  1. What quotes? "Dunne will not be going anywhere." :winkold: I hadn't seen those when were they said?
  2. So where have you seen dunne pre season ? Last night??? yep
  3. Said it before, but would still keep Collins over Dunne. From what I have seen so far from pre season Dunne is looking even slower than before. Collins has been looking strong and hasn't even been launching the ball a lot.
  4. No not that programme, it was one on Monday 16 July (you can find it on BBC iplayer)
  5. Think it is new this season...they announced on OS and during the last few home games via the tannoy
  6. Wild speculation from The_Rev, but Berbatov to replace Zlatan? Similar sort of player, similar age, available for less than £10m. Seems good business? Thought exactly the same myself
  7. So just watched the programme and have to say that I agree with a lot that was said, especially the part about asians not getting chances to make the grade...I have been in teams and played against numerous others where the stand out performers we're asian yet none have ever even been given a chance. I know this was discussed in a previous topic and many people mentioned the ethos of Asian families encouraging their children that business is more important than sport, but obviously there are others hindrances.....what do others think on this? The only point I didn't agree with was John Barnes saying black managers aren't given enough time to prove themselves.....he obviously is still bitter to the fact that he was useless
  8. He got greedy, joining man utd was the worst move he could've made, he could've sacrificed a few ££'s and trophies (for the minimum appearances) and joined a club like us, everton etc....he would've played more regularly thus regaining his fitness and form and probably got back into England team....breaking records in the process....however he was too interested in collecting money and like you say his horses....yes he had injuries, but he could've still done more
  9. unless I see it on twitter I won't believe it ........ Feck twitter I won't believe it unless Davenport Whelan says so According to whelan Carroll is too big to join villa and has in fact joined Wigan so that he is guaranteed his England place and also his take his place in the b'allon d'or top ten
  10. Think Carroll has the potential to be very good, so long as it is played to his strengths, would be a big gamble and not for more than 15m, but could pay off. Can only see him going back to newc though
  11. Any news on his injury and how long he is out for?
  12. Big boast my friend. I think our academy is up there with the best in the UK and, on the basis of last year's Next Gen series, the best in Europe. "far, far, far" may be stretching it! That doesn't really mean a lot. UK youth academies are generally very poor and the Next Gen series are an invitational tournament. Feyenoord rejected participation so that our youngsters wouldn't be in the picture as much of UK teams. We have lost so many players because they cannot sign a contract until they are 16, it's quite ridiculous. In the last 2/3 years we've lost Bruma and Ake to Chelsea, Rekik to Man City, Ebecilio to Arsenal and Van la Parra to Caen. English academies pinch these youngsters so that they are counted as home grown because they cannot teach young kids how to play. They give their parents a cleaning job for 60k a year, pay the kid a few 100.000 a year and only have to compensate us 50/100k. But still we have 16 of our 27 first team squad from the academy. That is not really boasting...but facts (Rafa Benitez style) And I wansn't even mentioning recent departures like Castaignos (Inter Milan), Wijnaldum (PSV) and Fer (FC Twente) who left the club a year ago after coming through the ranks. It's quite the contrast if you come up with Albrighton, Clark and Agbonlahor. That is pretty impressive and I have no doubt that technical ability wise your players would be miles ahead of the English (a real bug bear of mine, but that is down to the entire football setup in England). What I would say though is that some of players would bring something different to the table, didn't you say you would like Delfounso?
  13. Lambert has already said that was a temporary little test; said Lowton did well there but he was expecting him to be a solid full back. Handy cover by the sounds of it, but looks like he's been bought to be primarily a right back, with the option to cover left back and centre back if needed. Oh...I hadn't seen any quotes from the game..
  14. Are you sure you have the authority to negotiate this? Yes I'm the love child of Randy Lerner and Nicky Keyes
  15. Alpay for me. That's harsh on his day Alpay was a quality defender, it's just that he turned into a grade a prize p*****
  16. Feyenoord could you advise how the recent dealings between the clubs have been portrayed? Has it been the case where it seems that both boards have conducted themselves well and have mutual respect for each other? If so was thinking perhaps there would be a chance for a link up between the clubs. I kknownthisnis normally done with clubs a lot smaller than yourselves, and I don't mean to sound disrespectful towards your club. Was just thinking with the lack of high end money in the Dutch league, it may be beneficial for both parties to have the link. You could have some of our youngsters on loan, and we could have first refusal on your players....or something along those lines
  17. After playing cb on sat, anyone think he could be competing for that position with clark for the season and that we may be looking for another rb? He has the attributes to play there, looks pretty tall, quick and a good reading of the game
  18. Think I saw someone earlier memotion another link to Simpson or Gunter.....with that in mind and with lowton playing cb on sat anyone see think we may still be on the lookout for a new rb with lowton challenging Clark and vlaart for the cb role? ( this may cover the speed aspect that some are saying vlaart lacks)
  19. Hmmm never really been convinced by him, even at wolves he never stood out
