It's all too little imo I'm afraid. Was the same last season. Brilliant in tiny patches. Overall though - simply not good enough. Complete waste of money.

I don't either. I think you've taken my comment a bit literally. I think 2/3 times he's been outstanding and looked a class above. But mostly he's hit a level that I'd expect from him. That's not to say that when he does/has hit higher levels, I haven't enjoyed it or given praise.

Yeah - 8m is nearly 10m like I said. Also money wasn't my only reason. We have signed a lot of internationals recently that have been shit. That's not to say that they shouldn't have been good. I don't think it's controversial at all to suggest we should expect James Chester to be good at this level.

Because he is an experienced international defender who cost nearly 10m quid.

Well the fact were mid table in the championship, and very rarely keep a clean sheet. Yet according to your personal opinion which I obviously respect, you state we have 5 very good centre backs. 2 of which have never even played before! You literally leave no room for future superlatives, should our status as a club improve. In short a mid table championship team does not have 5 very good central defenders.

Yes. Do do many other ppl. He has never been outstanding. His passion endeared himself to the fans at the start but his limits were very evident even at Sheffield Wednesday when it was clear he was very slow. No it doesn't but if he does, it doesn't necessarily mean that he's 'very good' either. Like, I say, I've no idea what your basing your evaluation of many villa players on but you seem to blatantly ignore what is staring you right in the face.

I wouldn't say it's come to the time when we can be calling him very good. The other 3. Well you're just in cloud cuckoo land imo. Elphick has been awful and the other 2 have never played. I genuinely have no idea what scale (as want of a better word) you measure football talent on..... but it's massively flawed. You say (and I'm quoting your opinion from across the forum here) we've got all these brilliant/wonderful players yet we lie mid-table in the championship, playing some really dour stuff. Doesn't quite add up to me.

None of been 10/10. Chester has been the best and say he's a 7/8 out of 10. Kodjia a solid 7/10. But overall given the money spent, the signings have been shocking.

I saw him against Newcastle. He was ok. Looked up for it but made some poor decisions. I'm sure he is good at u21 level. But so was delfouneso, weimann, Gardner, grealish et al. If he was going to be some brilliant player that was worth getting excited about, Imo, we would already be seeing him having an effect within the first team.

Is he though? Is he really brilliant? I'd say that any player (regardless of age) that can't get a sniff and I mean a sniff (odd minutes here and there) in this current team is far far from brilliant. Good prospect probably that if he follows 95% of other good prospects villa have, hel be shite.

It's more than that. Not sure what your point is though? My statement was that I'd never seen him put in a top performance or blistering form. Fwiw I've seen his previous 5 performances before qpr. Some were good. Some were ok. Some were absolutely awful. And that pattern kind of coincides with what the commentary hinted on the radio. For example they were raving about one particular cross he put in but then highlighting an awful cross he put in from a fk, and another incident where his pace got him out the shit. He's a bit hit and miss for Me and another who makes some dreadful decisions. But like I say, he's more a positive than a negative.

My point of him not playing to the levels ppl were suggesting goes further than the last game. Hence why I openly admitted I'd not seen the game. For example..... 'another top performance'. 'Blistering form'. These are phrases that were used that hint that ppls opinion travel further back than the last game. I've never seen him in blistering form nor give a top performance. What is quite ironic is how any neutral opinion that I have seen regarding the qpr game doesn't match those of villa fans who might be a tadge biased. The Birmingham mail highlighted 3 important performances from the game..... amavi wasn't included.

More nonsense that you need to have seen the game to offer an opinion. I've added something new in that the commentary said he did some good things and some bad things. Whether or not thats true I have no idea. But it's up for debate. Now whether that debate is something that appeals to you is another matter..... but it hardly warrants posts made referring to myself.
