us your answer. Respectfully, if the budget for the coming season is £20M then I'd trust Bruce to spend it and put together a team much more than I trust Lambert. If you genuinely think you can compare Hughes and Bruce's situation to Lambert's then you're not grasping the situation at villa at all. Bruce also said he wished his sagbo signing turned out as good as benteke. It didn't. Then the chairman gave him money to buy two premier league strikers and pay premiere league wages. We aren't in that bracket anymore. We pay peanuts, and get players who may or may not work out. Fact. Wake up. We dont really pay peanuts though do we?! The 2013 accounts show villa to have been paying the 8th highest in wages unless I'm mistaken. Lets be honest not many clubs wouldnt want benteke, we just got there first. And arguably you could say lambert has brought 1 class player in 17. **** steve bruce anyway the dirty geordie bluenose!
  5. Come on mate..... the only thing kea is good at is running around like a headless chicken!! Not good enough to wear the shirt.

  7. How did ANYONE know that the vision was going to turn out shit? Did you? Did I? did the thousands of others? but seems NOW they did (but not at the time) and I did NOT say it's all the fans fault at all did I? I said the fans were all for the vision but not now where have I blamed the fans? I can say that SOME fans who booed everytime one of the young players made a mistake and got on their backs didn't make things easy for them either. I just mentioned that the fans were all for it then and now in hindsight they are not. This is down to Lambert and the players and Lerner. The fans bought into the vision (it was their choice) and now have turned away(again their choice) - what does that say about SOME fans. I have no problem with fans - no matter what point of view they hold. Of course no one knew it'd turn out like that. Not sure what your point is. Of course Lambert will be judged based on hindsight, just as everyone else. Fans pay their money and will keep doing this regardless. Did Man U fans know Moyes would turn out to be totally out of sync? No, of course not. With hindsight, did he deserve the sack? Most probably yes. Beat me to it BG, My thoughts excactly. Fans always will always buy into a vision if it appears that it will progress a club to a brighter future. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. That being said you cant blindly continue following something if you feel its not working.

  9. It's like you haven't been following the news for the past six months. Aston Villa has had an injury crisis. The only goalscorer we can talk about, has been out injured. So has many other important players. What do you deem to be acceptable for a squad like Villa with these injuries to key members of the squad? 5 more points? 8? So Villa sack a manager for events he has no control over and because Villa lack 1-3 more victories? Lets just get this straight then villa could possibly sack lambert but he isn't responsible for the crap football served up over 76+ games, all because of a couple of injuries. Come on... when does the manager actually become responsible for what happens on the pitch? I'm all for standing firm in beliefs but backing lambert when he has proven absolutely nothing over 2 seasons is mind boggling. The way lambert sets up the team is not revolutionary, its not attack minded, the formation often doesn't work. In fact we cant even retain the ball half the time. Give this guy more dough to spend and i wouldn't expect things to change in all honesty. Better players or not, even good players can look shit if they don't understand what the fuk the manager wants them to do. Even a manager like pulis knows that you play to players strengths not the other way round. Something lambert has imo not done which is my reason for wanting him gone. It's not personal, just business!!
  10. I'd be suprised if you were alive when saunders was our manager with that statement. I was and I agree with him And.....
  11. I'd be suprised if you were alive when saunders was our manager with that statement.I'd be suprised if you are old enough to have learned the meaning of the expression 'rebuilding job'. Rebuilding or demolition?! Im old enough to have seen many things down the villa and intelligent enough to realise mentioning lambert in the same breath as saunders is just plain stupid. Is it that Stupid. Saunders was getting criticised a lot before the season we won the league. A lot of the fans thought we were not going anywhere in fact backwards after the wonder season of 76-77 (For this too young a League Cu, 1/4 FA, 4th in Table but beat Liverpool and Arsenal 5-1 We were this Seasons Liverpool that year). After that Collapse Saunders realised he had to build a team capable of maintaining the whole season. Peter Withe was the famous last bit of the Jigsaw and Capt Dennis had the war cry Its Now or Never before the season. Yet a lot of fans couldn't get their head around buying a journeyman from Newcastle for a record fee. Lambert isn't the best since Saunders (Taylor mii, Atkinson, Little, Gregory and ONeil) but he isn't the worst either. Turner, McNeil, Venglos, McNumpty compete for that. To me Lambert has a lot of promise, he is just working under very restrictive directives. Cant quite recall but did villa finish out of the top 10 under saunders after 76-77, until we won the title. Did he bring in 18 players- half of them crap. The bottom line is whether lambert has potential for the future is irrelevant at the moment. What has he has done in the last 2 years that is proof he should be mentioned in the same breath as saunders? Unless im missing the league cup win last season! I actually like lambert and think in the future he could become a decent manager, but not at villa and not now. Nothing i have seen in 2 years is proof that i may be wrong. Certainly not cutting a wage bill( which has actually been increased). When lambert wins something or brings a higher level consistency then i may change my mind.

  14. I know its additional experience, but 5 min is truly valuable is it?! Why cant you take off westwood, delph or kea? What did they really contribute? The other thing is, we lost anyway, it wasnt as if the 3 midfielders mentioned were going to get us back in the game even at 1-0. And when you lose 4-0 is 5 or 6 that much worse in order to give the youngsters more time on the pitch? If of course your interested in the development. Personally im pissed off that these 2 werent given more time this season considering how shit weve been.
  15. But we gave two youth products who could be worth multiple millions each valuable real game experience at a moment when it doesn't threaten our league status. (Did you miss the bit when two defenders were subbed for 2 18 year old attackers?) Con...come on!! Valuable game experience?? The game was lost when city went 1-0 up which wouldve been a better time to bring on jack and callum. Imo if your going to blood the youth or give them valuable exerience the give them more time on the pitch- which is what lambert should have done. Bringing players on with a couple of mins to go is a waste unless its tactical. Im sure if you asked grealish for example which is better for development, 5 min against city when the game is lost or 90 mins for notts county, it would be the latter. The only value in bringing them both on with a couple of mins to go will be the memory of coming on in a big game, and im sure both wouldve experienced that at some point anyway. Lambert shouldve done it ages ago with these 2 when he realised players like tonev, helenius etc werent going to get game time, instead of sticking them on the bench for nothing.
  16. Bennett is really shit though. Bertrand in all fairness is a far better player and would be much better with the right players around him. Hence why he's on Chelsea's books and not Bennett.
  17. We got what we asked for tonight. Expecting to hold out under pressure for 90 mins against Man City away is just stupid and in the end they took the piss. Although City are miles in front of us quality wise it has to be one of the worst Villa teams in my memory, stretching 30+ years.
  18. Better players equals shit if the set up doesnt suit? As someone else mentioned, your just assuming.
  19. Where is the evidence that an increase in funding would change the style of play then crackpot? For the most part you could argue the team even with lamberts more expensive signings have been still been shit because of the set up. The system could stay the same next season if lambert was still here, even with more expensive or so called better players though it still guarantees nothing. It certainly doesnt guarantee we will be better or change the system we play.
  20. So you don't want anybody Putin loads of money into Villa? Sorry Lerner needs to stop Stalin and sell the club already. Don't know how to break this to you fella... lerner doesn't need to stop Stalin, he is already dead!
  21. Deserves the plaudits today however lets not get carried away as he has been poo all season.
  22. Thats right how dare the fans expect a manager to come in and get the team playing decent football and maybe win more games than we lose! Shit owner, blame the fans! Shit manager, blame the fans! Shit players, blame the fans! Shit football.....you guessed it, blame the fans!! Fans lost it big time eh??!!! Are you for real? I think your reaching for any reason to justify your own comments now! The bottom line is lambert and his management style, methods are not working. Believe it or not its about results not excuses and the results arent good enough, with or without benteke!!
  23. Your comments are nonsense. Firstly he hasnt got the best out of the players, especially the other 12 he brought in that you forgot to mention. Secondly, 2 years experience means zero if there is no progression. Its shows a lack of teaching, understanding and learning. In other words whatever is in place isnt working. Thirdly the fans havent lost it, the club, manager and players have been losing it- literally for the past 2 years and beyond. Forthly, lambert has had more support than any manager i can remember for the crap dished up, so your scapegoat comment is crap also. The fans in the main have been superb to lambert. To the point that most have allowed this crap to go on far too long without really voicing their anger and frustration. Fifthly, lamberts not been upbeat?! Have you witnessed his interviews recently, body language, lack of ideas and lack of conviction in his own so called project- especially his comments about needing more quality, and although true are very ill timed with saturday looming. Actions as they say speak louder than words and i havent seen any positive action from lambert for a long time so you putting down the fans for not backing him further isnt really justified in itself really, is it?! What has he done so well that deserves further support?
