  1. I hope he's not going to be out of his depth..
  2. Interesting if true, but these things can be overcome. Remember something a few years back about us signing Victor Wanyama only he failed the medical and had "the knees of a 90 year old" then ended up at celtic a few days later and, well, you know the rest. I still think there is a serious player in Amavi, but it just hasn't worked out. I still think we should recoup the 9m we paid for him at least, but prob wishful thinking.
  3. Glad to see him come back. Loan signings can be hit or miss, but with SJ, we now know that he is at least solid, if unspectacular. Some stability at the back is definitely needed, and he did well towards the end of last season. With JT in front or even coaching Chester & others, things could be a lot more solid defensively. If he picks up where he left off, it will be good business and we would have to be considered as first choice for him once he leaves Utd then.
  4. I'm surprised he's only 30, thought he was older. His form has really suffered recently, I would wonder if a committed & confident Gollini would be better.. Still, has the experience we seem to want between the sticks so if wages were low, I'd be ok with it.
  5. Our friend on twitter @avfctansfers1 has confirmed that JT's medical is booked. looks a done deal, he's been the only reliable twatter sauce of late.
  6. Downing told he can go. He wasn't great last year in the Prem but he might prove valuable at championship level over a 48 game period. Clicky
  7. Ledley would be a great addition. Terry is a no brainer for me, the guy is a leader & winner. We'd be fools not to take him. If he became available, would take Calum Chambers or Rob Holding with a view to a permanent. They won't be getting much game time at Arsenal with their options at centre half. I would love to see Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, but I reckon there will be more after him. Nathan, Wallace, Matt Mizaga, Izzy Brown, Kasey Palmer are others I would take from Chelsea. Get Terry to have a word!
  8. Yep, think we would make a great addition too.
  9. Absolutely 100% this. piss poor but not even slightly unexpected
  10. Would anyone take Wilfrid Bony on a season long loan? He will definitely be looking for a way out of city and was quality on his day.. Granted he didn't seem to fit in a Stoke but could be tempted with first team football.
  11. The fact that we are sensibly trying to spend money and get a decent player who would give his all for less than a £1m is a very welcome relief. Would much rather spend 800k on Whelan who would no doubt do a job for us over a 46+ game season is far better than spending whatever silly sums we spent on Holman, Sanchez, etc. who either turned out shite or just got loaned out
  12. Who do we think we can actually move on? I can't see anyone coming in for the players we would want to move on (richards, gabby, etc.) Would like to see us go after Armstrong from Celtic. really tidy player and would be a great option for us.
  13. I think he would have been a great addition. Can't imagine his salary would have been too much though, especially if he was willing to drop down a level.
  14. I like Johnstone and I think he would be a good addition. He has the potential to improve and would be far more settled with a season behind him. But at £5m.. I don't know. Would rather try and get Westwood who has had 2 very strong & consistent seasons.
  15. That would be a sackable offence in fairness..
  16. I think Nathan Ake & Andreas Christensen could be tempted. they won't be getting much game time at Chelski. Mo Besic at Everton is another one who I've always liked, seems to have a bit of steel about him. Bad injury recently though and only getting back, could be good for a change for both him & the club. Our forwards SHOULD be good enough at this level & have good potential, but I'm hoping they can sort themselves out this year and get amongst the goals more often.
  17. Regardless of the difference in financial spending, I would happily lose to Fulham 9-1 on aggregate and get promoted back to the PL via the playoffs without scoring a goal
  18. Mazzarri to step down at Watford..
  19. Can we invest it in one Zlatan Ibrahimovic please?
  20. Great! Glad thats one off the books anyways
  21. has this been confirmed anywhere? not doubting just haven't seen anything to confirm he's left
  22. And this for me is the worry. A well organised team with a clear plan where every player (starting or sub) knows their role can go a long way. I do credit Bruce with getting organised in defense but from there on it is missing.
