While there is clearly lots of talent within our squad below, it feels a bit like late MON to me and I think we may have a medium-term problem on our hands sorting it out. In particular too many centre-midfielders and not enough quality FBs, wingers, and possibly strikers. New manager is going to struggle to keep everyone happy. GK Martinez Olsen Steer FB Cash Young Digne Guilbert Augustinsson (loan) CB Mings Konsa Carlos Chambers Feeney Bednarek (loan in) Hause (loan out) MF Dougie McGinn Sanson Nakamba Kamara Ramsey Coutinho Bogarde Dendoncker Iroegbunam (loan out) FW Watkins Ings Bailey Buendia Archer Davis (loan out) Traore (loan out) Wesley (loan out) JPB (loan out)

Well that seems to be quite reductive reasoning, and I think there is more evidence of chaos and uncertainty than the opposite. But we'll agree to disagree.

A bit too optimist IMO, given the noise coming out this morning, and the circumstances surrounding the sacking of Gerrard and his entire team late last night. The signs were there when Grealish wanted to go to City but most of us couldn't bear to accept it all summer, and the signs are here now that we're in a desperate scramble to get a manager having our top picks turn us down.

Does anyone still think we'd be in a worse position under a Labour Corbyn Government? -

Sunak absolutely debasing himself now in his desperate death spiral, even laughing off bigoted comments about his own skin colour ("You can be racist, I don't mind!") Either he is a full blooded fascist deep down or he is willing to pander to the authoritarian right to win, both are unacceptable. And Truss, well. She is a jelly woman completely lacking in political seriousness, and this is certainly going to be interesting. I just don't know if the country can take it -
Almost intentionally bad. If you bothered to read on there was also precious little detail under these vapid 5 principles. I still firmly believe there is a strong core support for traditional left wing policy in this country. I know he's the butt of every joke these days but 12.9m voted for Corbyn in 2017 and 10.3m in the disastrous 2019 election (Boris 14.0m). Whatever you think of Corbyn the man and his policies, it's undeniable that he got large numbers of (particularly young) people inspired and galvanised by quite radical left wing ideas. That could easily happen again - Labour is/was dying out for a younger more electable leader who can push a modern left wing agenda without the Corbyn "baggage", and I think they'd do very well

I think we know why (he was bang to rights and it would have been politically devastating). What an absolute disgrace -
I don't think that's necessarily correct, vs. the right. In the last century at least? The left have been closely aligned with civil rights, gender equality, LGBT+ rights, worker rights movements, BLM, etc. All movements which promote/ protect individual rights (the antithesis of authoritarianism). The right has consistently pushed back against all the above, although I suppose they balance it out by allowing people the freedom to choose between 100 razorblade brands

Ugh. Thatcher and Reagen neo-liberalism is the root of 99% of our problems. Anyone continuing to promote such a patently damaging ideology, if they're not on 7+ figures already, are utter morons. -
"To start things off" Liz has got this y'all - reckon you can close the thread mods

Sure there's little things we can do. For starters: - Don't actively promote a "we're doomed and powerless so f**k it" attitude to those around you - Don't read, listen to, or vote for people who are apologists / lobbyists for delaying action on climate - Don't immediately condemn those who risk their liberty protesting climate action (XR, Insulate Britain, etc)
-
Agree with the point that we need to limit the amount of negative information we consume to not go mental. But this ^, when combined with all your other posts on this topic, just reads like "I accept the facts of the situation but I don't GAF" - which opens you up to fair criticism in my book

Is it still one vote each yeh?

I know there will be more to come out the woodwork but wouldn't they have used whatever good stuff they had during Partygate / Beergate to save their man Boris? On the press. Am reading Peter Jukes' book about the News of the World phone hacking trial at the moment. I know a free press is a cornerstone of democracy but IMO we badly need new laws around ownership of media (no non-doms?) and maybe rules on disclosure of interests for comment pieces. See the DM climate denial piece the other day by the oil lobbyist. There are far too many client journalists skewing our national discourse in favour of predator big business with absolutely no transparency. Tricky balance though -

Rupert Murdoch, Lord Rothmere. Billionaire press barons who poison our democracy -
Stop embarrassing yourself. There's fires raging all over London and a major incident declared. There will be stories of elderly people dying. And when people go on holiday to hotter places they laze around doing nothing and sit in rooms with air-con designed to keep the heat out. The UK is not equipped for this heat on a frequent basis. And we'll have floods again in the winter. People like you make me despair honestly
